Over the other side of the phone, it was dead silent. Kevin grabbed his phone with the vein on his hand bulging. He spat out a warning with his teeth clenched, “If you dare to say anything to my wife, I will make you die miserably!”
Celeste laughed disdainfully, “A cornered dog would jump over the wall, let alone a human being? If you insist on not giving me a chance to live, then why should I care about other people’s lives?”
She laughed ghastly and hung up the phone. Listening to the beep sound in his ear, Kevin snapped his phone and smashed it to the ground into broken pieces.
Bella didn’t see Kevin walk out of his office even after the work time. She pushed open the CEO’s office and walked in, seeing Kevin sitting on his chair with a gloomy face, meditating with his eyes closed. She gently walked up and reminded him, “Kevin, it’s time to go home.”
Kevin opened his eyes and waved at her, “Bella, come here.”
She walked over in confusion and sat down beside him, asking, “What’s the matter? You looked unusual.”
“Nothing, let’s go traveling tomorrow.”
“Traveling? You’ve been quite busy recently, haven’t you?”
“Not quite busy. I’ve promised you before and just realized that I never delivered.”
“But right now it’s in the middle of the winter, where are we going to travel?”
“Hokkaido.”
Kevin blurted out.
Bella was perplexed and asked, “Why you suddenly want to take me to Hokkaido?”
“That is the place that you have been longing to, isn’t it? With me, I don’t want you to have any regret. So I’m thinking about fulfilling your wish this winter.”
She smiled, “But we might not be able to see the diamond snow. Maybe we would get disappointed.”
“It doesn’t matter, if we don’t see it this year, we’ll see it next year, if we don’t see it next year, then we’ll see it the year after next year. We have a lifetime to testify that whether it is a myth or not.”
Bella tilted her head with her two cat-liked eyes looking at him as if piercing through his heart, “That’s weird. It’s abnormal that you are being nice to me all of a sudden.”
“Am I just being nice to you today? You are ungrateful.”
Kevin glared at her, “Ok, you wait outside. I’ll pack my stuff and we go home.”
Bella nodded and turned to the outside. She inadvertently noticed the smashed phone at the corner and was astonished. She wanted to say anything but refrained herself.
On their way home, she couldn’t resist her urge to ask, “What happened to make you so angry that you smashed the phone?”
“Nothing, just a quarreling with Celeste.”
“That old witch?” Bella sighed, “Honey, I think your rage to her is a bit too much.”
“You don’t understand.”
“What I don’t’ understand specifically?”
Kevin didn’t say anything and turned around the car, “We eat out tonight, what do you want for dinner?” He diverted from that topic.
Bella stopped asking as that person was insignificant to her.
“I want to have crab, sea-ear, hot-pot, and you…”
“How do you want to eat me?”
“Wash you clean and eat you right away.”
“Then why don’t we skip the dinner and I’ll go home and shower for you? ”
“No, we have to replenish ourselves first, otherwise, how could I have the strength to nibble you?”
“Where do you want to start?”
“Your sausage.”
“…”
“Bella you are becoming hornier.”
“He that lies down with dogs must rise up with flea. We’re the same.”
“…”
Their voice gradually receded till the sparkling neon light drowned it at night.
The next day, Bella and Kevin took the luggage downstairs. Blanche saw it and asked in confusion, “What are you doing?”
“Mom, we are going to travel.”
“Travel? Why you never mentioned before?”
“It’s a spontaneous decision.”
“Ow, it’s good to be young. You can follow your passion and do what you want to.”
Bella and Kevin smiled at each other. After breakfast, they were about to set off.
Arriving at Hokkaido at twilight, they found a hotel and checked in. Bella asked Kevin, “How is your mafia friend? Is he still in Japan?”
“He left already and went to America.”
“Very good. He got such a bright prospect.”
“What prospect? He is just risking his life.”
“What do we have for dinner?”
”Why are you always thinking about food? You’ve had so much on the plane and now we just got off and you want to eat again.”
“I’m hungry.”
“Then why I don’t feel hungry? Am I not a human?”
“You are a human, but you are just one person, But I have two in my belly, so it’s three people for me. How can we be the same.”
Well, Kevin laughed peevishly but her words did make sense.
After dinner, they snuggled up to each other, watching the stars before their hotel’s window. Bella said, “Honey, do you notice that the stars in Japan look prettier than stars in China?”
“Then do you notice that Japanese women are prettier than Chinese women?”
“I don’t think so.”
“But why you keep staring at the female owner of our hotel?!”
Bella suddenly turned around and looked grumpy, which scared Kevin.
He hurried to explain, “How come I was staring at her?”
“You still don’t admit it? Do you believe that I would gouge out your eyes and kick them as balls?” “Even if you gouge out my eyeballs, I can’t admit the things I haven’t done…”
“Ok, then you sleep on the floor tonight.”
“Why I need to sleep on the floor?”
“Because you were thinking about that female owner but don’t admit it.”
Bella was irritated at the thought of what had happened at dinner. That female owner had big boobs and a big ass, constantly walking by them. And Kevin just kept staring at her, which made Bella feel as if there was a cat scratched her heart. Had it not been too many people in the restaurant, she would have flared up.
“I didn’t. I’m not interested in Japanese women.”
“Nonsense, you’re horny. As long as the person is a woman, you will think about her regardless of where she is from.”
“You make it sound like I’m even more flirtatious than Ximen Qing, the most playful man in history.”
“You are not as playful as Ximen Qing. You’re interested in other women because I’m pregnant and can’t satisfy your desire.”
Kevin rubbed his forehead, “That’s so not true. Actually, I stared at her because she was once with my mafia friend. I thought she could recognize me but it turned out that she had totally forgotten who I am.”
“Ah, why didn’t you tell me earlier?”
“How did I know you were so nasty-minded.”
“…”
They joked with each other flirtatiously and went to bed until midnight. Lying in the warm bed, Bella said emotionally, “Kevin, let’s settle down here and don’t go back?”
“Why?”
“There is free of business deceit, no vicious grudge, just two of us. How happy and free we are here.”
“Yeah, and it’s more convenient for us to watch the diamond snow.”
“Yeah, so are you going to think over this idea?”
“What? Absolutely no. How do we make a living? If I leave behind my domestic business, then we have nothing to live on.”
Bella put her hands around his waist and snuggled up to his arms, “You are so capable, we won’t live in destitution no matter where we go…”
They kept chatting for a while and fall asleep. With only 5 hours of sleep, Kevin was woken up by Bella at 4 o’clock, “Honey, it’s time to get up, get up.”
“What?”
Kevin was so sleepy that he turned around and fell asleep again.
“Let’s go to see the diamond snow. Come on. We wouldn’t be able to see it if we get up late.”
“The outside is still dark, let me sleep a little bit longer.”
“There is nothing to see when the day dawns. Hurry up. Come on.”
Bella pulled him up strugglingly and took out clean clothes from the suitcase. “Get changed, I’ll go wash up myself.”
They were up too early that the restaurant was not open yet. They took a bag of bread and were all wrapped up in thick overcoat with flashlights in hands. Bella was very excited. Even though she was pregnant, she walked just as fast as a normal person. Kevin Holding her hand tightly, he walked on the thick snow and come to the mountain of Hokkaido.
“Did you remember we have been to that cave before? We had sex there before.”
Kevin’s flashlight shone to the left, and Bella abashedly patted him, “Nasty.”
Keeping walking forward, they arrived at a place that was best for watching the snow. They unfolded the foldable chair and sat beside each other. Kevin took Bella’s two hands near his mouth and blew hot breaths to them, “Feel warm now?”
“Yeah, it’s warm now.”
She smiled sweetly and rested her head on his shoulder.
“It’s still early. You can take a nap and I’ll wake you up when it’s snowing.”
“Ok, then you can’t fall into sleep. Keep yourself alert and eyes open. If I fall asleep and you do, too, then we miss the diamond snow, you know the consequence.”
“Yes, madam.”
Kevin put her head on his chest dotingly and covered it with his thick overcoat. Bella felt warm and fell asleep before long.
She didn’t sleep for so long, at least, she didn’t finish her last dream. Kevin woke her up, “Bella, wake up, wake up, the sun rises.”
Bella rubbed her sleepy eyes, “Where is the diamond snow? Has it snowed yet? ”
“Not yet. But you said it only snowed when the sun rises.”
“Yeah, so from now on we have to observe attentively.”
They waited and waited for half an hour. The day dawned gradually but there was no diamond snow. Their heart gradually sank. Maybe that was just a myth.
“Kevin, we didn’t see the diamond snow as expected.”
Bella was too disappointed for words. With her head down, she sighed.
“Bella, look what is that?”
Kevin pointed to the east. She looked in the direction of his finger without much interest but later her mouth was shocked to an O-shape. It was the diamond snow, diamond-like snow. She jumped from the chair and rubbed her eyes hard. Yes, that was it. The snow was as glittering as the diamond, falling from the sky…
