“Okay.”
Bella agreed nicely.
She wore a thick down jacket, and on the halfway, it started to snow. When she arrived at the airport lobby, she ran in with her suitcase, patting the snowflakes on her body as she muttered, “What the hell weather. It’s not good to go to Hokkaido to see the snow.”
After waiting for twenty minutes or so, Kevin still hadn’t come over. She dialed his phone anxiously. The phone rang for a long time before he answered, “Hello?”
When she suddenly heard Kevin’s voice, she actually panicked. Why did his voice sound so gloomy?
“Haven’t you come over yet?”
“Bella, sorry, we’re not going to go today. I’m a little busy right now.”
Feeling her heart jump, Bella was petrified on the spot, and only after a while did she sniffed, her nose red, and asked, “Is it important? I think our trip important too.”
Kevin seemed to feel guilty, “Well, I’ve asked Alvin to pick you up and take you home. I’ll see you tonight.”
Hanging up the phone in a muddle, Bella could no longer describe what she was feeling. It was complicated, sad, and lost.
After ten minutes, Alvin drove to the airport, and he ran to Bella with an umbrella, “Madam, Mr. Jones-Sharp had something to do temporarily, and asked me to send you home.”
She didn’t say anything and got into the car.
He slowly started the engine, and drove into the vast snow. Bella rest her head against the window. She couldn’t stop comforting herself, “It’s okay. It doesn’t have to go to Hokkaido. I can also see the snow here. It’s okay. It doesn’t have to be two people. I can also do it by myself.”
Alvin saw through the reflector that Bella was in a bad mood, and casually spoke out to comfort, “Madam, it’s just postponed. You can go again afterwards.”
“Where is he now?”
“He’s out on an errand.”
Alvin replied with a twinkle in his eye, and Bella immediately felt something wrong, “What kind of business?”
“Well… I didn’t ask.”
“Did you not ask or did you not want to tell me?”
Bella asked further.
“I didn’t ask.”
“Are you still trying to lie to me, Alvin? Don’t think I don’t know that you’re the worst at lying. If you’re doing it for his own good, you should tell me everything about him. Because I’m the only one who can open up his new life chapter.”
Bella’s words shook Alvin a bit, but he actually wanted to confess from the beginning.
“I heard that Freya seems to have returned.”
This sentence liked a time bomb, caused Bella’s mind blank. The car was heated and she was wearing warm clothes, but she still couldn’t stop shivering.
It was cold.
“How did he know?”
“On his way to the office this morning, he saw a figure that looked very much like her, so he went after her. He has still been searching for her.”
Bella was sad and didn’t want to say anything else.
Alvin understood that she was feeling bad, and said politely, “Don’t worry. Kevin’s feelings for you can’t be shaken by anyone.”
“Can’t Freya do it?”
“She shouldn’t.”
Should? Well, what an ironic compliment! Even a fool knew the word meant that it couldn’t be sure.
The car parked outside the Cloud Mansion. Bella got off woodenly, and the guard took her luggage with an umbrella. She asked Alvin, “Do you want to go inside and sit for a while?”
“No. I have work to do.”
Alvin left her with a meaningful glance and drove to leave.
Blanche saw that Bella had only been out for less than an hour and came back, surprised, “Didn’t you say you were leaving for a trip today? Why are you back again?”
“It’s postponed.”
Bella replied weakly.
“Postponed? Why is it postponed?”
“Kevin is a little inconvenienced.”
“What’s so important that he postponed the trip? I have to teach him a lesson when he comes back at night.”
Bella smiled bitterly, “Mom, it’s fine. A man takes his career as his priority. We can go on a journey at any time.”
Relieved, Blanche patted Bella’s shoulder, “You’re always so reasonable.”
In the evening, Kevin came back very late, and Bella didn’t ask where he had gone and why he stood her up. But of course, Kevin didn’t tell her.
She pretended to be sleeping very soundly. He didn’t wake her up. He just took a shower and kissed her forehead, then fell heavily on the bed and turned off the bedside lamp.
In the darkness, she clearly heard a heavy sigh from him.
The next day, Bella woke up early in the morning and picked out the clothes she wanted to wear for Kevin. Then she went to the gym and stood on the treadmill and ran as hard as she could.
Sweating all over, she returned to the bedroom. Kevin woke up and looked at her tenderly, “Did you go for a run?”
“Yeah.”
She took the towel and wiped the fine beads of sweat from her face. Then she picked up the clothes he was going to wear and handed them over, “Quickly wash up and go downstairs for breakfast.”
When she turned to leave, Kevin pulled her arm, “Won’t you ask me why I suddenly changed our schedule?”
She looked away, “You have your own reasons for everything you do. If you want to talk about it, you will say it even if I don’t ask you. But if you don’t want to talk about it, it will be a waste of time to ask you.”
” I…”
Kevin was about to confess, but then he stopped saying, “Never mind. It’s nothing. I will definitely take you to Hokkaido.”
Bella shrugged and turned away, mocking herself.
For the next few days, Kevin returned extremely late every day, and finally, Bella couldn’t bear it anymore.
She decided to have a showdown with Kevin.
It was another cold night, but didn’t snow outside. The wind was blowing extremely. Even with the window closed, she could hear the crackling sound of tree branches.
As soon as Kevin returned home, he found Bella sitting on the sofa watching TV. He took off his deep black trench coat and asked softly, “Why are you still awake?”
“What are you back so late?”
He was stunned, uncomfortable with her questioning the reason for his late arrival for the first time.
“Something’s up.”
“What happened?”
Kevin froze again, probably not expecting her to pursue the question so repeatedly.
“What’s wrong?”
He sat down beside her and looked puzzled.
“I just wanted to know why you’ve been coming home nights these days.”
“I told you I had something to do.”
“Is it the search for Freya?”
Kevin suddenly froze, and only after a while did he ask, “How do you know?”
“There are no forever secret in this world, and you know everything I want to hide from you. So how can you hide what you want to hide from me?”
“Yes, I am looking for her again.”
Kevin didn’t deny it.
“Why? Why do you want to find her? What do you want after you find her?”
“I don’t want anything. I just want to know why she betrayed me in the first place.”
Bella’s eyes were red-rimmed. She tried her best to suppress her tears, “In order to find the answer in your heart, you disregarded my feelings. Do you know why I want to go to Hokkaido to see the snow? You don’t think I can ski, do you? No, I can ski. But the reason I want to see the snow is that I heard a legend a long time ago that in Hokkaido at dawn you can see a kind of diamond snow.As long as the two people in love see this kind of snow, they will love each other for the rest of their lives and will never be separated. I even want to wait to see it. Even if freezing to death in that place, I must be with you to see it together with our own eyes.”
She finally shed tears out of control, and Kevin was heartbroken and took her into his arms, “You’re a fool. I will not think of anything else even though I am already married to you.”
“You are already married to me, so does the answer to her betraying you still matter?”
Bella’s retort caused Kevin to be speechless for a moment.
