Leonardo took the food, checked the delivery note, and found a kid set menu on it.
Seeing that Leonardo had accepted the delivery, the food delivery guy said, “Enjoy!” and left, probably rushing to deliver food to his next customer.
Leonardo did not immediately close the door but looked over at the tightly shut door of the opposite apartment unit. Apart from the woman by the name of Summer, who would have cared to order food delivery for him and Rosie. She was a thoughtful and soft-hearted woman. A smile suddenly appeared on his face.
He and Rosie had had dinner long ago, so he was thinking of bin the food. While he was thinking so, the smiling face of that woman suddenly crossed his mind. He pulled back his hand, turned around, and put the food into the refrigerator. Before hitting the sack, he checked Rosie out, only then he returned to his bedroom.
…
“Leonardo, you’re back!”
A warm female filled with joy was heard saying. Leonardo looked up and found himself standing in the courtyard of a mansion. Surrounding the mansion was a lush green forest. By the looks of things, the mansion was built on the hillside.
The woman who called out to him just now spoke again. “What are you looking at? Come in to have dinner.”
He looked ahead and saw a slender woman coming toward him. Wearing a white shirt, the woman’s steps were brisk, and she looked young. As she came closer, Leonardo finally made out her face.
“Summer?” He mumbled to himself.
“I have made a vegetarian dish and stewed beef. Since you are busy recently, I have made it less spicy so you can have a lighter meal…” Summer came over and held his arm, looking at him as she smiled. They were very intimate.
The scene changed all of a sudden. He was no longer in the courtyard, and Summer was gone. He looked around and found himself in a bedroom. At the same time, there was the pitter-patter of water coming from the bathroom. But soon the sound stopped. A minute or so later, Summer wrapped herself in a towel and came out of the bathroom, her face flushing from the hot shower, the almost translucent skin of her exposed shoulders and arms pink. She was so alluring, and Leonardo could not help but swallow hard.
As if she had noticed his stare, Summer blocked her hands in front of her body. “I forgot my sleeping gown…”
Leonardo could not help but walk toward her. “That won’t be necessary. After all, you will be naked afterward.”
He carried Summer up and threw her on the bed as if his body had its own mind. Summer felt embarrassed but did not stop him. He stripped her towel and went on top of her. Her long hair spread on the pillow, her skin soft and white, eyes glimmering as she called out his name in a low voice.
“Leonardo… be gentle…”
“I can’t stop myself from…”
“Leonardo!”
Leonardo opened his eyes abruptly upon hearing that and saw Rosie was over him, looking at him.
“You are awake now? I’m starving.” While speaking, her stomach growled.
Leonardo grabbed her by the collar and lifted her to one side, then sat up on the bed. It was just a dream. But it felt so real, natural, and intimate. The last time he sent Summer back, he already knew he was interested in her. And this dream had made him realize that he was aroused by Summer. This had never happened before.
“Daddy!”
Leonardo felt someone was pulling the blanket from him. He looked down. There it was. Rosie was pulling his blanket. He was stunned. Quickly pulling back the blanket, he put Rosie down on the floor and told her solemnly. “Now, turn around and wait for me outside.”
“Okay.”
As soon as she walked out, Leonardo put the lock on and went into the bathroom. With one hand on the wall, he reached to stroke his manhood with the other, his breathing became heavy.
“Summer…”
He softly called out her name as her face appeared before his mind’s eye and his body became even more aroused.
…
By the time Leonardo had sorted himself out and come out of the bathroom, half an hour had passed.
Rosie was sitting outside his bedroom, playing with her toy, her hair a mess. Leonardo cleaned her up and changed her into another set of clothes. A little problem came when he was about to comb her hair.
He stared at Rosie’s soft hair for a few seconds, then said matter-of-factly, “Long straight hair is nice.”
“I like it braided,” Rosie said excitedly.
“Braided hair doesn’t look good on you,” he retorted, face impassive.
Rosie turned to look at him, twisting her fingers with a knowing look. “You don’t know how to braid hair!”
Leonardo could not find a word to respond.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
“Let me answer the door.” He got up and opened the door.
It was Tim, who brought them breakfast.
“Uncle Tim!” Rosie’s eyes brightened up, running up to Tim to hug him when she saw the breakfast.
“Good morning, Rosie.” Tim let out a smile.
After he set the table for them, Leonardo suddenly said, “Do further background checks on Summer.”
Rosie had an impression on the name. She looked up and uttered, “What?”
Leonardo did not respond. He let her sip on the milk. Diverting a child’s attention was easy.
…
Since staying out here with Rosie, Leonardo had not hired any maids. So when he went to work, he had to bring Rosie along. Today, as he headed out in the morning, he bumped into Summer, who had just come back from the market.
“Aunt Jarrett.” Rosie was excited at seeing her.
“Good morning, Rosie.”
Summer smiled at her, and when she turned her eyes to Leonardo, she spotted him staring at her unblinkingly.
Startled for a second, she then nodded at him. “Good morning, Mr. Emerson.”
“Mhm.” He gave a distant response and then brought Rosie into the elevator.
After they left, Summer shook her head. Leonardo was a tough nut to crack, she thought. She had bought them food last night, and she supposed that Leonardo had let Rosie have it. She felt she seemed to be concerned about this father and daughter. Although she liked Rosie very much…
Probably she should not have thought too much.
Once at home, Summer got a call from Jessica.
“Summer, I have something very important to tell you.” She sounded serious.
“When, and where?” After the last incident at the mall, Summer had learned her lesson. After she was discharged from the hospital, she seldom watched movies and drama series. So she had no idea that Jessica was an artist.
“I will pick you up,” Jessica said. After hanging up, she drove straight to Summer’s apartment. She had thought it over for the entire night and decided that she should tell Summer about her past. Summer had every right to know she had a daughter. She did not know what Stanley was up to, but her gut feeling told her that there was something more to this man than met the eye.
