Chapter 424 Overwhelmed

Summer paused as too many images suddenly gushed out in her mind.
“Why did Stanley save me?”
“Rosie… Leonardo…”
Jessica did not interrupt her and only looked on anxiously beside her.
At that moment, the nurse brought the doctor over.
The doctor hurried over and asked, “You’re awake? How do you feel?”
Summer’s mind was obviously not here, and she did not respond to the doctor.
Jessica asked, “She just woke up… What’s the matter with my friend?”
She had rushed over after receiving a call without any idea what had happened. The call only mentioned that Summer was in the hospital, and she was anxious all the way when she drove there.
The doctor said. “She was just unconscious when she was sent here, but there isn’t much of a problem, just a slight concussion.”
“A concussion isn’t a big deal?” Jessica was not impressed, and her tone was rather cold.
The doctor pushed his glasses, as he paused for a moment before saying. “This sort of mild concussion is common, she can be discharged after a few days of observation.”
Hearing the doctor said that, Jessica smiled embarrassedly. “Ah, so that’s the case. Thank you. But she’s had a brain injury before, would that be a problem?”
“That’s why she needs to be hospitalized for a few days for observation,” the doctor said as he turned his attention to Summer and gently called out her name, “Summer?”
“Huh?” Summer regained her senses.
The doctor then asked her, “How are you feeling now? Do you feel uncomfortable in any way?”
Summer shook her head, seemingly absent-minded. “No.”
Her gaze fell onto Jessica’s body as she stared at her for a couple of seconds before asking, “Where’s Rosie?”
Jessica only remembered that Rosie was still asleep at home when she was asked that.
She had rushed over the moment she received a call that Summer was in the hospital.
Summer was only discharged for barely two months, and Jessica was slightly overreacting when she heard that the former was in the hospital again. Plus she had been living alone, and naturally forgot that there was a little one sleeping in her house.
“She’s… asleep at home,” Jessica said gingerly.
When Summer heard that, she immediately lifted the quilt wanting to get out of bed, as she anxiously said, “In that case, let’s go back now.”
“Wait up, the doctor said that you need to be hospitalized for observation.” Jessica quickly stopped her.
Summer pushed her away. “I’m fine.”
It was her own body, and she could feel that her body was in tip-top shape, and there were no problems at all.
At that moment, two plainclothes police officers walked in from outside.
When the two police officers got in, one of them looked at Summer. “Summer, you’re awake?”
Summer looked over, and the police officers took out their police identification card. “We need your cooperation with the explosion in the mall earlier.”
Summer nodded cooperatively. “Okay.”
The police then turned to the doctor. “How is she?”
The doctor matter-of-factly briefed the police officers on Summer’s condition.
Jessica reacted in a delayed fashion and exclaimed in shock, “What explosion?”
“The criminal had called the police himself and said that he was going to blow up the mall. Ms. Jarrett had entered the mall as we were evacuating the crowd. This is my fault, but thankfully, the criminal’s explosives were poorly made, and they weren’t that destructive…”
Jessica’s expression turned pale. “What the hell…”
Summer turned and smiled at Jessica. “I’m fine.”
She then turned to the police and said, “Officer, I would appreciate it if you could hurry up. My child is alone at home, and I’m worried.”
The police seemed to be a little surprised. “You’re married?”
As he said that, he seemed to have noticed the question was quite out of place, and a trace of embarrassment flashed past his eyes, but soon he went straight to business.
The police officers left after taking her statement.
Summer was worried that Rosie was alone at home, and naturally would not want to be hospitalized.
Despite that, the doctor insisted on her staying for further observation. So, Summer came up with an excuse that she would come for a check-up a few days later and left the hospital.
On the way back, Jessica finally had the opportunity to ask Summer, “Summer, you mentioned looking for Adams on the island… Have you remembered everything?”
Jessica had asked her that question earlier, but Summer was seemingly at a loss and did not reply to her.
Summer first nodded, but before Jessica could open her mouth, she shook her head again.
“This nodding and shaking, have you actually regained your memories? I almost just choked from anticipation there.” Jessica sighed.
“I remembered everything from the past…” Summer said as she frowned, “I’m not sure what happened after that. Was I really in a coma for three years? And Leonardo… lost his memories as well?”
“Yes, all of it is true!” Jessica shouted excitedly. “You really remember! Oh my god!”
After Jessica’s initial glee, she then gingerly asked Summer. “Say, how did we first meet? And how did you get married to Leonardo?”
“You were bullied back in the third year of high school, and I scared those bullies away.”
As Summer said that, and seeing Jessica nodded, only did she continue, “As for Leonardo, I married him in place of Vicky.”
After mentioning Vicky, Summer’s expression darkened.
“What’s wrong?” Jessica asked.
Summer had recalled the time when she and Stanley had a car accident, and her expression turned grim. “She pinned Adams’s death on both me and Leonardo. She wants to kill us.”
As Jessica heard that, her expression also slightly changed.
“Vicky went crazy a long time ago. These past few years, she’s been making random films and series with a lot more dirt around her. Yet, she still has quite a number of fans. Her character is rather bizarre, and I suspect she might have been driven off the edge by Adams’s death. She might be capable of anything, so you better be careful.”
Summer nodded. “Yeah.”
Even if Jessica did not spell it out, Summer also knew she had to be careful.
After all, Vicky had already struck once, and when she did, it was done with the determination to kill her.
The only reason she escaped unscathed from that accident was down to pure luck.
Vicky would not give up just like that, and there was no guarantee she would be that lucky again.
What surprised her was there was conclusive evidence to pin the case on Vicky, yet someone fished her out of jail…
On top of that, this incident was far worse than that time when she wanted to ram Summer with her car.
Back then, Adams could have easily bailed Vicky out.
For someone to bail her out this time around, who would that be?
Who had such great power and reason to bail Vicky out of this?
Summer had been in a coma for three years only to wake up without her memories, and now her memories suddenly returned to her. It was as if time itself was playing a prank on her, and three years had passed just like that.
Everything that had happened thus far overwhelmed her somewhat, and she was unable to recover for a good while.
