“If you want to go back to him, that’s fine. As I said in the beginning, from now on, I’m not your uncle, and we’ll never see each other again!”
Her uncle was also raged.
With a helpless sigh, Bella turned out of the room and said to Kevin standing outside the door, “What should I do? You let Quintin see your sincerity, but my uncle and aunt don’t see it. Now they don’t agree. What should we do?”
Kevin didn’t say anything, walked straight into the house and said to the gloomy-looking Armand and his wife who were sitting on the sofa, “Uncle, auntie, I know that Bella suffered a lot before by my side, and I promise you that it won’t happen again.”
“Why should we believe your words?”
“I can swear to God that if I fail to do so, I will be struck by five thunderbolts, and I will be torn apart and die in my boots …”
“Kevin, don’t make such a vow!”
As soon as Bella heard the sensitive word ‘die’, she thought of Richard’s curse and hurriedly stopped Kevin from saying more.
When Armand heard that he had even made such a vicious vow, he turned around and stopped saying anything else.
“Don’t forget our Bella is sterile.”
Mika reminded him.
Kevin replied seriously, “I never minded it from the beginning.”
“But your parents do.”
“My father has died, and my mother has made it clear that my happiness is more important than anything else.”
Hearing this, they shouldn’t interfere with them even if they had any problems with him. Mika held her niece’s hand and said solemnly, “Since it’s the path you chose yourself, we can’t interfere. Your uncle and I are not your parents and can’t make your decisions. We just hope that this time you can really get happiness.”
Bella got a little choked when she hugged her aunt and uncle, “In my heart, I already take you as my parents. I really thank you for these two years.”
She left the house where she had lived for two years with Kevin, re-embarked on a road once walked. To the airport, Kevin just booked the ticket, and Bella’s cell phone rang. She looked at her uncle’s number, and hurriedly pressed to answer, “Hello, uncle?”
“Bella, have you left yet?”
“We haven’t got on the plane. What’s up?”
She was disturbed to hear something wrong with her uncle’s voice.
“Your aunt passed out and is now on her way to the hospital.”
“She passed out?” Bella was taken aback and rushed out of the airport, “Why did she pass out? Wasn’t she fine when I left just now?”
“I don’t know. After you left, she sat on the sofa and talked to me for a while, and then suddenly felt stuffy in her chest, and then fainted.”
Kevin chased after her and grabbed Bella, “Where are you going? We’re about to board the plane.”
“Kevin, I’m sorry. I can’t go back today. My aunt suddenly passed out at home and is now rushing to the hospital. You go back. I’ll go back by myself in two days!”
Kevin was shocked, sighed, and said, “Then I won’t go back. Let’s go to see her together.”
They rushed to the hospital, saw her aunt on the bed, her face sallow. Bella was distressed, “Uncle, what did the doctor say?”
Armand’s eyes red and he replied, “Her condition has worsened. She might not survive this fall.”
Bella’s tears flowed down. Her mother died because of cancer, and now although her aunt got through three years, she still couldn’t escape the fate of death.
“Uncle, don’t be sad. Nowadays medical science is advanced, what the doctor says isn’t surely accurate.”
“The doctor said from now on she is to be hospitalized to receive treatment, but I have to work. Your aunt will be here alone …”
“I’ll take care of her.”
Bella stated with certainty.
Kevin immediately said, “How about transferring to another hospital? You come with us back to B City, so that it is convenient for Bella to take care of her. I can also ask the best doctor for the consultation.”
Armand was put in a quandary, but Bella also felt that it was more appropriate. However, her aunt who had been unconscious woke up at this time, firmly refused, “I have been very sick. Here is my hometown, and my parents are dead in this land. I am not going anywhere.”.
“Auntie, if you go to B city, you can get good treatment. Can you bear to leave my uncle alone? As long as there is a ray of hope, we can’t give up.”
Bella leaned over and persuaded Mika.
But Mika was so stubborn. No matter how hard they persuaded, she just refused to leave.
Finally, Bella said to Kevin helplessly, “She refused to go, so be it. You go back. There are so many things to deal with in the company. You can’t always stay in F city.”
Kevin couldn’t let go of Bella, “Then when will you go back?”
“When my aunt’s condition stabilizes, I’ll go back, and in the meantime, I’ll persuade her and try to get her to agree to settle back in B City.”
There was no other way, so Kevin had to agree to her proposal, reluctantly bid farewell to Bella, and went back to the B city alone.
After going back, Kevin became very busy. The market responded well to new products, and he often had to go abroad on business. He didn’t have much time to go back and forth between B city and F city, but nevertheless, the contact between him and Bella had never been broken.
Alvin by his instructions went to the F city almost every week with a bunch of nutrition. He first extended Kevin’s greetings to her aunt, before reporting to Bella Kevin’s itinerary. Time passed, and in the blink of an eye, it was April, the warm spring, flowers coming out with a rush.
This day, Bella received a phone call from a top-three hospital in F city saying that a set of liver cancer treatment plan was newly introduced there, and asking them to transfer over.
Bella was very confused. How could the hospital take the initiative to call the patient they even didn’t know? She felt incredible, and it wasn’t until that afternoon when Alvin arrived that she realized that Kevin had arranged all of this.
Mika was transferred to the best hospital in F City, where she began to receive the most advanced treatment, with all medical expenses borne by Kevin.
With the doctor’s unremitting efforts and her strong desire to live, Mika’s condition gradually had signs of improvement, and Bella was very happy. She felt even happier that on the third wedding anniversary day, Kevin actually flew all the way from Dubai to her.
It had been more than two months since they had last seen each other, and just like any other newlyweds separating for a while, they kissed each other in a passionate and lingering manner.
“Didn’t you go abroad yesterday? Why are you in F City today?”
Bella, surprised and delighted, asked him.
“I’m still on Earth. I’ll be back by rocket even if I’m on the moon on such an important day.”
She giggled, “I haven’t seen you for a few months, but you’ve become a lot slicker.”
Kevin pinched her nose, “Obviously, I’m sincere, but you have to twist it into a slick tone.”
He looked askance at the ward, “How is auntie?”
“In the past two days, her appetite has improved a lot and she looks ruddy. Her condition continues to improve.”
“That’s great.”
Kevin was genuinely happy, “Shall I go in and see her?”
“She just fell asleep. It’s better not to disturb her.”
Bella took his arm, “Since you’re back for the anniversary, is there a gift for me?”
“What do you want?”
She thought, “Whatever. I like whatever you send.”
Kevin took out a string of white gold necklace slowly from the suit pocket. The necklace was shining. The pendant was the most beautiful, a small heart-shaped, and the top was full of broken diamonds. The light was so dazzling in sunlight that people could hardly open their eyes.
“Do you like it?”
Bella smiled, “I like it.”
“I’ll put it on you.”
Kevin tenderly put the necklace on Bella’s neck for her and exclaimed, “It’s beautiful.”
Bella hugged his arm again and said coquettishly, “Is me pretty or the necklace?”
Kevin looked at her, “Both.”
Then he extended his hand, “Give me.”
“What?” She didn’t react.
“Since it’s our anniversary, you shouldn’t be the only one receiving a gift, right?”
Bella was embarrassed because she didn’t know that Kevin would come suddenly, so she didn’t prepare anything. She rolled her eyes and quickly kissed him on the cheek, “It’s the most sincere gift of this anniversary.”
Kevin was stunned for a short time, and then he laughed.
Kevin was briefly startled, then laughed in a bad mood.
Although he didn’t say anything, his expression showed that he was quite satisfied with the gift.
At noon, they went to the restaurant to have lunch. He said to Bella, “Eat more. Is it too hard to take care of patients? Why do you look so thin?”
Bella shook her head as she drank the soup, “It’s not hard. I probably miss you too much.”
Poof.
Kevin laughed again, “When all the things are done and your aunt’s condition is stable, I’ll take you on vacation.”
Bella deliberately teased, “Should we call Alice and Alvin and the others?”
“Just the two of us.”
Kevin spoiled her with a glance.
“Are you just talking without doing? You know it sticks in my throat that I didn’t see Diamond Snow until now.”
“Why are you still thinking about it?” Kevin was incredulous, “I’ve asked Alvin to check. There is no such diamond snow in the mountains of Hokkaido as you say.”
“Alvin is fooling you. He hasn’t seen it. How would he know?”
“Have you seen it, then? And how can you be sure that there must be that kind of snow?”
“My classmates have seen it.”
“Maybe your classmates are fooling you too.”
Bella sighed, “Then why don’t you buy me a house in a village at the bottom of the Hokkaido mountains, and I’ll guard it every winter. I believe I will see it.”
“Don’t even think about it.”
“Why?”
“Because I don’t plan to settle in a hellhole like that, and likewise, I’m not going to part with you.”
Bella laughed at him, “A macho man.”
“By the way, just tell Alvin not to bring so much stuff when he comes to visit my aunt next time.”
“That’s fine with me. You don’t need to ask him.”
“Oh, ask Alvin not to bring so much stuff next time. It’s a waste if we don’t eat them all.”
“Those are supplements, and will help your aunt’s recovery.”
“I know you wanted to please them, but now you’ve done it. In the past few months, you’ve arranged hospitals and visits, and you’ve done all and taken care of my aunt in every possible way. They don’t say anything, but they’re actually very grateful to you.”
Kevin looked at her gently, “Do you think I did all this just to please your uncle and aunt?”
“And why else?”
“Of course it’s for you.”
“For me?”
Bella was a little confused.
“I know very well that your uncle and aunt are the only families to you now. I don’t want the woman I love to lose her only family, so I want to guard them well for you.”
For a whole minute, Bella didn’t say a word. She was deeply moved, got up and ran to Kevin, hugged him, tearfully asked, “Why are you so good to me now?”
“A man’s word always counts, and I’ve already said I’ll be good to you.”
Kevin’s schedule was tight and he had to take an afternoon flight back to Dubai, so as soon as lunch was over, he said goodbye to her and prepared to go to the airport.
“Did you come all the way back just to have lunch with me?”
Bella grabbed his hand, a little reluctant to let him go.
“If you rest assured with your aunt, you can come with me.”
Kevin understood her reluctance, and he felt the same way.
“When can we meet next?”
“It’s up to you. I’m all around you now.”
Bella smiled coquettishly, “Then aren’t you even worried that I will fall in love with Quintin over time? We see each other all the time now. He comes to see my aunt frequently and he often takes me out to dinner.”
“What’s the use of worrying? I can’t take you everywhere I go, though I would like to.”
“Well, just kidding. Quintin and I are very good friends now.”
“Of course I know you’re joking. Quintin’s persona is already worthy of my trust.”
“Huh … So, am I not worthy of your trust?”
“You should be worth it.”
“What do you mean by it?”
Bella was sort of annoyed, “You make it clear, or don’t try to leave.”
Kevin chuckled, “Okay, I trust you very much, okay, let me go. If I don’t go to the airport, I will be too late to board.”
“Okay then, do you want a goodbye kiss?”
“Of course I do.”
They hugged each other tightly, and after a hot and long kiss, Bella said softly to Kevin’s ear, “Next time we meet, I’ll give you a surprise.”
