Tim sighed as he asked, “Young Master, where to now?”
A few seconds later, Leonardo’s voice finally rang out. “Let’s look for Summer.”
Tim then drove the car toward Summer’s residence.
The vehicle stopped in front of Summer’s apartment building, and after Leonardo got out of the car, he ordered, “You can go. There’s no need to pick me up later.”
“Understood,” Tim acknowledged.
The moment Leonardo got out of the car, he drove away.
…
Summer was washing her face when the doorbell rang.
She had cried too hard in front of Michael today, and her eyes were now swollen.
The moment she heard the doorbell, she did not need to think twice to know that it was Leonardo.
She looked through the peephole, and it was indeed Leonardo.
Summer opened the door and looked around before she let him in.
“Come in.” Summer turned and walked into the living room as she said that.
Leonardo followed her and sat down on the sofa with casual familiarity.
“What do you want to drink? A glass of water?” Summer asked as she took a cup on the coffee table and poured him some water.
As she handed the glass over to him, Leonardo grabbed her hand.
Summer pouted slightly but did not resist.
Leonardo pulled her down to sit next to him, and as he wrapped his hand in hers and played around, he asked aloud, “What did he tell you?”
“He spoke about the child. He said that he would help me ask you about her,” Summer said, pausing for a moment before looking up at him. “So you let me move out just like that because you knew that he would come looking for me?”
Leonardo did not answer her and simply pulled her hand to his lips, kissing it.
It seemed like an absent kiss, and as his warm breath rubbed against her palm, it felt a little itchy.
Summer kicked him in the leg. “I’m asking you a question!”
“Oh,” Leonardo responded casually, still not answering her.
Summer had no way to deal with him and could only say, “Back then, during Grandpa’s incident, they did not deliberately frame me because they wanted to hurt me, or rather, they wanted to gauge my position in your heart. So, that’s why you were suspicious of me in front of them?”
Leonardo still did not answer, but his silence meant that he acknowledged it.
Summer continued her clear analysis, “Before that incident with Grandpa, he had wanted the both of us to meet him alone. He was acting weirdly back then. Can I assume that Grandpa might have discovered something, and… your father found out, but he could not bear to lay hands on Grandpa. So, he pulled that stunt and made me take the fall, killing two birds with one stone.
“Hence, the question is, what is your father trying to hide? Is it merely the truth about your mother’s kidnapping?”
The moment Summer thought about it, she became more frightened.
What was it that drove Michael to do commit so many harmful things.
Seeing Summer frowning in thought, Leonardo’s expression turned gloomy as well.
He released Summer’s hand and placed both of his hands on her shoulder as he rumbled, “Summer, look at me.”
“Hmm?” Summer turned to look at him.
Leonardo looked straight at her, his dark, black eyes hiding far too many complex emotions. They were almost indiscernible.
“You don’t know anything now. Grandpa’s case was an accident, and Rosie was secretly taken away because I wanted to snatch her from you. That’s all you know. That’s all!”
Leonardo held her shoulder with quite some force, and Summer felt a little pain. Yet, she did not make any noise and instead asked, “Why?”
Leonardo ignored her question and simply asked her, “Remember what I just said?”
Summer turned to the side. “No, I can’t.”
She already knew everything, yet she was being asked to play ignorant.
Leonardo knew that Summer was throwing a temper tantrum, but she had listened carefully to his words.
Leonardo continued, “Rosie is safe. Michael still wants me to look after Emerson Corporation, and she’s his most important trump card, so she’s safe. You don’t have to worry too much.”
“How could I not worry.” Summer’s frustration made her reach out to grab her hair. “I’m not just worried about Rosie, I’m worried about you as well.”
Leonardo snorted. “I don’t need you to worry about me. But remember, you are Leonardo’s woman, and I won’t allow you to go frolicking outside.”
They were talking serious business earlier, how did frolicking even come to the fore?
Summer pushed him. “I’m talking seriously with you.”
“So am I.” Something seemed to cross Leonardo’s mind as his expression turned cold. “Stay away from that Jerome.”
“Ever since I returned to Hoover City I’ve never even seen Jerome!” Summer stared at him angrily.
Why was this Leonardo even more long-winded than a woman?
Leonardo sneered as he squinted at her. His tone was rather threatening. “You still want to meet him?”
“No.” Summer had not seen such an expression on his face for a long time.
She pursed her lips and pragmatically replied, “No, I don’t want to see him.”
Nevertheless, Hoover City was just so large. She was bound to run into him someday.
Moreover, when she fled abroad earlier, Jerome had indeed helped her, and she owed him a favor.
“Make sure you keep your word.” Leonardo leaned over and gave her a peck on her lips, seemingly as a reward.
Summer broke into a smile.
Leonardo hugged her for a while before he got up to leave.
As he reached the door, Leonardo turned back and studied her with a deep gaze. “I might not be seeing you often during this period of time.”
“Oh.” Summer leaned against the door and froze for a short while before she nodded.
Leonardo frowned. “Such heartlessness. You’re not even gonna hold me back?”
Summer felt that Leonardo had a lot to say today and immediately pushed him out. “Go.”
After she sent Leonardo off, Summer returned to her room and sat alone on the sofa.
She recalled Jerome, whom Leonardo mentioned earlier.
If she had the time, she should meet Jerome.
However, the last time she saw him, he was different from the Jerome she had previously known.
Would Jerome hold a grudge against her for what she did to him before she fled abroad?
She suddenly remembered that at the airport, Jerome told her that the Emerson family was much more than met the eye.
Did that mean Jerome knew some things about the Emerson family?
In any case, both of them were in Hoover City, and they would meet sooner or later. So, Summer had no plans to proactively look for Jerome.
…
Leonardo mentioned that he would not be seeing a lot for the time being, and he indeed never looked for her during this period.
Aside from discussing her script with Eliza, Summer’s life was rather uneventful.
