Chapter 230 Should I Call You a Dotard?

When she thought about that, Summer’s expression was no better than Leonardo’s. It meant that Adams had adamantly set himself against Leonardo. She did not know why Adams wanted to do that. What could have made him so amoral and openly at odds with Leonardo?
The atmosphere in the cabin was a little depressing.
They had planned to have dinner together in the Golden Cauldron after the court hearing, so Tim drove them there.
Carl had been waiting in the private dining room. When Summer and the others arrived, he was making his order.
It had been a while since Carl last saw Summer, but he had not changed; he was still a flippant character. Pulling out a chair, he winked at her.
“Summer, please sit here.”
His hospitality stunned her. “No matter how much you try, I’m not going to put in a good word for you. Jessica hates you.”
“I’m not as business-minded as you think. Furthermore, you are now very important to us all.” While Carl spoke, he looked over at Leonardo. “Don’t you think so, Leonardo?”
Leonardo ignored him and pulled out a chair for Summer. After she took a seat, he then sat down beside her.
Carl shrugged it off and leaned over at Warren, asking, “How are things? Is everything all right?”
Warren just spread out his hands. The way he saw it, things had gone according to plan. However, after Adams’s appearance, Leonardo’s expression had been foul.
When they finished their dinner, it was 8. 00 p. m. Carl and Warren still had appointments, so Leonardo and Summer went home.

As soon as they stepped into the living room, Summer saw Eliza mopping the floor. What a rare scene.
Eliza greeted them, but Summer could see the indignation on her swollen face. There were still a few plasters on her forehead.
“Are you all right?” Summer asked.
Eliza was transfixed for a second before she replied, “I’m fine.”
“Let’s go back to the room.” Leonardo brought Summer upstairs, not looking at Eliza the entire time.
At the corner of the stairs, Summer looked back and saw Eliza squatting down and resuming her work again.
Summer started to suspect that Eliza had hit her head somewhere. From the looks of things, Eliza was determined to become a maid, and the thought frightened her.
Back in the bedroom, Summer proceeded to enter the bathroom. That was when her mobile phone vibrated.
Leonardo peered at the screen and saw a notification that said she had a message from Grandpa. He remembered that Grandpa Emerson and Summer had added each other to their Wechat contact list.
He glanced at the bathroom as he heard the water start to run. Then he picked up her mobile phone and looked at the message. It was an audio message.
“Summer, Alisa must have caused you a lot of trouble today.”
When Leonardo heard that, his lips curled up. Grandpa Emerson was being protective. Although Grandpa Emerson was delighted to know that Summer was pregnant, Alisa was his granddaughter.
She must have complained to her grandpa. While Grandpa Emerson knew chalk from cheese, because such a thing had happened, rapping Summer became inevitable.
Leonardo deleted the message and video-called Grandpa Emerson.
Charlie was a little surprised that Summer was video-calling him. He tapped the answer button, and instead of Summer, he saw Leonardo, whose face vexed him.
“It’s you? Where is Summer?”
Grandpa Emerson’s expression told Leonardo that he was not pleased to see him. So, Leonardo switched the view to the rear-facing camera and pointed it at the bathroom door.
“She’s in the shower,” Leonardo said.
“We have nothing to talk about. I’ll call her tomorrow.”
Just as Grandpa Emerson was about to end the call, Leonardo said, “If you’re feeling bored, you can go back to work. I think your son would be happy to pass the helm to you.”
“Leonardo!” Grandpa Emerson’s face straightened.
Leonardo took the mobile phone and walked out, sneering. “Sending women to your grandson’s mansion while his wife is pregnant… Should I call you a dotard?”
What happened this time had really angered Leonardo. He was very close to Grandpa Emerson when he was a kid, but Grandpa Emerson did not want him to pursue his mom’s case, and that had drawn a wedge between them. Leonardo did not want to make a mountain out of a molehill, especially since Grandpa Emerson had been treating Summer well. Despite that, Grandpa Emerson’s actions caused him to lose his patience.
Grandpa Emerson was fit to be tied, but he still urged him earnestly, “Leonardo, this is for your own good. You have to take over the helm of Emerson Corporation. You shouldn’t waste all of your energy and time on a woman just like your dad…”
In Grandpa Emerson’s mind, it was normal for men to have more than one woman. However, his beloved son, Michael, had remained single ever since the death of his wife. It seemed like he had not recovered from the depression all these years.
Unlike Grandpa Emerson, who had courted many women in his life, his son was only infatuated with one woman. When Leonardo brought Summer to visit Grandpa Emerson earlier on, Grandpa Emerson could already sense how infatuated Leonardo was with her. Since then, a thought started to emerge in his mind.
Leonardo scoffed. “Like my dad? Are you sure he can’t forget Mom or is he just feeling guilty?”
“Leonardo, I’ve told you a hundred times, there is nothing suspicious about your mom’s case. It was just an accident.” Grandpa Emerson sounded tired.
“I was there when your mom grew up, and you know how much your dad loved your mom. Leonardo, you have been investigating the case for so many years, yet you have found nothing. It’s all in your head.”
Grandpa Emerson babbled on while Leonardo listened. Once Grandpa Emerson finished, he asked, “Will my aunt come home for New Year this year? She hasn’t come home for many years.”
He quietly observed Grandpa Emerson’s expression, but except for a sigh from him, there was nothing unusual about Grandpa Emerson’s reaction. Leonardo frowned. Could Alexander be lying? If given a choice, he would rather not believe that his aunt had something to do with the case.
“Leonardo?”
Summer’s voice came through, cutting off his train of thought, and Leonardo looked back. Summer was now in her sleeping gown with a thick coat on top, wrapped up like a dumpling.
