Derricks stare at Nate and Oliver with anger, they called him yesterday night to inform him that they will be visiting Mr Clinton, they asked him to meet them there.
“What a surprise visit. You didn’t tell me you were coming,” Mr Clinton groans tiredly as he plunges himself on the chair like he just dropped a heavy load on the chair.
“Good day, dad,” Derrick greets him politely, he just trying to be polite because he doesn’t know what his father is gonna say.
“Good day, dad,” Oliver follows, and Mr. Clinton only nods his head in reply. He flash her a smile and Nate and Ethan also greet him.
“Is this not the man that came to visit me in the hospital?” Mr Clinton asked with a smile.
“Yes, sir, I am Nate Wilson, Ms Oliver lawyer” Nate replied and Mr Clinton direct his glance to Oliver.
“Lawyer?” He asked surprised and Oliver nod her head.
“Hope there’s no problem, why did you come with a lawyer, I really hope I am save?” Mr. Clinton asked with his Normal playful smile.
“I’m sorry for coming, without informing you, it’s urgent so I think informing you will take time,” Oliver replies, trying to be as polite as she always does.
“Urgent? Are you here to give me a surprise, go ahead and give me, I love surprise, a lot so what is the surprised all about? Or did you need anything? I’ll call Ms Thompson to get you all something to eat…”
“No, dad. We’re fine,” Oliver says, and Mr Clinton stares at her for a few seconds before he nods his head. He sense something suspicious, but he decided relax for now, and let him tell her what she came for herself, he doesn’t wanna jump into conclusion.
“Alright. So, to what do I owe this visit? I won’t be surprised if it’s only Oliver, but seeing Derrick and your lawyers here made me speechless, the Derrick I know will never come to visit for nothing, so you must have come here for something important. May I hear what it is you have come for?” Mr Clinton says sarcastically, relaxing his back on the chair. Now.
“I came for this, Sir…” Oliver finally says, as she stood up from the chair, she walked to where Mr Clinton is sitting and handed an envelope to him, before walking back to her sit.
“Is that money inside? My son has finally learned to take care of his dad. That’s a good way to start the day, but I am very sure Oliver was the one that made you do this,” Mr. Clinton chuckles teasingly as he reaches out to the envelope and opens it.
“Father, what did you mean? Did you mean I can’t give you a gift?” Derrick frown and Mr Clinton chuckled.
“When did I say that? But come to think of it, have you ever give me a gift before? No you haven’t, Oliver was the only one that always honoured my birthday” Mr Clinton Scoffed.
“That’s a divorce paper, I want to show you before signing it,” Oliver announces before Mr. Clinton could reach the paper, and the man stops abruptly.
“Hmm, what did you mean?” He asked Confused, he squints his eyes questioningly.
“I got tired of this marriage and I decided to put a end to this, it won’t be nice if I didn’t show you before I sign it, I am very sorry for breaking your trust father, but I need this break and my freedom, please support our decision,” she explains to him but Mr Clinton only stares at the paper in his hand, with a convincing expression on his face. For some reason, he doesn’t believe Oliver will divorce her husband just because she’s tired of the marriage. This could be a joke, Oliver must be joking with him, how can she think of divorcing her husband, Derrick is the behind this, so he wanna know why Derrick persuaded her to divorce him
“Did you think I will believe this? Derrick made you do this, right?” Mr Clinton asks, dropping the paper on the table, and Derrick eyes turn red In anger. What’s his father trying to say?
“What are you talking about, father?” He tries as much to cover up his anger he doesn’t want this divorce, but how could his father think he was the one behind the divorce? Fine he wants his company to hiself desperately, that was why she bought Oliver in the first place, but he can never think of divorcing his wife. She was the one that is tired of the marriage not him, did he look that bad to his own father?
“Why should I believe you?” The man asks him, and he scoffs unbelievably
“The question alone is enough to make him misbehave. Why should you believe his own son? Oliver is there staring at you and you’re still asking me, is she a kid that doesn’t know what she wants?..”
“You’re not talking to a fool, Derrick. You may think you’re smart, but remember that I’m your dad, and I am smarter than you are. What are you trying to do?” Mr Clinton asks with a hint of seriousness resounding in his voice.
“I’ll ask again, dad… What are you talking about? Because I don’t understand you”
“You think that I’ll believe your wife is truly tired of this marriage? Just because you made her do this? Are you that desperate, Derrick? Did you even forget the reason you got married in the first place? Did you think I will give the company to you if you made her do this? Is this how you wanna prove you are trustworthy?” Mr Clinton asks with a smirk dancing at the corner of his lips.
“I’m not that desperate, dad. Yes, I need your propertiesbadly. It means so much to me, but you think that I’ll divorce my wife to claim it? That’s so dumb man, You think that I’ll go to the extreme length of telling my wife to divorce me, just to gain it?” Derrick fires at him angrily.
“Do you ever trust me as your son? Do you ever trust me at all? Do you see me as your own son?” A drop of tears slid down his cheek as he glares at his dad with anger rushing through his vein. The painful part is that, his father believe outsider than his own child, Though, some of his word are true, he need the properties to his self, but be can never think of divorcing his wife for anything, he do maltreat her but he has never thought of divorcing her before, he believes she’s his slave and she’s his forever in as much as he bought her, he thought he has the full authority over her. He is also surprised to get her call yesterday.
“Derrick, you don’t expect me to believe you, do you?..”
“You don’t believe me? It’s fine. How about you ask her directly? I’m sure she has mouth to talk?” Derrick finally concludes, and the man sighs. At first, he still didn’t believe his son, but it will be better if he asked Oliver directly.
“Oliver, who am I to you?” Mr Clinton asked, with a sigh.
“You are the father I never had” Oliver replied and Mr Wilson nod his head.
“Can you tell me why you wanna divorce your husband? You know you can tell me anything, I will always listen to you” Mr Clinton said, trying to sound confusing.
“Nothing, father I am just tired of this marriage, I am sure Derrick is also in support of this” Oliver replied, and glance and Derrick.
“I am not in support” Derrick replied and Mr Clinton Scoffed.
“Are you trying to act cool?, I know you’re the master planner, here is my jubgement….”
