“Okay, I’ll keep that in mind.” Although Summer said that, she knew she was not going to bother Jessica or Carl if something happened.

True to Jessica’s words, Kate looked for Summer not long after that.
Summer was having her breakfast the next morning when she heard a voice outside. Before she got up to see who it was, she heard high heels click-clacking in her direction. A moment later, a woman appeared at the dining hall’s entrance.
She wore a business suit and looked like a capable woman. Her brows resembled that of Leonardo’s, and she exuded the same icy vibe. Summer could already guess that she was Kate.
The woman walked up to Summer, studying her with piercing eyes. After a few seconds, the woman spoke. “You’re Summer?”
Not only was her aura like Leonardo’s, but her classy demeanor and pride of the rich were also the same. Her powerful sense of presence was clear when she spoke.
However, Summer was so used to Leonardo’s forceful personality that she was not intimidated by Kate. Summer looked at her and calmly said, “Yes, I am Summer.”
There was a fleeting surprise in the woman’s eyes.
“You should know who I am.” The woman stared at Summer. “I am Kate, Leonardo’s elder sister.”
“Nice to meet you.” Summer stood up and signaled the maid as a woman of the house would. “Serve our guest some tea.”
“That won’t be necessary.” Kate put up her hand to stop the maid, then folded her arms as she looked at Summer. “I guess you know why I’m here. Before I came back, I heard that you pushed my grandpa down the stairs.”
Summer rebutted. “I didn’t do it. The case is still under investigation—”
“Okay.” Kate cut Summer off as if she was too annoyed to hear Summer’s explanation. “I’m here just to take a look at the woman who has ruined my brother’s reputation and created havoc in the Emerson family. I have no time for you, I need to go to the hospital now.”
Judging from the way Kate talked, it was apparent that she was a very pushy person. She definitely lived up to her reputation as Leonardo’s twin sister. They were almost identical in temperament.
After Kate was done talking, she headed out. Summer walked her to the door. As they passed the living room, a person who seemed like Kate’s assistant greeted her, “President Emerson.” Next to the assistant was luggage. It looked like Kate had directly searched for Summer as soon as she landed.
Just then, a car was heard screeching to a stop outside. They looked out the door as Leonardo appeared. Kate went up to him and gave him a hug.
“Long time no see, my good brother.”
Leonardo accepted her embrace, which was only a light touch of each other before their bodies parted. She looked at Leonardo and spoke with a sneer.
“It’s just as Grandpa has said, you really like this woman. I’m here just to take a look at her. It looks like you’ve returned in a hurry. You thought I would do something to her?”
Leonardo did not even look at her. He just walked past her and went up to Summer. He examined Summer for a while before he turned around to face Kate.
“Don’t you want to visit Grandpa in the hospital?”
Kate folded her arms together, raising her chin slightly with a haughty look.
“Right away. Aren’t you giving me a ride?”
Leonardo glanced back at Summer. Without saying a word, he left with Kate.
As Kate reached the door, she turned her head around and gave Summer a meaningful look, as though she was looking at a buffoon. Summer clenched her fists and pressed her lips together, her facial muscles tense. Kate did not hide the fact that she looked down on Summer.

Outside the mansion, Kate and Leonardo got into the car. After fastening her seatbelt, Kate said, “The woman you like isn’t that special, after all.”
Leonardo did not look at her. “At least she’s better than you.” His voice was as chilly as ice.
“You’re quite protective of her.” Kate and Leonardo were used to talking like that. She did not hold back too.
“I’ll see how you’re going to protect her if the investigation shows that she’s the person who pushed Grandpa down the stairs.” Kate’s expression turned grave as she talked about Grandpa Emerson.
“Would you please shut up?” Leonardo said, sounding annoyed.
Kate was angered. “Leonardo, since you married that woman, have you had a peaceful life? I’ve told you long ago that she doesn’t suit you. Yet, you still married her. Now—”
The car suddenly screeched to a halt, interrupting Kate as she screamed and her head jerked forward. She looked over at Leonardo and exploded.
“Leonardo, are you mad? Am I wrong?!”
Leonardo looked steady. Only his voice revealed his emotions a little. “You are wrong in every way.”
“You—” Kate blew her top.
“Get out.”
“Leonardo!”
“Did you hear what I just said?” Leonardo turned to her, his eyes bitter. “You fled abroad for over a decade and have never given a hoot about me. What right do you have now to teach me and point a finger at my woman?”
Kate was startled to see his expression, his cold eyes telling her that he was no longer the young boy who used to smile at her and call her “sister”. Kate swallowed hard and calmed herself. After a few seconds, she said amicably, “Okay, let”s cool down. I didn’t come back to argue with you. Are we going to the hospital now?”
“Get out!” Leonardo did not buy it.
Her words were stuck in her throat. Knowing Leonardo’s temperament, Kate groaned and bore it despite her resentment. Undoing the seat belt, she got out of the car. As soon as she was out of the car, Leonardo sped away, and her face reddened in anger.
Her assistant stopped another car beside her, then got out and opened the door for her. She shot her assistant a sideways glare, warning, “Don’t tell anyone about what happened today!”
“Understood.” Her assistant nodded, not looking at her.
Kate hissed. She did not like Summer at first, but now, she hated her even more.

Arriving at the hospital, Kate found that Leonardo did not wait for her. Her face darkened even as she went up to the ward.
She saw Michael in front of the ward, and there was only a faint smile on his face when he saw her. She went up to Michael, greeted him, and hugged him. He patted her on the back and said, “Go and see Grandpa.”
Leonardo stood on the side, watching the touching father-and-daughter reunion indifferently. His lips curled up but there was no smile on his face.
