Chapter 460 Shut Up from Now On

Book:CEO's Substitute Wife Published:2024-5-1

Summer looked at Leonardo as he ate.
He did not look at her but sensed her stare.
“Speak up if you have something to say,” he said all of a sudden.
“Have you gotten used to Rosie staying with you?” Summer put down her chopsticks.
Leonardo did not answer her question directly. “Will you take her back if I say I’m not used to it?”
Summer hesitated. “You’re really not used to it?”
“It’s much easier to get used to the little one than you,” Leonardo said matter-of-factly this time.
It gave the impression that there was an underlying meaning in his words. Luckily, Summer had long gotten used to his way of communication.
He seemed to mean that it was easier for him to get along with Rosie.
“You find it difficult to get along with me?” Summer asked.
In the past, she had thought of what Leonardo would look like as a father.
She predicted that a person as cold as Leonardo would surely not get along with kids.
It turned out that she was right; it was a bit difficult for him to get along with kids. Nevertheless, that did not prevent Rosie from liking him and wanting to get close to him.
“One minute you want to remarry me, the next you continue to have a relationship with your first love. It’s troublesome.”
While Leonardo spoke, he did not look at her. His words flowed naturally as if they had been brewing inside for a long time.
Summer knew he was done yet, so she quietly waited for him.
“The little one is different from you. She sits quietly by herself with a couple of candies and cartoons.” Only after he finished the second part did he look at her.
His brows were slightly knitted together as he looked at her with disgust.
Summer’s lips moved, patiently explaining to him, “Jerome and I have known each other since the early days. I used to like him, but—”
“Oh, so you admit it?” Leonardo sneered without waiting for her to finish.
“Can’t you wait for me to finish?!” When would he change his toxic interrupting habit?
Leonardo’s lips curled up, and he appeared uninterested. “It would spoil my appetite if I let you finish.”
“What do you mean?”
“You didn’t really invite me over for dinner. You just wanted to agitate me on purpose by letting me listen to stories about you and your first love.”
“When did I irritate you on purpose?”
“I don’t want to hear the name Jerome from you. Shut up about him from now on,” he sternly spelled out his words.
Summer dared not say a word again.
Leonardo resumed his meal after he was done talking.
His appetite was good. Just like in the past, he ate each and every dish in turns, repeating the cycle.
He ate meticulously as if he was at work.
Summer stared at him, thinking of what he said earlier: he did not want to hear her mention Jerome. Was he being jealous? She was not so sure, though.
She was too afraid to confirm it with Leonardo.
Even though he had amnesia, he remained hostile toward Jerome. It seemed that he really disliked Jerome in the past.
As Leonardo was about to finish his meal, he looked up and saw that Summer was still staring at him. She had not even started to eat.
“Will you get your fill by staring at me?” he asked slothfully.
She looked at him calmly. “You get angry just from the mention of him. If I don’t explain myself, you’ll only get angrier, won’t you?”
Leonardo scoffed at her, his voice reeking of disdain. “I don’t need you to tell me if I really want to know anything.”
She pressed her lips together as she nodded. Right, if Leonardo wanted to know something, he could find out anytime, more so when he had Tim, his highly capable assistant. Tim would get things done and seek whatever information he wanted.
Since he already knew about the status of her relationship with Jerome and was still so hostile toward Jerome, it meant that subconsciously, he still cared a lot about her.
Summer had expected the worst. If… If Leonardo could not recover from his amnesia, there was only one way forward, which was to make him love her again.
It might take time, but she was confident that one day, he would grow feelings for her again, would he not?
In the present, there were still no signs of Leonardo’s recovery or news about Li, the hypnotist. Summer had been feeling uneasy because of all of these things.
Seeing that Summer was silent, he thought that Summer was upset because of what he said. He swept his eyes over her and changed the subject. “Why did you send Rosie to my place?
“Don’t you like her?
“I’m starting to suspect that Tim’s been lying to me. Did I really fall in love with a woman with such a twisted mind?” Anger was brewing in his eyes.
“What do you mean by twisted? If you want to compliment a person for being smart, just compliment them!” Summer sounded unhappy as well.
Leonardo did not want to continue the conversation. Otherwise, she would definitely misdirect him.
So, he cut to the chase. “The traffic accident that happened to you and Stanley last month was an act of sabotage.”
While he spoke, he stared Summer in the eye, not giving her an opportunity to evade and lie to him.
Summer was taken aback for a moment before she nodded. “That may be true.”
She had never discussed the case with him. Perhaps Leonardo found out by himself.
He was smart and scrupulous. She had aroused his suspicion when she sent Rosie to stay with him and agreed not to take her back. It was only natural for him to check on her.
Summer’s social circle was only so large. It was easy to discover the strange things that had been happening to her.
Leonardo continued to look her in the eye. “A woman by the name of Vicky did that. She’s your half-sister, she has grudges against you, she was supposed to be my fiancée, and she loves Adams.”
He was still staring at Summer even after he was done.
There was no need for Summer to hide from him anymore since he had found it all out.
She nodded with an “Mhm.” “She loves Adams very much. She thinks that you and I are the ones who caused his death. So, she has been exacting revenge on us.”
Leonardo sneered, “Revenge? How? She wants to kill us?”
He paused, then continued, “Even Stanley couldn’t do anything. Vicky was caught red-handed, yet she still walked free on bail.”
