In an instant, the temperature in the office plummeted by several degrees.
Leonardo raised his eyes and stared coldly at Kate as he rumbled, “Get out!”
A wave of sinister, gloomy anger appeared in his dark eyes.
Kate had never seen Leonardo like this, and she was so scared she took a couple of steps backward and forgot how to speak.
Leonardo sneered. He then stood up suddenly as he walked toward Kate and violently held his hand out and grabbed onto Kate’s neck.
Leonardo’s movements were so sudden that even Tim unwittingly shouted, “Young Master!”
He saw that the strength exerted on Kate’s neck was considerable as Kate’s entire face had already turned slightly blue.
She grabbed Leonardo’s arm as she tried to pry his hand away, yet Leonardo’s hand seemed to be welded to her neck, and no matter how hard she hit or scratched him, he did not budge.
She struggled to squeeze out a couple of words from her mouth. “Let… me… go…”
“When you were young, didn’t you take me for a devil? Yet, you dared to lie to me again and again. Do you know what will come to you now that you’ve angered the devil?”
Leonardo stared at Kate with a frigid look. There was no trace of warmth in his eyes.
Tim had never seen Leonardo act so menacing, and if things went on, Leonardo might very well choke Kate to death.
“Young Master, please let go, you are going to choke Ms. Emerson!” Tim knew that Leonardo had a strange temperament and dared not touch him right then. He only persuaded him from the side.
Tim also dared not all the security up, as this thing could not be known by anyone else.
Seeing that Kate was on the verge of passing out, Tim suddenly thought of something as he gave Summer a call.
Thankfully, the call connected quickly.
Summer’s voice rang out on the other side of the phone. “Hello?”
“Ms. Jarrett. Tim here. Please talk a few words with the young master.”
“A few words? What happened?”
“Anything will do.”
As Tim said that, he placed the phone beside Leonardo’s ear. “Young Master, a call from Ms. Jarrett.”
Leonardo ignored Tim, and his eyes were bloodshot with killing intent.
He really wanted to choke Kate to death.
Leonardo had never been a good person, and his hands were not clean either.
Tim panicked and said, “It’s a call from Summer. She has something urgent, can you answer the phone?”
Seemingly having his senses triggered by Summer’s name, Leonardo finally regained his senses, as he turned to Tim and asked coldly, “Summer?”
Tim nodded. “Yes, Summer.”
Tim turned on the hands-free, and on the other end of the call, Summer heard his conversation with Leonardo.
Even through the phone, Summer could tell that something was not right with Leonardo.
So, she called out probingly, “Leonardo?”
Hearing her voice, Leonardo was startled for a moment. As he held his hand out to grab the phone, he naturally released Kate.
Without any support, Kate immediately fell into the ground.
Tim quickly helped Kate to the sofa and laid her down there. He however had no time to take care of Kate as all of his attention was focused on Leonardo.
Leonardo stood in place and spoke through the phone. “Summer.”
His tone sounded like the usual, but something seemed off.
Summer recalled the conversation Leonardo had with Tim earlier and asked, “Leonardo, what were you doing just now?”
What was he doing?
Leonardo looked at his hand and turned to look at Kate who was in a semi-conscious state on the sofa. He frowned as his mind cleared.
He asked in return, “I was dealing with some documents earlier, why are you looking for me?”
“I…” Tim called her; she personally had no business with Leonardo.
Now that things had come to pass, she could only come up with an excuse. “I wanted to ask you, are you coming back for lunch?”
Leonardo demurred for a moment and asked, “Do you want me to come back for lunch?”
Summer did not directly answer his question. “Are you coming back then?”
“Depends.”
“Oh.”
“I’ll hang up if there’s nothing else.”
“Okay.”
However, Summer waited for a while and noticed that Leonardo was not hanging up.
“Didn’t you say you were hanging up?” she asked.
Leonardo just coldly responded, “You first.”
Summer could only hang up, finding Leonardo very strange today.
Leonardo held the phone in front of him and made sure the call had been disconnected before he returned it to Tim.
Tim heaved a sigh of relief. It was still Summer who managed to get a grip of Leonardo during that critical moment.
At that moment, Leonardo had the mind to see Kate.
She was lying on the sofa and had somewhat recovered her senses, yet she was still in pain.
When she saw Leonardo approach her, a terrified look appeared on her face as she stepped back, murmuring. “Don’t come near me… Don’t you come…”
Leonardo walked to the sofa and domineeringly loomed over her. “Explain everything in a single go.”
“I’ll… I’ll tell you everything…” Kate was scared out of her wits, and no longer had the proud image of the young lady of the Emerson family.
“I lied to you. Amber isn’t Rosie’s biological mother…”
“Carl is actually your best friend, Tim is your most trusted subordinate, Summer is the woman you love most…”
“I’m the one who sent you to America and found an expert hypnotist to lock all of your past memories… This is all my fault, I know I’m in the wrong. Leonardo, please forgive me. I beg you, I beg you.”
Kate fell onto the sofa and sat on it in a very sorry state as she tugged on Leonardo’s pants and begged him.
She had been spoiled since birth, and everything she got was the best.
The only people around had been bodyguards and servants since she was little, and she was even glad that she was not captured by the kidnappers when she was still a child.
Everything was going swimmingly for her, except for this little brother who never listened to her, and was at odds with her.
Back then, she only thought that she was in the right, and she ignored Leonardo’s nature.
He was really a devil. Ever since he was kidnapped and returned, he was unlike any normal child, so she never liked him from a young age.
Yet, he had the superior ability, and she relied on him to maintain the Emerson Family’s wealth and prestige.
Nonetheless, it never crossed her mind that Leonardo would actually want to kill her.
She had almost… died in Leonardo’s hands.
Ten years had passed, and the devil within his heart had grown as well.
Kate now understood that she would never be able to control Leonardo.
As Leonardo heard what she said, another storm gathered in his eyes.
Before Leonardo’s temper exploded again, Tim who was by the side, quickly asked, “Which hypnotist?”
