Tim left to help Leonardo book his air tickets.
Leonardo looked at the direction of the kitchen and gave Carl a call.
“If it’s not about treating me to dinner, shut it.” Carl’s encounter with Leonardo at Golden Cauldron was just by chance.
Leonardo had run back to take over the Emerson Corporation and had tossed Golden Cauldron and Tip Top Entertainment for him to handle.
Tossing all of them onto him was all fine and dandy, after all, he was also an investor, and now Leonardo was getting better at treating him as an errand boy. In the past, they might still have dinner together once in a while, but now, Leonardo would not look for him if there was nothing.
Carl had already been poking Leonardo about ending their friendship countless times now.
Leonardo could not be bothered about what Carl had to say, the latter after all had been threatening to jump off a building every time back then.
Leonardo just went on, “I’ll be flying to M Country tonight. I’ll take me about three to four days to get back. When I’m not in Hoover City, help me look after Summer.”
Carl may be flippant with his words, but he dared not hang up on Leonardo.
“What are you doing in M Country? Work?” he asked with a slight surprise.
Leonardo said, “Something else. Just help me look after Summer.”
“Sure, sure, sure.” Carl immediately changed the topic. “So, what is so serious that you need me to look after Summer. There’s something you’ve not told me yet?”
Carl was not an outsider and had a deep friendship with Leonardo, so the latter did not beat around the bush, and immediately told him the most important thing. “Adams and I are brothers of the same father and different mother.”
“HUH?!” Carl’s reaction was very animated. “The hell is with that situation? You’re pulling my toe Isn’t Adams your aunt’s son? If he’s your brother, then what about Douglas?”
It had to be said, Carl’s thinking was really scattered.
Leonardo ignored his question and said with a rumbling voice, “Sorry to trouble you.”
“Go, go, go, and don’t be so polite, that scares me. Plus, even if you didn’t ask me, just by Summer and Jessica’s relationship I would have to look after h—”
“Yeah.”
Leonardo hung up the call, and his gaze returned to the DNA paternity test report on the table as he read it. After that, he placed his phone aside and went to the kitchen.
Over in the kitchen, Summer was just cutting green peppers.
Leonardo enjoyed savory food, and Summer did not have much chance to cook for him nowadays, and now that she had the chance to do so, she would try to fit his tastebuds.
Leonardo’s footsteps were very light. He leaned against the door for a while, and seeing Summer was done cutting the green peppers, he handed a place over to her.
Summer was just about to turn to get a plate and found one beside her.
She took the plate and turned around to look at Leonardo. “Why are you here?”
“I’m hungry,” Leonardo said with a flat voice, but his gaze was firmly affixed on Summer.
“Why are you looking at me if you’re hungry? Wait at the dining table, it’s almost done,” Summer said as she elbowed him to try to push him out.
Leonardo did not move. Instead, he reached for her shoulder and coldly said, “I just want to look at you for a while longer.”
Summer was slightly stunned, the fact that he was so direct disconcerted her.
Before Leonardo left, Summer felt a little uneasy.
“Bring Tim along. He has been by your side for so many years now and is very reliable. Overseas is unlike Hoover City…” She had actually meant to say this in the living room. Leonardo raised his eyebrows, and his voice was almost a growl, with a hint of dissatisfaction. “Are you looking down on me, or Tim?”
Summer did not want to continue on this topic with this confident yet arrogant man.
The flight Tim booked for Leonardo was at six in the evening.
Leonardo headed to the airport at four.
To avoid any suspicions, Summer did not send him off.
After Leonardo left, Summer’s life returned to the film set and her house once again.
She would head to the set from time to time, and the rest was spent working on a new script.
…
By the time Leonardo arrived at M Country, it was already the next morning.
When he arrived with his luggage at Violet’s residence, she was in the yard looking at the newly hired artisan repairing it.
Leonardo took his suitcase and went in, and called out with an expressionless look. “Auntie.”
Violet heard the sound, and when she turned and saw Leonardo, she froze for a good half a minute before regaining her wits. “Leonardo? Why have you suddenly come?”
While she had tried to be as natural as possible, Leonardo caught a trace of anxiousness from her expression.
Violet was good friends with his mother since their childhood and had a long and deep relationship.
For them to be good friends, they must have something in common.
Even when he learned from Alexander that he had seen Violet at the kidnapping case site, Leonardo was only slightly turned off against Violet, but he did not think that she would have done such a thing.
Violet was a good girl since young and had the favor of Grandpa Emerson. She was properly raised by the Emerson family and was a decent person, she would never be capable of doing such a thing.
Plus, she had no motive.
But, even if she had no motive, she should still know something.
Leonardo set his suitcase upright as he walked toward Violet. His dark irises gleamed with a sharp glow as if to see through Violet. “Auntie, what sort of matter do you think I’d purposely come to look for you for?”
After his mother’s death, Leonardo had been living with Violet, but Violet had never regarded Leonardo as a child since then.
There was no child at his age who could have a psyche as deep as Leonardo.
Since that time, Violet felt that she had never seen through the child’s mind before.
Violet’s expression stiffened for a moment and said, “I won’t know if you don’t tell me why you have come looking for me. You’ve come from Hoover City, right? You must be tired after so long on the plane, go and rest first. Your room is still as it is.”
As she said that, she turned and ordered her servant. “Help Leonardo with his luggage, and take him to his room for him to rest.”
Immediately a servant came over and helped Leonardo with his luggage. “Young Master, here please.”
Leonardo gave Violet a deep gaze before turning away and followed the servant into his room.
The servant left right after he had brought Leonardo to his room. Leonardo then closed the door, as he prepared to give Summer a call. As he looked at the time, it was already eleven o’clock.
There was a time difference between M Country and back home, it was already night time then, and Summer may have already been asleep.
Leonardo did not call but sent her a message instead. “I’ve arrived.”
After sending the text, and just as he was about to put the phone down, it rang with a new text message.
It was a reply from Summer. “Just arrived? Have you eaten yet? Met your aunt already? What are you planning to say?”
