“Mom decided that today.”
“Do you agree to whatever she decides? You’re not going to resist her, are you?”
“But I want to go.”
Kevin speechlessly pinched his eyebrows and said seriously, “I can take you there if you want. Why do you need to go with her?”
“I still haven’t seen the diamond snow yet.”
Kevin awkwardly explained, “I really wanted to take you to Hokkaido, but what can I do if you annoy yourself and run off first?”
“I don’t blame you. I just appreciate that you’re busy with work.”
“You can tell me where you want to go. I’ll take you anywhere tomorrow, America, England, Germany, and France. You can take your pick as long as it’s on this earth.”
“Okay, don’t be ridiculous. I’m going with Mom, not with another man. Why are you nervous?”
“I’m worried about you going with my mother. She’s old in fact, but is even crazier than our young people. She won’t come back in ten days and a half months once she’s gone on a trip. She said a week at dinner just now. But I know you can’t come back in a month!”
Bella smiled stiffly, “Is that so serious?”
“It isn’t serious at all. You’ve been married for over six months. Have you seen her travel anywhere?”
“No.”
“That’s right. My father, Lena and I unanimously forbid her to go out. Once she goes out, she doesn’t come back for many days. We will be worried.”
“Well, but this time you can rest assured. I am here and we will return at the scheduled time.”
“Are you determined to go to America?”
Kevin really wanted to open the window and throw her out. He persuaded her for a long time but she didn’t listen to him at all.
“Yes, I definitely go.”
“You…” Kevin gave her a stare, rubbing his chest, “Ouch hey, my stomach hurts.”
In the end, he still couldn’t stop Bella to go to America with his mother. In fact, he didn’t know that Bella’s short separation from him now was for a better and longer time with him in the future.
Love always required sacrifice, and so did marriage.
On the way to send them to the airport, Kevin pulled a long face. After getting off the car, before Bella could open her mouth, he colorfully warned his mother, “You promised you go for a week. If you don’t come back in one week, you won’t be able to step out of the house for the rest of your life.”
“Hey, you’re still in charge of your mother, aren’t you?”
“If you’re not abducting my wife, I don’t give a shit.”
“Your wife is volunteering.”
Kevin aimed a glance at Bella. Thinking of her wanting to go last night, he was angry.
“Hurry up if you want to say goodbye, there’s not much time left.”
Bella sniffed and grabbed Kevin’s hand, dragging him aside and quietly said, “I’m not here for the week. You take care of yourself. Don’t work too hard.”
Although Kevin didn’t want to let her out of his sight, it had already reached this point. No matter how unhappy he was, he could only accept it and nodded, “You too, take care of yourself.”
“Don’t sneak around with Freya whatever her reason for asking to meet you.”
In fact, that was what was most unsettling to Bella.
He snorted, “If you’re not worried, then don’t go. It’s so good to stay by my side and watch me.”
She didn’t want to go, but if she didn’t have to, she wouldn’t go anywhere, and would stay by Kevin’s side until they both grew old.
The plane eventually took off. She was reluctant to leave Kevin. Bella went to a distant country, placing all the hopes in that country.
After sixteen hours, they arrived in Los Angeles, United States, Blanche had already booked a hotel in advance. On the way to the hotel, Blanche received a phone call. Bella listened to their talk on the phone, which should be related to her check.
After hanging up the phone, she whispered, “Mom, is it that friend of yours?”
“Yes, she asked if we’d arrived and said she wanted to take us to dinner now.”
“And why did you refuse?”
“I don’t want you to get too tired. You deserve to rest after doing a long flight. You’ll be well-rested for the inspection.”
“Well, thanks.”
She nodded gratefully. In fact, she really didn’t want to see anyone right now, let alone go eat anything.
In her heart, she was still deeply missing Kevin.
She was really tired because she hadn’t had a good rest for several nights. She didn’t get up until noon the next day. Suddenly her phone beside the pillow rang. She fumbled to take out a look. It was Kevin’s number. She was a little confused that it should be late at night at this time and why would he call her in the middle of the night?
“Hello, honey?”
“What are you doing?”
Kevin’s voice was a little husky, but it was gentle.
“I’m sleeping.”
“Why are you sleeping at this hour? Are you uncomfortable?”
“No, I’m just sleepy and taking a nap.” Bella sat up, “How about you? Why are you calling me so late?”
“I miss you.”
She chuckled softly, “But we just only separated.”
“Yeah, so how am I going to spend these next few days?”
“No matter how sad you are, don’t go looking for Freya, or I’ll go back and you will have trouble.”
“Got it.”
Kevin paused, and Bella wasn’t sure what he was going to say next, but she was somehow very uneasy.
“Bella, no matter what, if I choose you, I will never let go of you for the rest of my life. No matter what happens, I will always love you as always.”
Bella was startled, and stuttered, “Why are you suddenly so sentimental? I can’t get used to it.”
She was apprehensive, wondering if Kevin knew something.
“It’s just a whim that I really want to say this to you. It’s probably because I just had a bad dream.”
“What kind of dream did you have?”
“I had a dream that you misunderstood what happened with Freya and I and were determined to leave me. No matter how much I tried to explain it to you, you didn’t believe me…”
Bella laughed, “It’s just a dream, the opposite of the truth.”
“I know a dream is the opposite of the truth. But I still want to tell you that I love you, calmly, rationally, and without regret.”
Bella’s eyes reddened, “So do I.”
Hanging up the phone, she left the bedroom and came to her mother-in-law in the living room and inquired, “Mom, did you say something to Kevin?”
“No.”
Blanche shook her head decisively, “What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing. It’s just that he just called me, and I always think he’s weird.”
“You think too much. No one knows what we came to America for except you and me. He misses you too much.”
“Maybe…”
She nodded woodenly and fell into deep thought.
The next day, Bella followed her mother-in-law to the hospital where her friend was staying, a Chinese American who looked as kind as Blanche. Looking at the multiple pairs of banners hanging on the walls of her office, Bella saw a glimpse in hell and began to pin all her hopes on the female physician named Adiana.
“Is this your daughter-in-law?”
Adiana greeted warmly with her mother-in-law, and from their conversation, Bella learned that Adiana had thirty years of profound clinical experience in gynecology, especially fertility. So Bella had confidence.
“Bella, now let’s start the series of tests. Don’t be nervous. Relax for more accurate results.”
Adiana gently reassured her, and she cast a glance at her mother-in-law and nodded heavily, “Good.”
“The first item we check is the HSG.”
Bella lay on the bed in the imaging room, praying in her heart that let this gloom end as quickly as a nightmare and it would give her hope as what Dr. Adiana’s name meaning the nightfall showing the beauty of angels.
