Chapter 465 Down to Earth

Once Summer received a reply from Leonardo, she hung up without any further questions.
After the line went dead, Leonardo stared at his mobile phone for a long while before he put it down.

He returned to his mansion after work, then took Rosie with him as he went over to Summer’s place.
When the father and daughter arrived, Summer had not finished cooking.
She was making a stewed veggie dish with mushrooms inside, which gave out a strong, fresh aroma.
“It smells so good!” Rosie started to run into the kitchen as soon as she stepped into the house and detected the aroma.
Her voice was lively, a little loud but not over the top.
Summer walked out of the kitchen when she heard Rosie’s voice.
“Rosie?” She did not expect Leonardo to bring Rosie along.
“Mommy!” Rosie ran over and gave her thighs a big hug. “I miss you!”
Summer’s heart melted, and she carried Rosie up in her arms. “Mommy misses you too.”
Rosie licked her lips and widened her eyes as she poked her head to look into the kitchen. “It smells good. What’s that?”
Summer chuckled as she carried Rosie into the kitchen. “Mommy’s cooking. The smell will get better.”
There was a small stool in the kitchen. Summer had gotten it for Rosie to stand on whenever she did the dishes.
Summer put her down on the floor, and she scurried to take the stool over. Rosie placed it in front of the stove and stood on it.
However, it was too close to the stove, so Summer held Rosie up and pulled the stool a few inches back before she allowed Rosie to stand on the stool again.
She unlidded the pot to let Rosie smell what was inside.
“Does it smell good?”
“Yeah, it smells so good!” Rosie could not take her eyes off the pot, and her hands were in the air as if she was about to put them into the pot the next second.
Summer quickly put the lid back on and carried Rosie down from the stool.
“Where’s Kate?” she asked Rosie as it suddenly occurred to her.
“Kate, hahaha…” It probably sounded funny to Rosie when Summer said that name, and she could not hold back her laughter.
Summer patted her on the head and walked out.
She had been too engrossed with Rosie earlier that she had almost forgotten about Leonardo.
Once she was out of the kitchen, she saw Leonardo sitting on the sofa. He was leaning forward slightly to reach for a glass on the coffee table and pour himself some water.
Summer had the habit of putting a pitcher and some glasses on the coffee table.
Leonardo took a sip of the water and put it back down, his brows knitted together.
Pouring oneself a glass of water was something very normal, but when Leonardo did such a normal thing, it made him look more down to earth.
“Kate!”
Rosie ran out from behind Summer and toward Leonardo.
She curiously picked up a glass from the tray on the coffee table, held it in front of Leonardo, and looked at him with her big round eyes. “I want to drink too.”
Leonardo glanced at her and pursed his lips as he took the pitcher in his hand.
The glass in Rosie’s hand tilted sideways, so Leonardo corrected her posture. “Hold the glass in an upright position.”
“Okay.” Rosie corrected her posture, but the glass was still a bit tilted.
Since Leonardo had accepted Rosie and her puerility, he did not correct her further.
He poured Rosie half a glass of water, then placed the pitcher back on the coffee table. “Drink it.”
Well, the glass was not half full, rather it was just a quarter full.
Rosie pouted, feeling dissatisfied. “It’s too little…”
Leonardo did not even blink as he looked at her. “Just drink it.”
Intimidated, Rosie carefully put the glass to her mouth.
While she drank, she did not forget to steal a glance at him.
When she discovered that Leonardo was observing during her secret glance, she hurriedly poured the entire glass of water down her throat.
After that, she raised the glass in front of Leonardo, looking for a compliment. “Daddy, I have finished drinking.”
“One more glass for you as a reward.” While he spoke, Leonardo reached for the pitcher.
Rosie was wide-eyed. She turned and ran away. “I’m not drinking anymore.”
Leonardo saw the little one leaving, so he pulled back his hand and looked over at Summer, who smiled at him after she had been watching them for a long time.
“Dinner will be ready soon.”
Leonardo returned a mysterious smile.
Summer had only been obsessed with Rosie since they arrived. She never even noticed his presence.
Summer could not work out what Leonardo’s mysterious smile was all about.
That aside, Rosie was there today, so she needed to get dinner ready first. Once it was ready, Rosie went into the kitchen to fetch her tableware. What surprised Summer was when Rosie did that, so did Leonardo.
The young master had not only helped himself to the water but also fetched his own bowl.
Summer felt guilty about it. She had totally pushed the version of Leonardo, who would do the dishes for her, to the back of her mind.
During dinner, Leonardo and Summer did not say a word. It was Rosie who had a lot to talk about.
The heavens opened up, and rain poured down right after they finished dinner.
The falling drops of rain hit the glass window and created a loud noise.
Rosie rested her chin on the window ledge and reached out to touch the water droplets that were rolling down the outer side of the glass window. She then looked over at Leonardo. “It’s raining.”
Leonardo did not respond.
“Kate, it’s raining!” Rosie did not give up. Instead, she raised her voice.
“I heard you.” There was less coldness but more helplessness in his voice.
Why did children have so many things to say?
Satisfied with Leonardo’s response, Rosie scurried into the kitchen.
He raised an eyebrow as he watched Rosie scamper away. Children had very strange thought processes; they could find joy in just about anything, no matter how small.
After Summer cleaned up in the kitchen, she came out and saw Leonardo standing by the window, looking out at the rain.
She studied the downpour outside and said, “It’s raining cats and dogs, plus it’s late. You two should just stay here tonight.”
She was not asking, and her tone was filled with natural concern.
Leonardo then turned to look back at her. She bit her lip, realizing that her words might have created a misunderstanding. “There’s an extra room here. I can share a room with Rosie, and you can sleep in my room.”
“There’s no need.” Leonardo looked away.
