Jane was in her apartment, looking excitedly at her phone.
“Herman, did you see… the White Group put out the word that they will never give any convenience because of Amanda’s identity!”
“Does that mean that Miller White doesn’t care about his wife at all? Just married her for some reason?”
“Haha, Amanda, I’ll see how long can you be proud of yourself?”
Jane was agitated when George came over drunk, and the agent withdrawed wisely.
“George, what are you doing here so late?”
“I missed you,” George said, cupping his hand over her waist.
“George, don’t, I’m still pregnant.” Jane pushed back.
“It doesn’t matter, didn’t we have sex the other day?” He plopped her down on the bed.
A long time later, George had fallen asleep, but Jane stayed awake, walking over to the window in her nightgown, surveying the man on the bed by the moonlight.
She used to think that George was good in every way, but now that she had greater ambitions, she couldn’t see George any better than that man.
How nice it would be if Miller was the one sleeping here now.
A deep jealousy of Amanda rose in Jane’s heart at the thought.
“Amanda, you wait for me, one day, everything you have will be mine!”
On the other side, in the White family’s residence.
After seeing the video, Bette arrived at the White family overnight to discuss a strategy with Amanda.
“Amanda, public opinion will always be on the side of the weak, so tomorrow at the press conference, you clarify.”
“Well, do they have any more back up?”
“I have asked people to look for evidence, but it may be cannon fodder. They will make a good profit if they can screw up your reputation.”
“It’s not up to them to make a profit or not, Bette, don’t worry, I’ll see what I can do.”
After talking to Bette, Amanda was surprised to find Miller White still in the study and she knocked on the door.
“Still busy?”
“Come here.” Miller White replied, closing the computer.
A group of senior executives of the company were in a video conference. They watched as the big screen went dark and their president disappeared without even saying a word, all looking at each other.
“I think I just heard the voice of the president’s wife?”
“I heard that too!”
“So, are we going to wait?”
At that moment, Gary said, “The president has something to do, the meeting is adjourned.”
Then he walked out, leaving the crowd with tacit smiles, and left one by one.
……
Amanda walks over, unable to prevent being pulled by a man, and sitting on his lap, he looks unhappy.
“You’re my wife, what can anyone else say?”
Amanda slipped her arm around his neck and leaned into the crook of his arm, “Don’t be mad at me, I want to with you and not let people say you married a vase.”
Miller White was stunned for a moment and said unnaturally, “You know all about it?”
After he made the public announcement of their marriage, some of the company patriarchs did bring up their grievances against Amanda, but they didn’t say much under his suppression.
“Miller, maybe you’re used to being alone, but I don’t want you to be so tired, I want to stand taller, and then stay upright by your side.”
Miller white had always been asked to work hard and live up to his expectations, but no one had ever said to him, “I don’t want him to be so tired.”
He couldn’t describe what he was feeling at the moment, and a low voice sounded over Amanda’s head a little while later.
“I know, and I’ll support you in all your decisions.”
