When she heard the reporters call out her name, Summer’s heart skipped a beat. She brought Eliza out of the venue.
Yet, some reporters pursued her.
“Are you sure it’s Summer?”
“It should be!”
“Why is she here? Who’s the woman with her?”
Summer could not have cared less about what the reporters and paparazzi said. She just scuttled out of the place with Eliza in tow.
Unfortunately, there were tables and chairs all over the place. Getting out of the venue was not going to be very easy.
Summer had to move through the gaps carefully.
With those reporters and paparazzi blocking all the exits, Eliza and Summer could only run around inside the venue.
The atmosphere in the small area descended into chaos.
“Let’s split up,”Summer said to Eliza.
Sticking together at such a time was not the best idea. It would only slow them down.
Eliza immediately nodded with an”Mhm”.
After they split, Summer was able to move a lot quicker. She quickly arrived at the exit, but just as she was about to lunge out, a group of people came in her direction. The leading man was none other than Leonardo.
A large group of men was following him from behind while they were approaching her.
Why was he here?
Leonardo may have been the actual owner of Tip Top Entertainment, but he would seldom interfere in the company’s daily operation, let alone attend such an event.
Even if he attended any event, it would only be an event related to Emerson Group’s business.
Summer was stunned, and she involuntarily stopped in her tracks at the exit. As a result, the paparazzi and reporters caught up to her and surrounded her. Still with her mask on, she covered her eyes from the bright flashing lights.
“Are you Summer? Could you please take your mask off?”
“Please let us interview you…”
The reporters fought each other to shove their microphones up to Summer.
Summer was forced to retreat with her back against the wall.
All eyes were on Summer, and for a moment, no one had noticed that Leonardo was also there. Only when Leonardo and his men came nearer did they see him. All of the reporters went wild.
Leonardo and Summer had almost never appeared in the same place at the same time, especially after their divorce.
They could write pages of stories if they could snap a photograph of them together. One photograph could create all the attention and increase the click-through rate.
The reporters no longer surrounded Summer. Instead, they all raised their cameras to get Summer and Leonardo in the same picture.
Summer stood by the doorway with the wall behind her as the reporters stepped back and found their vantage point to take photographs.
For a moment, flashes and shutter sounds filled the air.
Summer looked in Leonardo’s direction, and their eyes met for a fleeting moment.
His eyes did not stop on her. It was as if he did not know who she was.
He shifted his gaze away from her and said something to the individuals beside him before he entered the event venue.
Security personnel quickly dispersed the reporters who were still taking photographs.
Summer turned back to look inside, and Leonardo was sitting in the last row. It seemed like he was really there for the movie’s release.
After that, she turned and walked out of the place. That was not the best time to be seen around Leonardo.
Once she was outside, she found a lounge where she could sit down and texted Leonardo.”What are you doing here?”
Leonardo did not reply. Luckily, Summer was used to a cold Leonardo, so she just called Eliza.
She and Eliza came together, hence it was only natural that she expected them to leave together. The two were separated earlier, and now, she had no idea where Eliza was.
It took only two calls for Eliza to pick up.
“Where are you, Summer?”Eliza was heard catching her breath.
“I’m in the lounge. Where are you? Do you want to come over?”Summer scanned her surroundings as she spoke.
“Why did you go to the lounge? It’s too far. I can’t get there.”
“In that case, I’ll leave by myself.”Since Eliza was not coming, Summer was thinking of leaving right then.
She fiddled with her mobile phone, her eyes on the screen.
Leonardo had not replied.
She sighed again. Just as she was about to get up and leave, she heard a familiar voice.
“You’ve been all over the place.”
Summer looked up and saw Vicky, who had just gotten up from a sofa not far away. She was now walking toward her.
She was wearing delicate makeup and was dressed to the nines, obviously attending some event in the area.
However, seeing Vicky there was not a surprising occurrence. It was a small world.
Sitting on a sofa, Summer quirked one of her brows.”So have you.”
Vicky sneered. Her voice was soft yet creepy as she sat down beside Summer.”I hear that Leonardo’s here too.”
“What do you want?”Summer looked over at her.
“What can I do?”
Vicky enjoyed seeing Summer becoming nervous. She sat with her legs cross, and her face darkened.”I know what Leonardo is capable of. Of course, I can’t do anything about him. I was just asking. I’m concerned about how you guys are doing.”
Summer frowned. Every word Vicky uttered made her stomach churn.
Summer looked up slightly.”What does my relationship with Leonardo have to do with you?”
“I just want to know if you two are happy together. I’d be glad to hear if you two aren’t. Otherwise, I’d feel sad about it.”
Vicky spoke absentmindedly as she raised her fingers to look at her freshly manicured nails.”But I saw you with the man by the name of Li. That means Leonardo has dumped you. I really pity you.”
Just as Summer was about to retaliate, she heard a series of footsteps closing in. Then, someone called out her name.
“Summer.”
The voice was steady and familiar.
Summer raised her gaze, and it was Leonardo walking toward her.
The group of men that had been following him was nowhere to be seen. He was alone, and his eyes were locked on Summer.
There seemed to be some kind of emotion in his black eyes, but it was difficult to identify.
His long legs quickly brought him before her. He studied her first, followed by Vicky.
Summer followed his eyes and looked over at Vicky.
She spotted it:Vicky shuddered when her eyes met Leonardo’s.
