Bella saw him come back so suddenly, feeling a hint of surprise, but she was still cold and said, “Didn’t I tell you to leave? Why are you back again?”
Kevin gazed at her attentively, slowly stretched out his big hand, touched the tears at her nose, and said leisurely, “If I were to really leave, you’ll never forgive me, right?”
Bella looked away in a fit of pique, noncommittal about his words.
“Don’t be mad, okay? This time it’s all my fault. I deeply know that I’m wrong. You can get back at me later. Now let’s get recovered, OK?”
Bella sniffled and turned to him, “Do you really know you’re wrong?”
“I really know.”
“Do you want me to forgive you?”
“Yes.”
“Well, then, I’ll give you a chance to be forgiven.”
“What?”
Kevin’s weary eyes glistened.
“Let’s move back home.”
Then, suddenly, he froze and he didn’t say anything. She asked, “What? Is it difficult for you?”
“I can promise you anything else, except …”
“Then don’t say anything. That’s what I want you to do for me. If you don’t agree, there’s nothing left to talk about between us.”
“Bella, you know what I’m thinking. Why are you making such a difficult request for me?”
“The more difficult the request you agree to, the more it proves that your feelings for me are extraordinary. Did you say you were sincere? Then let me feel it.”
Kevin stood up in a tangle, pinched his eyebrows and walked back and forth in the room a few times. Finally, in order to be able to make Bella forgive himself, he had no option but to agree, “Okay, I go back.”
Bella’s tense face only softened a little bit this time, and she looked askance at him, “Is it a deal?”
“It’s a deal!”
“No more fighting with Mom and Dad when you get home. No matter what they’ve done, you must love them as you always have.”
Kevin walked up to her and pressed both hands on the bed, “Don’t you think that’s a bit pushy?”
“Then why should I let you go home? Just shall you argue with them all day long?”
“Alright, I got it.”
Kevin sighed in annoyance and pointed at the breakfast bought on the table, “Eat all of it.”
“I don’t want to eat it.”
“What? I must grant your request, but you ignore mine.”
“So how about eating together?”
Bella stubbornly looked at him. He caressed his forehead and sighed, “Hey, I really can’t do anything about you.”
After Lena sent Freya home, she drove the car to the hospital again. This time, she didn’t drive as fast as she did when she came, but drove extremely slow, admiring the not so beautiful scenery along the way.
Passing a puff shop, she stopped her car to buy food for Bella. Next to the shop was a coffee shop. Lena walked straight in. Suddenly, she felt that she had caught a glimpse of a familiar figure just now. She turned back and looked into the coffee shop. Through a layer of transparent glass, she saw the window position, sitting a man and a woman. She knew the woman, a girlfriend that Alvin loved, Winifred, but the man was not Alvin .
What made her more angry was that Winifred and that man were close to each other like lovers. They were sitting together. The man held her shoulder and leaned to her ear. Lena didn’t know what the man said. But Winifred giggled so foolishly all the time that Lena felt like vomiting.
She immediately took out her cell phone and turned her back to dial Alvin ‘s number, and as soon as the call came through, she said angrily, “You should come to Left Bank Coffee.”
“What for?” Alvin was puzzled.
“Your girlfriend is flirting with another guy behind your back!”
“What nonsense are you talking about?” He clearly didn’t believe it.
“It’s true what I said. Come see for yourself if you don’t believe me!”
“I’m busy right now, and your brother isn’t in the company. So don’t make a fool of yourself.”
Lena didn’t think that Alvin didn’t believe her at all. She was furious, “Who’s messing around? Even if I like you, I won’t be silly to cast in a bone between you with Winifred. You wait, I’ll shoot it down and send it to you now!”
She hung up the phone in exasperation and turned around, ready to take a picture of Winifred and the man she was having an affair with and send it to Alvin. But she got a nasty shock that they making out in the seat she had just been in had left.
She ran inside the cafe, looking around to make sure she could no longer see Winifred, and the two half-drunk cups of coffee they drunk were still hot.
“How foolish!”
Lena patted herself on the head in frustration. How come she didn’t know to film them before she called? So that Alvin would have to trust her.
Out of the cafe, the more she thought about it, the more she felt reluctant. She got into the car, drove to the Jones-Sharp Group, and then, ragingly took the lift to the ninth floor.
When she pushed open the door of the secret room, Alvin wasn’t at his desk now. She sat down and waited for him. When she saw that the desktop of the computer monitor was actually a picture of Winifred, she was so angry that she took the mouse and changed the screen to a blue hills and green streams.
Alvin came back from outside and saw Lena sitting in his office. He asked angrily, “Haven’t you really finished yet?”
Putting the files in his hand on the desk, he sat down in the office chair and saw the computer’s newly replaced desktop, his face immediately fell, “Did you touch my computer?”
“It’s just clearing your desktop for you.”
“Who asked you to clear my desktop for me?”
“No one asked me to do this. I feel it unpleasant.”
Alvin glared, “What do I want you to feel it unpleasant for? Just as long as I look pleasing, it’s alright.”
“She cheats on you with another man behind your back. Why exactly do you feel pleasing? Is it that you just like her as a foul woman?”
“Lena!”
Alvin’s rude low growl startled her, and she looked at him blankly with an unexpected sadness. Alvin had never spoken to her in such a tone before.
“No matter what you have against Winifred, she is my woman. I forbid you to insult her in front of me. Otherwise, I will be rude to you no matter whose sister you are.”
“What? Do you want to hit me?”
Lena was also in a fury, stood in front of Alvin, and angrily scolded, “Are you blind? After two years of being with her, you don’t even know what kind of woman she is.”
“You get out of here!”
Alvin’s slender fingers pointed towards the door, not hiding his anger towards her.
Lena was shocked for a few seconds and suddenly pushed Alvin in a fit of rage, growling hysterically, “You’re an idiot, the dumbest idiot in the whole world!!!! One day, you’ll regret the way you treated me today!!!”
Bella finished receiving a drip infusion of two bottles exactly at ten o’clock. Kevin had been with her. Out of the hospital, she said to him, “Take me to school.”
“Why are you going to school when you can’t evenly stand? Go home and rest.”
“No, I’m fine.”
Bella was very insistent. Kevin knew her stubbornness. As he pulled the car door, he said, “Then let’s eat lunch together. I’ll take you to school after lunch.”
“It hasn’t been long since we ate breakfast. I’m unable to eat any more. You just take me to school.”
Kevin drove the car to the B middle School. After Bella got off the car, he was very uneasy to confirm to her, “Is it really okay?”
“It’s fine. Don’t worry. I’m not as fragile as someone, who has to go to the emergency room several times a night.”
Kevin knew what she meant with her insinuating words. He nodded, “Alright then, I’ll pick you up this afternoon.”
Only after his car drove far away, she also walked towards the school. The sun overhead was very harsh. She was about to walk to the office, blacked out and almost fell to the ground. Thanks to a pair of strong arms in time to support her, she did not fall very badly.
She slowly looked up and met Louis’s concerned eyes, quickly retracted her arms and hurriedly said, “Thank you.”
“Are you uncomfortable?”
The concern in Louis’s tone was even more obvious as she shook her head, “No, I’m going to class.”
After taking two steps forward, she suddenly found Alice standing right in front of them, looking at them lonely.
