Stanley smiled, and still had that harmless look on his face as he opened her WeChat in front of her.
Summer saw that he really had opened her WeChat, and her expression changed slightly.
Stanley opened her friend circle and started to type a message, and he uploaded the selfie he had just taken and written a rather disgusting text. “Stanley’s body is great!”
Summer was speechless.
This mysterious person could be an idiot.
“Not saying a word? No comments? Then I’ll upload it.” Seeing that she did not speak, Stanley’s smile grew even brighter.
Summer immediately stopped him. “Wait!”
“Oh? Not letting me upload it?” Stanley’s finger was still on the “Send” button, but he had not actually sent it out to her friend circle.
“What are you trying to accomplish actually? If you have proper business, can we talk about it seriously?” While she was frequently trending and was partially considered an Internet celebrity, if one were to not pay any attention to her, you would not know much about her.
And this Stanley knew her name and her relationship with Leonardo, plus he had broken into her house, which meant that he had a motive to do so.
“All right. Come, we’ll sit and talk.” Stanley put away the phone and placed it on his back, with a very serious expression.
Summer stood unmoving by the door. “Put on your clothes first.”
Her door was under surveillance, and even he would not dare do anything rash.
Stanley nodded as he heard what she said. “Okay.”
Then, he whistled as he walked into Summer’s bedroom, and she could only clench her teeth as she watched on.
Having a total stranger entering her bedroom was even more disgusting than to have a worm pop out of a half-eaten apple.
No matter what, after today she must move out!
Barely two minutes later, Stanley came out of her room.
He wore a black-white short sleeve shirt, and trousers, and looked like a homely person. With his scarred body covered up, his face actually looked a little bright and sunny.
Stanley sat down on the sofa. “What are you standing at the doorway for? Come and talk.”
“I’ll be standing here, I like the doorway.” Summer did not close the door, and simply just stood there with an expression indicating she would never, ever move from that spot.
Stanley seemed to be dumbfounded for a moment before he leaned back with his arms spread wide up, as he rested them on the back of the sofa.
He looked around the room as if looking for something. “Where’s your child? Did Leonardo take the child away after your divorce?”
When Summer heard him mention her child, her expression suddenly changed. “Who the hell are you?”
Only people around her knew about Rosie, and no one else.
“Your sense of caution is very strong, are you afraid of me?” Stanley laughed as he curled his lips and stared at her, seemingly having ill-intentions.
“You are not rich, and you’re a divorced woman to boot, what would I desire from you?” Stanley looked at her up and down. “Oh, you’re quite the looker, you want me to rape then murder you?”
These few words sounded extremely creepy, but Summer strangely felt that he would not do such things.
Summer did not answer him and just stared at him.
Stanley wore a rather sorry expression. “But I won’t do such things to a woman, sorry to disappoint you.”
Summer laughed in anger. “Where did you come from?”
She seriously suspected that this person had escaped from the psychiatric hospital.
As Stanley heard that, he adjusted his expression, and spat out a word. “Australia.”
Australia?
Back then, after Summer set fire to Leonardo’s villa, she escaped to Australia with Jerome’s help, and that was the only time she had ever been to Australia.
Stanley had even asked her earlier, “You don’t recognize me anymore?”
She carefully measured Stanley, and she was not sure whether it was psychological reasons or not, she really felt that Stanley looked a little familiar.
Before she could recall if the two actually knew each other, she heard a series of footsteps behind her.
A woman’s voice rang out. “Officer, this is the place.”
Summer turned around and saw an old lady walking over with the police.
The old lady saw Summer and said comfortingly, “Miss, are you okay?”
Summer recognized the old lady, and she lived diagonally across the street, and she would greet her at times when she saw her while going out.
The old lady lived alone and did not really browse the internet, so naturally, she did not know about Summer, and just saw Summer as a seemingly lonely person like her and was very kind to the latter.
Summer called out to her. “Auntie.”
The old lady approached her and the moment she leaned in and saw Stanley sitting on the sofa, she quickly pulled Summer out. “Are you all right? I saw someone opening the door and entering earlier, and did not take notice, I saw your car was not there when I went for a stroll, and when I came back I saw you entering your place. As it was too late to tell you that a thief had entered your place, I called the police…”
Summer shook her head and was deeply moved. “I’m fine, thank you.”
“That man…” The old lady pointed into the room.
Summer turned her head, and Stanley looked at her with a half-smile.
Summer curled her lips. “I don’t know him.”
…
In the end, Stanley was taken away by the police.
But in order to have her statement taken, Summer followed along.
“Name?”
“Stanley.”
“Occupation.”
“A Professor of Criminal Psychology. I just returned from Australia and have yet to start work.”
The police officer stopped writing as he heard that.
As Stanley was brought to the police station under the charge of illegal intrusion into someone else ‘s residence, so both Stanley and Summer were having their statements taken.
Summer too was stunned as she heard that.
She turned around to look at Stanley and he seemed to have noticed her gaze and returned a wink to her.
The officer that was taking Summer’s statement also heard Stanley’s words. He then got up and walked over to the officer taking Stanley’s statement and whispered something to him.
Then, the expression of that officer became a little weird.
The officer coughed, and when he spoke, he was much more polite. “Mr. Li, why were you in Ms. Jarrett’s room?”
“She’s an old friend that I’ve not seen in a while, so I decided to play a prank,” Stanley said with a smile as if it was the truth.
Summer turned and glared at him.
Stanley glanced at Summer and showed the photo he had taken earlier to the police officer. “There, look, she and I are friends, and she reacted like that because I had come back without informing her so…”
When Stanley mentioned the word “friend” he had purposely emphasized it and nodded at the officer with a “you know” look.
