Chapter 487 I Don’t Feel Like Talking to a Stupid Woman

Book:CEO's Substitute Wife Published:2024-5-1

Summer looked at Stanley and then back at Leonardo, who had been conscious the entire time. Thus, he naturally did not know what “feeling” Stanley was talking about.
However, Summer knew it.
If Leonardo had not pinched her hand and created the sensation of pain, Stanley might have hypnotized her.
She could not describe the experience. For a moment, she felt as if she was no longer herself. Her surroundings became quiet and white. She had no idea where to go and what to say.
Stanley stared at Leonardo with a solemn expression.
Leonardo leaned back in the chair, looking and sounding indolent. “I understand. After all, you’re just a psychologist. Hypnosis and psychology may be of the same school, but they are different.”
Stanley’s expression remained unpleasant.
His lips twitched, and he forced a smile. “Indeed, I am not up to snub yet. What an embarrassment.”
Stanley was a very poised man. Summer had witnessed him lose his composure a handful of times, and those few occasions all happened to be in front of Leonardo, whose abilities could not be matched by ordinary individuals.
“It was a little funny,” he said indifferently. This man never minced his words.
Summer could not help but glance at him.
He stood up, dug his hands into the pockets of his dress pants, looking nonchalant.
“Let’s go,” he said to Summer.
She was transfixed for a moment. “Why don’t you go first.”
She was there to see Stanley and seek answers to her questions.
Leonardo looked at her and then at Stanley before he sat down again. “Make it quick, then.”
Summer had the feeling that Leonardo did not trust her, as though there was some hanky-panky going on between her and Stanley. She bit her lip. “This is between me and Stanley. It has nothing to do with you.” Her voice sounded cold.
She remained patient all the time while Leonardo did whatever he wanted to her just because he had amnesia.
As if that was not enough, he was now staring at her with such an expression. She could no longer stand it.
Leonardo’s expression collapsed instantly.
“Nothing to do with me?” He sneered, “Summer, say that again if you dare.”
Summer accepted the challenge. “It has nothing to do with you.”
She looked at him provocatively as she finished.
Great things happened to those who dared to try, right?
It was her first time repeating words that angered him, to his face. It felt so good.
Leonardo looked at Summer with a ghastly expression.
“It’s all right. I don’t mind telling Mr. Emerson.”
When Summer looked over at him, he just smiled. “Three years ago, when Summer was expecting to deliver her baby in Australia, she saw some people fighting on one particular night. You called the police, didn’t you?”
Summer’s seemed blank after she heard what he said.
Aware that she had probably forgotten, Stanley wore a sad smile on his face. “It happened a long time ago, so it’s natural that you don’t remember it. But I’m grateful to you. If you hadn’t called the police back then, I wouldn’t be here talking to you.”
“I’m sorry.” Summer pursed her lips.
She had indeed forgotten, probably because it happened a long time ago. It could also be due to the fact that it was only something trivial, which never registered in her mind.
However, Stanley never forgot and had even saved her life three years ago. He was an appreciative person.
“If you hadn’t saved my life three years ago, I wouldn’t be here talking to you either,” she lamented.
Leonardo, who had been silent the whole time, suddenly got up and pulled Summer toward the door.
“What are you doing? I’m not done yet!” Summer had no idea what was going on with Leonardo, whose erratic behavior made him look like a child.
She tried to free herself from him but failed. She could not shake his hand away.
His grip on her was powerful.
Leonardo pulled her up and looked at Stanley. “I know that you’re still single, but I would appreciate your understanding. As parents, we are worried about our child staying at home alone. That’s all for today, Mr. Bates.”
“Of course, I understand.” Stanley smiled at Summer. “See you next time, Summer.”
“Good—”
Before she could finish her sentence, Leonardo had dragged her outside.
Once they were out of Stanley’s clinic, Summer shook Leonardo’s hand away, opened the car door, and got in the car. She did not forget to slam the door shut.
“You’re freaking childish, Leonardo!”
She tucked her hair behind her ear in frustration. “I don’t know why you can’t see eye to eye with Stanley, he has saved my life before. I can’t possibly avoid him and not talk to him just because you’re not happy about it, more so when we haven’t done anything inappropriate!”
“You saved him once, and he saved you once—you’re even. So, what’s the point of seeing him again?” While Leonardo spoke, he fired up the engine. His voice was cold and lacking in emotion.
She looked at him in disbelief. “You were never this callous in the past, Leonardo!”
“Neither were you this stupid last time!” he sneered.
“You can’t even remember our time together. How would you know how I was like last time?”
There was instantly a silence in the car. Only the sound of breathing could be heard.
Leonardo clutched the steering wheel, his knuckles turning white. He clenched his jaw and pressed his lips into a thin line.
“Aren’t you talking anymore?” Summer became aggressive.
“I don’t feel like talking to a stupid woman.” His hoarse voice came only after a long while of silence.
“I’m ‘sorry’ to see you eat the meals prepared by a stupid woman and see you have a child with said woman too.” She stared at him. Her voice could not be colder.
“Summer!” He suddenly stepped on the brake pedal in anger, which produced a loud grating sound as a result.
“You remember everything, huh, Leonardo? You think I’m stupid, and you’ve displayed it all over your face for the past two days. You thought I couldn’t sense it? I may not be as smart as you are, but that doesn’t mean I’m brainless!”
“If you have brains, why are you still treating Stanley as your savior?” His tone did not sound any better than hers. “He saved you on purpose in front of Carl, can’t you see that?”
She did not budge. “So what if that’s true? He still saved my life. Even though I was bedridden and in a vegetative state for three years in hospital, he never gave up on me. Just based on that alone, no matter what his intentions were, he’s still my savior. I owe it to him! You think—Mmm…”
Her lips were blocked before she could finish. Taken aback, her eyes were wide open.
Leonardo’s handsome face was right in front of her, but he lowered his eyes without any emotion.
He pulled her into his arms and held her tightly by the waist with one hand. Meanwhile, he clutched her jaw with the other as he descended on her with his fervent kisses.
Tasting blood again in her mouth, Summer knew that he had bitten her lips again.
