A couple of light knocks on the door broke Kate’s train of thought.
“Come in.” Her expression disappeared from her face as a bodyguard entered.
“Everything’s ready, Ms. Emerson,” the bodyguard said respectfully.
“We won’t wait until tonight. We’ll depart now.”
Kate gave her orders, and the medical staff came to remove Leonardo. While wheeling him onto the plane, they were surprised to find that Leonardo was starting to show signs of waking up.
“Ms. Emerson, the young master should come out of his coma very soon,” the doctor told Kate excitedly. However, he did not see the same excitement on her face.
“I know.” Her reply was lukewarm. She chased all of the other medical personnel out, leaving only one with her. “He’s showing signs of coming out of his coma. Give him a higher dose. He must not wake before we arrive in M Country.”
Truth be told, Leonardo’s injuries were not as severe as they seemed.
He could have woken up a week ago, but Kate had instructed men to drug him so he could stay in a coma. She had taken everything Carl said to her and felt the fear.
She feared that once Leonardo woke up and found out that she did not send men to search for Summer, he would hate her for sure despite what she said earlier. She would not let that happen.
Kate had contacted the world’s top hypnotherapist. Her lips curled up in a smile, and there was a sense of determination in her eyes.

The plane landed at a privately operated airport in M Country.
The hypnotherapist had sent men to receive them at the airport, and a man with a stony face came up to Kate. “Are you Ms. Emerson?”
“Yes, I am.”
After verifying her identity, the men brought Leonardo and Kate away from the airport.
Kate did not completely trust the hypnotherapist. “All of you are men sent by that expert?”
The man behind the wheel expressionlessly said, “You don’t trust our boss, Ms. Emerson? But you have to. Here we are, Ms. Emerson. Let’s get off.”
Kate gritted her teeth and followed them out of the car.
Before her eyes was a dark and round mansion with a weird design. She hesitated. The mansion and the two men sent by the hypnotherapist were too strange.
“Ms. Emerson, please.” A man hurried her from behind.
Kate did not bring any of her men because she wanted to keep the number of people in the know to the minimum. No matter what, she had to give it a shot.
She followed them into the house, went through a long corridor, and arrived at a large, brightly lit room. A massive bookshelf covered one side of the walls, and in front of it was a dark wooden desk with a tall man sitting behind it. The man was wearing eyeglasses, a mask, and a plain black business suit, looking as dull as one could get.
“They’re here, Mr. Bates.” One of the men who brought Kate there went up to the man in the black suit.
The man in the black suit nodded his head slightly. Getting to his feet and going up to Kate, the man held out his hand. “Nice to meet you, Ms. Emerson.” He spoke in Chinese.
“You’re Mr. Bates?” Kate held out hers.
“We can begin now,” the man said with a smile.
“Do you wear a mask all the time, Mr. Bates?” She was cautious because the hypnotherapist looked too young.
“Bring Ms. Emerson out for some tea.” Following the man’s instruction, his men brought Kate out of the room. The door was closed, and the man’s eyes landed on Leonardo. He took off his eyeglasses with a hint of excitement in his eyes. “Interesting,” he mumbled.

“Recently, paparazzi have snapped photographs of Leonardo, the President of Emerson Corporation during his outing. He looks close with a little girl in the photos. She’s probably his daughter who’s born out of wedlock…”
The TV was airing entertainment news inside a VIP ward. The nurses attending to the patient heard the news and started their discussion.
“Is it real? Leonardo has a daughter born out of wedlock?”
“Wasn’t his fiancée exposed in the past? Could it be that she’s the little girl’s mother?”
A nurse pointed at the female patient lying on the bed. “Be careful. Don’t poke it in too deep.”
The other nurse shrugged. “She won’t feel it one bit. She’s been in a vegetative state for three years. I’m afraid she isn’t going to wake up again.”
“Don’t say that… Let me do it.”
Just as the nurse was about to insert a needle into the back of the patient’s hand, she felt a slight jerk from the patient’s wrist, which was full of bruises from needle insertions.
“Did my eyes just play tricks on me?”
“What is it?” the other nurse asked.
Just then, a weak voice came from the female patient on the bed. “You two are…”
“You’re awake!” The two nurses looked down at the female patient.
Summer blinked. After three years in a coma, she had difficulty speaking for a moment. Before she spoke again, the two nurses ran out.
“I’ll call Mr. Bates!”
“I’ll call the doctor!”

As soon as Stanley emerged from the elevator, nurses ran up to him in excitement. “Mr. Bates, your fiancée’s awake now!”
Three years ago, a female patient was brought to the hospital, and she had been in a coma all that time. This man called Stanley came to visit the woman every day without fail. He had never given up on her. Stanley had told no one about his relationship with the female patient, but the nurses and doctors assumed that he was the patient’s fiancé.
“Really?” A smile spread across his face, but Stanley did not sound surprised.
The nurses were baffled. Should he not be overjoyed?
“I’ll go and see her.” Stanley ignored the nurses’ baffled looks and walked straight toward the ward. A few doctors had gathered around the bed to check on Summer. Stanley went over and looked at the skinny women in bed. “You’re awake now, Summer!”
Summer looked up at Stanley, her beautiful cat’s eyes dull, and her voice hoarse. “Are you talking to me?”
When Stanley heard that, his expression finally showed some subtle changes. His eyes brightened up, and he pointed at himself. “Do you recognize me? Who am I?”
“Who are you?” Summer shook her head.
“I’m your fiancé.” Stanley narrowed his eyes in a smile.
She stared at him for a few seconds, feeling confused. “Really?”
