Chapter 314 Kissing Leonardo Against His Will

Book:CEO's Substitute Wife Published:2024-5-1

Leonardo was out of the private room heading to the parking lot, spotting the car that he bought for Summer at once. He walked over, opened the front passenger door, and got in.
Summer’s face was glued to her mobile phone. She did not even look up. “So you are here.”
“Are you angry?” Leonardo leaned slightly over to her.
She tucked away her mobile phone and turned to look at him, giving him a faint reply. “Nope.”
Leonardo did not believe her, of course. He sounded as if he was explaining, and also as if he was just making a casual statement.
“Kate called me after work, informing me that Michael had gone to my apartment and that if I didn’t feel like going home, I would have to have dinner with her.”
He got off work that early, and if he did not go home, it would only arouse Michael’s suspicion. So why didn’t he just play along and had dinner with Kate? So Michael could not get the goods on him. What happened after that was history. Kate was trying to introduce her best friend to Leonardo on the pretext of having dinner with him.
Summer showed not much reaction after hearing that. “Get out. I want to go home.” While speaking, she turned the ignition key.
“Summer, you are apparently angry.” Leonardo stopped her.
“Right, I am angry. I am so angry that I don’t want to see you.” She stopped cranking the engine, her voice reeking of anger.
Except for his unpredictable temper, there was one wonderful thing about Leonardo. She did not have to worry about him betraying her and seeing another woman. Leonardo was arrogant, but he was never ambiguous in his relationships. What she was angry about was that she could not contact him the entire night. She could not believe that he did not even have a minute to call her. Rosie’s disappearance had torn her to pieces. She could not imagine what she would become if terrible things were to happen to Leonardo.
After a moment of silence in the cabin, Leonardo suddenly chuckled.
“What are you laughing at?” Summer looked at him ill-humoredly.
“You are jealous?” Leonardo spread his hand on the back of her seat and the other on the windscreen, looking as if he had her in his arms.
Summer had a moment of jealousy when she first entered the private room. But after she came out, she was angrier at him for not picking up her call.
“You did not answer my call so I would come and get jealous of seeing you drinking with another woman?”
Summer tucked her hair, her voice a little in disbelief. “Don’t you think you are childish?”
As she finished, she saw his expression turned grim and his voice low. “Summer, how dare you say I am childish!”
She exhaled and looked up at him. “Do you know how worried I am when I couldn’t contact you the whole night?”
The light was not turned on in the cabin. They could only vaguely see each other’s faces with the help of the faint yellow light shining through the window.
“After returning to Hoover City, you spend most of your time either with the production team or investigating this and that. Do you still remember you are my woman?”
“What do you mean?” Summer was baffled.
Since the disappearance of Rosie and they both returned to Hoover City, Summer had been burying herself in work and things about the Emerson family.
Every time she came to him, it was only because of something else but never about him. This made Leonardo feel that he was worthless to her. He knew he had behaved a bit childishly tonight. But he just wanted her attention. He wanted her to know that other than Rosie, she still had him.
“Think for yourself.” Leonardo opened the door and was about to get out.
But Summer had no clue of what she should think. She raised her voice. “Leonardo, just tell me directly.”
Leonardo paused for a second, then still got out of the car.
She thought of Adams’s hair specimen that she had gotten today and got out of the car. Leonardo was pissed and walking away quickly. Summer had to run to catch up with him. She then grabbed his arm, panting. She checked her surroundings before she spoke.
“I’ve gotten Adams’s hair specimen. You get your dad’s hair and then conduct a DNA test.”
While speaking, she handed him a sealed plastic bag that contained Adams’s hair specimen. He might look grim at this time, but he still took the plastic bag.
“I will go now,” she said.
As soon as she turned around, Leonardo caught her, his voice barbaric. “Don’t go without leaving me a kiss.”
“What?” For a moment, Summer did not know what he meant. Why did he want her to kiss him?
Summer looked in the entrance’s direction of the Golden Cauldron; Kate and Amber were emerging from the restaurant.
“You sister is coming,” she said hurriedly.
She would not dare to kiss him in public, let alone that they were now publicly known to be separated. But Leonardo’s hand was holding on to her tighter as if he was afraid that she might escape. His eyes were looking at her with an unfathomable expression.
“She is introducing women to me. As my wife, don’t you want to exert your sense of ownership? Aren’t you a screenwriter? Don’t tell me you don’t even know how to kiss someone against the person’s will.”
“But… I don’t want to do that to you.”
Leonardo clenched his jaw, leaning forward to threaten her in a whisper. “If you don’t kiss me now, I will go up and tell Kate we haven’t been separated, and that we have even registered our marriage.”
Summer somehow felt that something was not right somewhere. What they wanted to do now was to find Rosie and the truth of his mom’s death. They were supposed on the same page. But why now he wanted to threaten her with these? What she could not help was that she knew Leonardo would mean what he said.
She turned and saw Kate and Amber approaching. At that split second, she made up her mind. She pushed Leonardo back against a lamppost, grabbed him by his lapel as she stood on her toes to kiss him.
Kissing someone against the person’s will. That was how she wrote in her script. She used too much force when she pushed him. Leonardo hit his back against the lamppost, causing a loud clunk sound.
Kate and Amber saw what happened at the scene and took that as real: Summer was kissing Leonardo against his will.
