Chapter 64 Hidden Secrets(2)

Book:The CEO's Seventh Bride Published:2024-5-1

He knew that she was avoiding him. A woman took the initiative to confess to a man, but was rejected. He could understand her embarrassment and disappointment. So, these days he had been thinking about how to ease the stiff relationship between them.
After much deliberation, he sent her a text message, “Are you free tonight? Let’s talk.”
After waiting for a full half hour, and not waiting for her reply, he just dialed her. The phone was connected, but no one answered.
After calling three or four times in a row, Bella didn’t answer. She didn’t have the courage to answer. She was afraid that Kevin would say, “Since we can no longer get along as we did in the past, let’s separate.”
She knew very well how short Kevin’s marriage had been, and she knew even better, as of today, her marriage to Kevin had lasted exactly three months.
What he said on the day of the wedding was still ringing in her ears, but she didn’t expect that it would be over in the blink of an eye.
“At six o’clock in the evening, I’ll be waiting for you at 35°C bar.”
The second text message from Kevin was sent, and Bella hesitated deeply.
At 5 pm, after finishing a meeting, Kevin prepared to head to 35°C bar, and called Bella before leaving. But she still refused to answer.
Alvin pushed the door and walked in, saw his expression and asked teasingly, “You’re annoyed by love, right?”
“What a wild guess.”
“Don’t you dare say you don’t like your new wife? Do you know how long you’ve been married?” Alvin pointed at the calendar by his desk, “For three months. It breaks the record of the previous six marriages.”
Kevin really didn’t expect that he and Bella had already been together for three months, and at the same time, also suddenly understood the reason why she didn’t answer his phone.
He quickly edited a text message over, “I have something to talk about with you, but not the divorce.”
He thought that Bella would answer the phone then, but she didn’t. He felt a little frustrated and threw the phone on the table.
“There are only two possibilities for a woman not answering the phone. Either she is too fond of you or feels you too annoying.”
Kevin didn’t respond to his assertion.
“She may be too annoyed with being too fond of you.”
He went on to assert. Kevin roared, “That’s a stage that’s only possible for Romeo and Juliet.”
“So can you be frank that you really don’t like Bella at all?”
Alvin had been working with Kevin for more than ten years. They were so close, and were frank to each other.
“You know very well who I love.”
“You care about her. You may have a bit of other affection, like family affection or friendship, right?”
“Yes. But it’s not clear.”
“What feelings can’t be made clear?”
Kevin sighed slightly, “It’s a little less than love, but a little more than friendship.”
“Isn’t that just family affection?”
“Maybe.”
He got up and looked at the watch on his wrist, “I have to leave beforehand. Aren’t you off duty?”
“I’m leaving.”
Kevin sat in the 35°C box, waiting for Bella. Although he knew that she might not be in a good mood, he believed that she would come because she wouldn’t always run away from reality.
In fact, he still knew her. When Bella came, she seemed to look good. But she indeed looked faintly sad.
“Are you planning to keep avoiding me?”
Kevin looked directly at her and asked helplessly.
“No, I just wanted to wait until my thoughts were completely sorted out before I faced you.”
“I’m sorry if I’ve made you sad. I’m not a good man, but you are a good woman. I don’t deny that I have a crush on you, but that can’t be a reason to accept you. Because in my heart, Freya has never left. So it would be unfair to you and a burden on myself. I can’t love two people at the same time. I believe that this love is not what you want either.”
“Got it.”
Bella suppressed the great sadness and said with a forced smile, “Order something to eat. I’m hungry.”
“Good.”
Kevin knew she was sad, but couldn’t comfort her. Because in his position, comforting was hypocrisy.
He ordered a lot of sumptuous dishes. Bella laughed bitterly, “You really don’t like me. There’s a large part of dishes that I don’t like to eat.”
Kevin was a little embarrassed, “Then I’ll tell them to remove and re-up.”
“No, I can make do with them.”
They ate the meal in silence. They were occasionally looking at each other, but immediately looked away.
So Bella thought there was no greater distance in the world than this, right?
“What are your plans for the future? Will you still stay in our house?”
“If you don’t kick me out, I’ll stay here.”
“Even without love?” Kevin asked cautiously.
“I have stayed here without love for three months. It’s okay.”
Indeed, every couple didn’t necessarily come together because they loved each other. Two people who were in love and got married after spending some time together. Did they dare to say how deeply they loved each other?
How many of the couples who got married for various reasons really loved each other? They married because they got along, and more because they were suitable.
There was nothing wrong with being together because of being suitable, quarreling throughout the lifetime. Although occasionally at sunset, there may be some regret that why couldn’t we stay together because of love …
“Are you going home?”
Out of 35°C bar, Kevin asked Bella, who was beside him.
“No, you can go back first. I have something else to do.”
“Do you need a ride?”
“No, it’s not too far.”
Kevin nodded, “Okay then, be careful.”
Seeing his car gradually disappeared in the distance, Bella walked to the nearby theater, and then watched an unintelligible movie. Looking around, she found others focused and intoxicated, and suddenly knew what the loneliness was.
After three months, Bella was still staying in the Jones-Sharps, which broke the rumor that Kevin’s marriage never lasted more than three months. Gillian was so jealous that she decided not to wait any longer to expose Bella’s lies in any way.
Thinking about it, she still decided to start with that idiot, but that idiot’s father was obviously in cahoots with Bella. It seemed she had to find another person. Gillian listed several related people, and finally targeted Armand.
Of course, Armand knew Gillian, but had never contacted with her, so he was surprised at her sudden invitation.
“What are you looking for me for?”
He was not very friendly and hostile.
Gillian smiled in amusement, “Why are you so cold to me? Although I’m not related to you by blood, I am related to your niece by blood. For my sister’s sake, you shouldn’t be so cold to me, should you?”
“For the sake of my dead sister, I don’t think I should be friendly to you, even if it’s a little bit worse.”
“Aunt Selina died of illness. It has nothing to do with our family, so why are you being raging at me?”
Armand slapped the table and roared angrily, “Don’t say such ungrateful words, or be aware of being punished by God!”
Gillian was shocked by his savage action, nodding, “Okay, let’s get back to business.”
“I’m asking you out to talk about my sister’s matter. Why did you sell my sister?”
“What are you talking about? When did I sell her?”
“Didn’t you sell her to that idiot named Braxton for a hundred thousand dollars?”
Armand was taken aback, and frowned, “How did you know about this?”
“So is that really the case?”
“I don’t know.”
Gillian was certain of the truth from his astonished look, and seeing that he would not admit it, she sighed.
“Don’t hide it from me, my sister has told me that you did this. I really didn’t expect you to be so depraved, selling a normal person to a fool. How can Aunt Selina rest in peace when you did such a thing?”
“You’re the ones who lost your conscience. If it wasn’t for your mother and your father’s heartlessness, how would Bella have been forced to go this far? It was the Burne-Browns that ruined her life, and my sister will one day turn into a fierce ghost to avenge herself and her daughter!”
“Oh, uncle, why are you arguing with me when you don’t agree with me? I’m here to discuss strategies with you on how to call off that marriage. Even though she is my half sister, I can’t bear to see her marry a fool.”
She beckoned the waiter, “Serve us food and bring some wine.”
Armand said with a gloomy face, “I have no appetite to eat with you.”
“Then let’s settle the matter between my sister and that idiot, okay?”
“Don’t pretend to be compassionate! You don’t care about Bella at all.”
“My relationship with her isn’t as bad as you think. If we’re not on good terms, how would I know about Braxton? Bella is annoyed right now. With that idiot Braxton and that crazy Kevin, she can’t afford to offend, and is still having a hard time.”
