Chapter 435 Losing His Memory but Gaining EQ

Book:CEO's Substitute Wife Published:2024-5-1

Summer sat down on the couch and watched as Rosie walked in and out for a while. Only then did she realize that she had not seen Leonardo for several days.
Summer was a little depressed because things were not how they used to be.
Before this, when she and Leonardo did not stay together, he would get angry with her when she did not contact him.
Now, he did not even call to ask her how she was doing despite her busy schedule and inability to contact him.
As depressed as she was, in the end, she still took out her mobile phone and called Leonardo.
His phone rang, but no one answered. She tried again, and the same thing happened.
She began to worry; did Leonardo block her?

Emerson Group building.
Leonardo was in a meeting with the company top executives sitting around the conference table. As he looked at the documents in his hands, he knitted his brows tightly together. No one dared to make a sound.
Tim was standing behind him attentively.
Right then, the mobile phone beside Leonardo abruptly rang, and the crisp ringtone sounded especially loud in the quiet conference room.
Suddenly, all eyes were on Leonardo’s mobile phone.
Still standing behind Leonardo, Tim looked down and could see clearly the caller ID on the phone screen: “Thick-skinned woman”.
Within a second, Tim knew it was the nickname that Leonardo had given to Summer.
Thick-skinned…
Who was thick-skinned in the first place?
Leonardo did not answer immediately, instead, he just stared at the ringing phone—a stark contrast to the past when Leonardo would scramble to pick up the phone whenever Summer called. Instead of answering the phone, he waited until the phone stopped ringing.
Tim could not figure out what Leonardo was thinking.
If Leonardo did not have any feelings for Summer, he would not have given her a chance to call him. Yet, why did he not answer her call if he had feelings for her? Was he playing cat and mouse with her?
Tim was shocked by his own thoughts.
Leonardo had never devoted so much thought to Summer in the past. He would either take her by force or maintain a good distance from her. Had Leonardo lost his memory but gained some EQ?
The phone stopped ringing, and the screen turned off on its own. Following that, Leonardo retracted his eyes and shifted his attention to the documents in front of him.
However, his mobile phone soon rang again.
It was her again?
He wanted to see how determined the thick-skinned woman was, but before he could find out, he discovered that he wanted to pick up the phone.
Summer had not come to see him or contacted him for the past few days. Was that how a woman who wanted to restore their marriage would behave? If she really wanted that, should she not seize every moment and opportunity to please him? But she had just made him a bowl of noodles once, and he was the one who went to see her the following day. In addition, she said something ambiguous to him, then ignored him. What kind of woman was she?
Leonardo could not help but smirk when he thought of that.
Those sitting near Leonardo heard his creepy laughter and got goosebumps.
Their president’s temperament was becoming weirder by the day, and they were now afraid of attending meetings with him. Even if they attended, they were very cautious about what they said.
Leonardo gazed at the ringing phone for a few moments, then decided to pick it up.
Fine. Since Summer had made the first move by calling him, he would grant her wishes by answering her call.
By the time he reached for the phone, though, the ringing stopped. Summer had hung up.
Standing behind Leonardo, Tim saw his every reaction and knew that things were not all right.
Sure enough, Leonardo’s hand froze in midair and clenched into a fist before he pulled it back. Getting to his feet slowly, he grabbed the proposal in front of him and threw it across the table. “This is plain rubbish! Take it back and redo everything!”
After that, he left the room angrily.
Tim quickly picked up Leonardo’s mobile phone and chased after him.
Back in his office, Leonardo gulped down a glass of water on his desk, loosened his tie, then paced back and forth in front of the desk.
He seemed angry, or maybe anxious.
Tim stood by. Only when Leonardo stopped that Tim went up to him and passed him the mobile phone. “Young Master, here’s your phone.”
Leonardo looked at it for a few seconds and said, “Get rid of it.”
Tim was dumbfounded.
Since it was an order, he had no choice but to throw the mobile phone into the bin beside the desk. He then looked at Leonardo. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll leave now.”
Leonardo waved, motioning Tim to leave him.
Once Tim was gone, he took off his tie and sat down behind his desk. Just then, his mobile phone, which was now in the bin, rang again.
Was Summer calling one more time?
He pondered for a moment with furrowed brows before he bent forward to retrieve his mobile phone from the bin.
The caller ID on the phone screen was not “Thick-skinned Woman”, and his face darkened. “Carl, you better have something important to tell me. Otherwise…”
He sneered without finishing his sentence, which made him sound even scarier.
Carl started to wonder if he had done something wrong. Leonardo had been very erratic recently. One minute Leonardo would agree to let him eat and drink in his house, the next minute he would change his demeanor.
Carl was a little relieved when that crossed his mind.
He got straight down to business. “Summer’s moved to a new home, and she’s invited us for dinner. Do you want to join?”
Summer had just called him, saying that Leonardo did not pick up her call and asking him to call Leonardo. Little did he expect that Leonardo would take his call.
In a nutshell, he was looking for trouble.
Summer… Why did Carl address Summer in such a friendly way?
“How close are you to Summer?” Leonardo asked, his voice cold.
Carl could sense the unhappiness in his voice, and his survival instincts kicked in. “Not close at all. My wife is closer to her.”
“When did you get married?” Leonardo cocked an eyebrow.
Leonardo was adding salt to his injury on purpose, Carl thought.
It was hard to tell if there was anything wrong between him and Jessica, but somehow, it felt like something was standing between them.
Carl pressed his hand against his chest. “Married? No, I just said that for fun.”
Leonardo continued to add salt to his injury. “What’s so good about marriage? Summer has been pursuing me incessantly, wanting to restore our marriage.”
