He was inches away from her. When he spoke, his breath blew on her face.
Summer had signed the share transfer agreement, so by right, she owned Emerson Group and was the boss.
Yet, which boss on Earth would be intimidated by his or her own employee like that?
Leonardo seemed to be enjoying it. Tilting his head, he looked Summer in the eye as if he could see through her.
“Tell me, Boss, how do you want me to please you—emotionally or physically? Either way, I’m okay with it.”
Leonardo had a smile on his face, making him look gentler than before. He seemed more like a flirty man than the president of Emerson Group.
Summer chuckled as she put her hand on his chest. “Which do you think I would prefer—emotionally or physically?”
He squinted, swallowed hard, and caught her hand that was pressed against his chest. “I think you’d prefer the latter.” While he spoke, his eyes stayed on her, and he curled his lips up like a beast waiting to devour its prey. It was terrifying and sultry at the same time.
Knowing that she could not win the flirting game, she pushed him away and sorted out her clothing, pretending to be calm. “Didn’t you say that you were hungry? Start the car and let’s go for dinner now.”
Leonardo continued to gaze at her. “It doesn’t matter if I eat my dinner or not.”
Summer remembered that Leonardo had been a dab hand at flirting three years ago.
“I’ll deduct your pay if you don’t start the car!” She raised her voice and pulled an angry face.
Leonardo was stupefied for a second before he burst out laughing.
Judging from his laughter, she knew that he was in a good mood. Never mind that she had no idea why he felt so happy. She started to laugh with him.
Leonardo threw his mobile phone over to her. “Give Carl a call.”
He then fired up the engine.
Summer thought he had something to tell Carl, so she dialed Carl’s number and thoughtfully put the mobile phone against Leonardo’s ear.
“Come and have lunch at the Golden Cauldron.” He paused for a second, then added, “Bring Warren along.”
Without waiting for Carl to speak, he turned to Summer. “Done.”
He indicated that she could hang up now.
Summer took the mobile phone back and said a few things to Carl before she hung up.
“Leonardo’s driving now. See you around.”
Carl looked at his mobile phone and sank into thought. Leonardo had called him up with his own phone and told him to have dinner at the Golden Cauldron, but Summer was the one who had hung up. Based on the brief moment of conversation, he quickly figured it out: Leonardo and Summer were on good terms again, and their relationship had never been better.
Thinking of his single self, Carl could not have felt sadder. He sighed and called Warren.
“I’m not going,” Warren sneered after he heard what Carl said.
“Why? It’s not like Leonardo invites us for lunch every day.” The last time Leonardo invited him for lunch or dinner seemed to be a lifetime ago.
“I said, I’m not going.” Warren was adamant.
Carl could not do anything about it. He did not try to persuade Warren further and decided to go to the Golden Cauldron alone.

When he arrived at the restaurant, Leonardo and Summer were already there. The food had also been served to the table.
What surprised him was that his favorite dishes were among the food on the table.
He felt so touched and was almost tearful as he looked at Leonardo. “I’m surprised that you remember my favorite dishes!”
He suddenly noticed that the color on Leonardo’s face changed as soon as his voice trailed off.
“What- What’s going on?” He cautiously sat down. What was wrong with him expressing his emotions?
Leonardo looked over at Summer coldly.
Summer then glanced at Carl. “I ordered these dishes.”
“How did you know that I liked these dishes?” It never crossed his mind that Summer would be the one to order them.
Summer patted Leonardo on the hand. He hissed, but at least his face appeared better now.
“Jessica mentioned it once when we had lunch together in the past. I have a good memory,” Summer explained.
Carl was startled for a moment, and he chuckled with little emotion. “Nothing good about me usually comes out of her mouth. I guess she must have been foaming at the mouth when she spoke about it.”
Summer shrugged.
Jessica normally vented her frustrations about Carl in front of Summer. During the many lunches and dinners that Summer and Jessica shared, Jessica had inadvertently revealed Carl’s likes as well as dislikes.
Summer had listened to Jessica a lot of times and stored some of the information in her memory. However, those two knew each other really well.
Summer glanced over at Leonardo. “Let’s dig in.”
Leonardo glanced back in an unfriendly manner before he tucked in without a word.
“Why are you angry again?” she asked him softly.
“I’m not.”
She served him a chunk of meat, and he put it aside.
Was that not anger?
The man’s temper was like the weather in June; it changed every minute.
Thinking back, Summer realized that before Carl arrived, Leonardo still looked normal.
All of a sudden, he just got angry. Apart from ordering Carl’s favorite dishes, she could not think of anything that would offend Leonardo. She had no idea how he could be so petty.
“You should go and get your liver checked if you have the time.”
Leonardo peered at her again before he resumed his meal.
“Angry men have bad livers,” she added.
Leonardo put down his chopsticks. “Summer!” He did not sound pleased.
“Why are you shouting at me?” She raised her chin and knocked him on the head.
Leonardo was stunned. He rubbed the spot that Summer had knocked into, and for a moment, he forgot how to react.
She had never seen Leonardo so clueless. “Please behave if you want to marry me!” She raised one of her brows.
Leonardo looked away and said nothing. There was no discernible expression on his face.
She suddenly wondered if she had gone a little overboard.
Just as doubt started to fill her, Leonardo submissively replied, “Okay.”
