Chapter 50 Uninvited Guests

Bella sent Louis away before she looked at the man she had been ignoring for so long.
“Kevin, do you know that you are very abnormal? I’m simply dispensable to you, what the hell are you doing coming over here in the middle of the night?”
“Thinking yourself worthless, so is it why you’re so depraved?”
Kevin was gloomy. All the way here, he was thinking again about how he was going to apologize to her, but he was sad to see Bella being so intimate with other man.
“Watch your wording. How have I degenerated myself?”
He raised the watch on his hand, “You made out with a man downstairs at a friend’s house at midnight. Can you explain it?”
“First, we’re not making out. Second, even if he did something to me, what’s the matter with you?”
Bella’s sharp retort made Kevin’s temples throb with anger.
“So you’re admitting that you are having an adulterous affair.”
As if hearing the most ridiculous joke in the world, Bella justifiably held her head up, “Is it only allowed you to find men for me, but not for me to find a man myself?”
“Aren’t you ashamed of being a nurturing teacher to say things like that? You’re righteous when you commit adultery behind your husband!”
“It’s you who should be ashamed. You’re the one who gave away your own wife. Don’t pretend to be right.”
“You also shouldn’t take the occasional mistakes made by others as a reason to indulge yourself. You will not behave yourself if nothing provoke you. Since you are born with it.”
Kevin was regretted as soon as he finished speaking. He was obviously here to apologize, but all he said was unkind.
Bella was clearly hurt. Her eyes were tearful. Gillian had sarcastically mocked her many times, but she had long been immune to it. When hearing it from Kevin’s mouth, she was unprecedentedly sad.
Maybe it was because even if the whole world could look down on her, at least her nominal husband shouldn’t.
“If you came here late at night just to ridicule me, then congratulations, you did it.”
Bella turned away gloomily. Staring at her injured back, Kevin really wanted to hit himself.
“Next time, it won’t happen.”
With deep self-loathing, he strode forward and stopped her.
“What?”
She looked up and asked calmly.
“I won’t be betting Bella against anyone else again.”
She was moved lightly but didn’t want to say anything and silently walked away from him.
Kevin saw that she didn’t move, and in a rush, he finally threw away his pride and yelled out, “I’m sorry…”
Even though it was hard to wait, but fortunately, she got it. Bella had some urge to shed tears. She still didn’t say a word and walked forward in the same pace until she completely disappeared before his eyes.
The feeling of frustration, being ignored, the pain in her body, intertwined together. Kevin finally believed the saying that women were born to torment men.
The next day in the evening, he returned home from the office. As soon as he entered the door, he glimpsed a woman sitting on the sofa. He suddenly felt good.
Bella, however, was apparently not very happy to see him. They looked at each other for a short time, then he turned away indifferently and walked to another place.
At the time of dinner, the atmosphere returned to the previous lively. Lena talked about everything, and Blanche had a good appetite.
For Bella’s reasons for leaving home these days, everyone knew it, but no one would mention it.
As soon as dinner was over, Bella went upstairs. She sat in the room to remove the gauze bandage on her hands, ready to put on some medicine to re-bandage it.
Due to the injuries on both hands, it was difficult for her to move around. But she stubbornly gritted her teeth and refused to trouble her family.
Kevin leaned against the door and stared at her for a while, but she didn’t notice. He couldn’t help but think that this woman was really overly stubborn.
Ahem….
Deliberately coughing to get her attention, he loosened the hand around his chest and stepped inside.
“If you’re trying to pick a fight with me, I’m sorry. I’m not available right now.”
Bella glanced up at him, then looked down and continued what she was doing.
“Do you think I’m there just to quarrel with you?” Kevin grabbed her hand, and he applied the medicine for her gently.
He was so kind abnormally. Bella wanted to retract her hand, but he unpleasantly reprimanded, “Don’t move. You’re clumsy. I’m so anxious.”
Bella sighed, and said sincerely, “Are you schizophrenic? You’re so good to me at one time and bad to me at another. Do you know it’s easy to torture me into madness?”
“Well, yeah, I know.”
He nodded frankly.
“You’re still like this.”
“I’ve done some deep reflection on myself, so don’t worry, I’ll try to treat you well from now on.”
“Really?”
She was suddenly a little flattered.
“I thought my attitude was convincing, but what, do I look like I’m lying?”
“I can’t think of a reason why you’ve suddenly decided to treat me well.”
“Because bullying you isn’t a fun, but laborious.”
Kevin replied naturally, and Bella couldn’t help but laugh, “It’s true that it’s quite laborious. In order to defend a husband’s rights, great machismo, you get that bruise on your face. Do Mom, Dad and Lena know why your face look like that?”
“If you dare to talk too much, I’ll immediately eat my words.”
As expected, he valued his self-respect. Kevin would not say that the bruise on his face was because of a fight with a woman.
He bound up a wound for her. He straightened up and took something from his trouser pocket and handed it to her, “This is for you.”
Bella suddenly opened her eyes wide. Wasn’t this the jade bracelet Blanche gave her in the first place? This guy was up to something again.
“What for?”
“There’s a pretty deep cut there on your wrist. If it leaves a scar, wear this to cover it.”
She curled her lip, “Are you really going to hurt me and beg for forgiveness with honeyed words?”
Kevin shoved the bracelet into her hand without good grace, “This is worth much more than honeyed words.”
Bella was startled as she gazed at the bracelet that had been shoved into her hand, and smiled relievedly.
In the next few days, Kevin seemed to have really made a deep reflection and was much friendlier to her than before, so she slowly felt good.
In the blink of an eye, summer arrived, and the busy life began to become leisurely. At noon on this day, Bella was just about to take a nap, but she unexpectedly received a call from her uncle, asking her to come out to meet him.
She had a bad feeling at the moment. It was never a good thing for her uncle to look for her.
She changed her clothes, and arrived at the appointed place, the Avebury Teahouse in the city center.
As soon as she entered, she caught a glimpse of her uncle, who was sitting in the first row. She suddenly froze, and then looked paled.
“Bella, here, here.”
Armand waved his arms in greeting towards his niece, who took a deep breath and walked heavily over.
Trying to fake a smile, she greeted the man opposite her uncle, “Uncle, long time no see.”
The middle-aged man who was called Richard slowly looked up, looking sharp and shrewd as a businessman, “Bella, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen each other, and I was originally worried that you wouldn’t recognize me after seeing me.”
Bella put down the bag in her hand and slowly sat down, “You are my benefactor. I can’t forget you.”
“It’s quite rare that you still remember.”
Richard nodded meaningfully, took the ceramic cup in front of him and sipped it lightly.
He was a wealthy man who started from scratch. His family was particularly poor when he was young, and his name at that time wasn’t called Richard. But later on, after he got rich, he changed his original name Ben Cotton to his current name, Richard Cotton, to demonstrate his determination to become the richest in the world.
“What is it that Uncle is doing in B City this time?”
Bella was apprehensive about the question.
Her uncle on the side stared at her unhappily, “Look at you, you know his purpose, but still ask knowingly.”
Richard instead smiled unconcernedly, “Maybe she forgot or not. If she remembered, she wouldn’t have let me find her.”
To be honest, if it wasn’t for his sudden appearance today, Bella would have really forgotten that her fate was in his hands.
“I’ve been a bit busy, so I didn’t go back to see Braxton.”
“It’s because you’re busy marrying someone else, right?”
She was nervous and gave her uncle an evil eye, but Armand saw her condemning look with an innocent expression.
“You know all about it. I am just about to take the time to go back and explain to you.”
“You don’t need to explain. Your uncle explained everything to me. I just ask you, when do you plan to end this marriage and fulfill your promise?”
She had to face it, and although it’s a bit unkind, Bella still said bravely, “I’m sorry, Uncle Richard, let’s cancel our original agreement.”
“Cancel?”
Richard sneered, “As expected, you think our agreement can be nullified now that you’ve married into a noble family, right?”
“I’m sorry for such a breach of contract, but I really can’t keep my original promise now, and I’ll pay you back double that hundred thousand dollars, so please let me go.”
