The day that Vicky got out was also the day Stanley was discharged from hospital.
Summer accompanied Stanley to get the drip-feed detached and completed the discharge procedures. As they were cleaning up the ward, they saw Vicky.
Vicky was still in her usual thick make-up, and as it was early autumn, she wore a thin black slim dress and sat on the sofa with one of her legs crossed.
The moment she saw Summer walked in, she stood up nonchalantly. “About to leave the hospital? Not even giving a chance to apologize? Really taking me for an outsider.”
As she said that, she held her hand out, and made an eye-gesture to her manager behind her.
The manager immediately brought the fruit basket over and placed the handle in Vicky’s hand.
Vicky brought the fruit basket before Summer. “Take it, an apology to both of you.”
Her tone was blase and without any sincerity.
This was no apology, rather it was meant to spite Summer.
Summer’s expression turned slightly chilly and asked, “How did you get out?”
“Of course they were the ones that let me out.” Vicky took two steps forward and tossed the fruit basket onto the ground, as she leaned forward to the side of Summer’s ear, her hissing voice was clear as day. “Don’t think about living peacefully while I’m still alive!”
Summer bit her lip and raised her chin slightly without any hint of giving in. “Then come at me!”
“Hmph!” Vicky snorted. “Oh, don’t you worry, this is just the entrée.”
As she said that, she straightened up with a smile on her face. “See you next time.”
That whimsical voice had no hatred within it, and in fact, it had a touch of intimacy to it.
Vicky looked at Summer’s slightly changing expression with satisfaction and swaggered out with her manager and bodyguard in tow.
Summer closed her eyes and took a deep breath, and just as she was about to leave, Stanley had already come out without her noticing.
He happened to push the door in.
Stanley was also a careful person with an eye for detail, and the moment he came in, he saw the fruit basket on the ground.
Seeing Summer’s expression, he could not help but ask. “What’s the matter? Who came here earlier?”
“Vicky.” Summer bit her lips. “I did not expect her to be released so quickly.”
Stanley frowned as he heard that. “How could that happen? Isn’t she an artist? She has such a powerful backer behind her?”
“Jessica said that she’s my half-sister, and my relationship with her is poor. I had checked on Jarrett Group, and it’s not a big company, I don’t think it’s my family that helped her.”
Summer only knew these much, and she might need to look for Jessica to better understand the situation when she had time.
After pondering for a moment, she looked up at Stanley and said. “Forget about that, let’s go back first.”
…
As Stanley’s car was damaged, the two hailed a cab after leaving the hospital.
However, the taxi did not get too far before it was stopped by several black cars.
A few bodyguards came down from the car and walked over as they opened the taxi door.
Seeing this, the driver said in a panic, “Who are you, people? What are you doing? I will call the police…”
The bodyguards outright ignored the driver and pulled him out of the taxi.
Seeing how rough and violent they were, the taxi driver dared not speak anymore and ran away as soon as he got pulled out of the car.
The bodyguard then opened the rear door of the taxi and said impassively at Summer, “Ms. Jarrett, please come with us.”
Summer glanced at Stanley, and her gaze stayed on his pale face for two seconds before turning to the bodyguard and said, “I can go with you, but you have to tell me who sent you?”
Stanley had already suffered because of her, and for him to encounter another incident like this when his wounds had yet to heal, she could not trouble him anymore.
As Stanley heard her and wanted to speak, Summer pressed his arm without a word.
These people must have not been sent by Vicky, because Vicky had only just met her.
They were also not sent by Leonardo, because if Leonardo was to look for her, he would get Tim to call her or get Tim to look for her with his men.
Summer had no idea who else would want to look for her aside from the two.
She needed to regain her memory, she was too passive now.
She was too passive now that it was hard for her to do anything at all.
“You will find out once you get there.” After the bodyguard was done talking, he forcibly reached out to pull Summer out of the car.
Stanley naturally could now allow them to take her away like that.
At that critical moment, several cars stopped in a hurry by the roadside.
Summer looked out of the car window and saw the leading person to be Tim.
Summer immediately called out, “Special Assistant Tim!”
Tim rushed over with his men and quickly subdued the men that wanted to take Summer away.
Tim walked to the taxi and said respectfully, “Ms. Jarrett, there is something that needs you to come with us.”
“All right.” Summer did not dally and instead agreed immediately.
Stanley on the side spoke as well. “I will go with you.”
Summer heard that and looked at Tim.
Tim did not say much and nodded in assent.
Stanley’s identity was a mystery, and his origins were unknown.
However, he had saved Summer after all. Now that he was with Summer, letting him know her identity would not hurt.
…
Summer and Stanley were brought to the Emerson family’s residence by Tim.
Standing before the gate of the manor, Summer felt a sense of familiarity.
Summer turned and asked Tim. “I’ve been here before?”
“Ms. Jarrett, you and the young master were husband and wife, you would have of course been here.” Tim started walking as he said that.
Inside the hall, Leonardo and Kate sat facing each other in a tense atmosphere.
Rosie was sitting by the sofa playing with a tiger puppet in one hand while holding onto a robot with another as she mumbled something.
Tim brought the two in and walked straight to Leonardo. “Young Master.”
Leonardo looked up and glanced at Stanley before shifting his gaze to Summer.
Summer only knew Leonardo and had no impression of Kate, so she only gave her a quick glance.
Kate was, however, not that calm.
She had thought Summer had really died three years ago and did not believe it when she heard news of Summer being alive a few days ago.
She even felt that Leonardo getting someone to match Summer and Rosie’s DNA was based on the DNA extracted from the DNA bank.
On the other hand, she had sent someone to check on Summer with the hopes she would be lucky.
But if Summer was really still alive, then it would be over for her.
However, her people were still a step too slow.
Kate looked at Summer with a pale face as shock and panic engulfed her heart, her gaze was locked tightly on Summer. “Summer, to think you’re actually still alive!”
This was not the first time Summer heard this sentence.
Everyone seemed to be surprised that she was still alive.
