Chapter 196 How Many More Times Do You Want to Appear on the Trending Topics?

Book:CEO's Substitute Wife Published:2024-5-1

The next day, Summer left home at 6 p. m. to go to the Golden Cauldron. Dinner was scheduled at 7 p. m. according to Leonardo, but since she was idle at home, she thought she may as well go early.
When she arrived at the Golden Cauldron, it was 6. 40 p. m. Adams arrived right after she set foot in the private room, and seeing that Leonardo was not there, he asked her, “Has Leonardo arrived?”
Summer checked the time. It was already close to 7 p. m. She sighed and said, “Ever since he went back to Emerson Group, he’s been busy all day.”
Her voice told him she was down, so Adams quickly changed the subject.
“Douglas wanted to tag along, but his classmates asked him out for a basketball game.”
Summer had not seen Douglas for a while, and she was missing him. So, she struck up a conversation with Adams while they waited for Leonardo.
It was past seven, yet Leonardo was still nowhere to be seen. He was a man of his word and punctilious, but he had yet to arrive. Could something have happened to him?
She called him but he hung up on her. She stared at her mobile phone, and her expression was not looking good.
“What’s wrong?” Adams asked.
“Nothing…” She pursed her lips, trying to smile. “Leonardo isn’t here yet. I’m afraid he’s tied up with work again. Why don’t we order something now?”
Just like her, Adams had come with an empty stomach. If Leonardo was really tied up at work and would only arrive very late, they would starve.
However, Adams did not mind. “It’s okay, let’s just wait a little longer.”
It was past eight now. Summer decided not to wait any longer and let Adams order their food. A three-person dinner ended up with only Adams and Summer.
Leonardo only arrived after they finished their meal and tea was served.
Summer looked down at her teacup like a bear with a sore head. He should not have chosen to meet today if he could not make it, or he should have at last called if he was busy.
“You busy?” Adams poured him a cup of tea, his voice gentle.
Leonardo was sitting beside Summer and placing his hand on her chair’s backrest as if marking his territory.
Adams’s eyes stopped on Leonardo’s hand that was resting on the backrest for a mere few seconds before quickly shifting away, as though he was just glancing over.
“Quite.” Leonardo took the cup, poured the tea down his throat, and glanced at Summer. “Have you two eaten?”
“Yeah, you didn’t seem to be coming, so we ordered some food and ate.”
Leonardo said nothing and just looked at Summer.
She pretended not to notice his stare, continuing to just sip from her cup. Is she angry?
“I could have arrived much earlier, but there was an accident on my way here, and I broke my mobile phone.” Leonardo looked at Adams as he spoke.
Summer’s ears perked up as he spoke, although she acted like she was still angry.
“Are you okay?” She turned to ask as soon as his voice trailed off.
“I’m fine.” Leonardo looked down at her with a smile. “It was someone else, not me. The traffic jammed terribly, that’s why I’m late.”

Since the two already had their dinner, Leonardo ordered his. He filled his face real quick, but with manners.
It even looked pleasing to the eyes, but that was probably because he was handsome.
After that, Summer and Leonardo went home together.
It was the first time they had gone home together in a week.
No one spoke in the cabin until Summer broke the silence.
“It’s been a long time since we last went home together.”
“Didn’t you refuse to travel with me last time?” Leonardo started to dredge up the past.
“That was different.” She pouted.
They argued on the way until they arrived at home.
The debate ended with Leonardo dropping her on the bed.
He had probably been too exhausted at work and had no strength to hold back.
He made love to her a few times in a row, and the next morning when Summer woke up, she found him still asleep.
She touched his face with her fingers, gingerly drawing on his facial contour.
He suddenly caught her hand with his half-closed eyes, taking her hand to his lips and nibbling it playfully. “Don’t move.”
She smiled, using her other hand to touch his face.
They ended up teasing and flirting with each other again.
Just then, Summer’s mobile phone rang, bringing their minds back to the real world.
She reached out to grab her mobile phone on the bedside table and mumbled to herself, “Who’s calling me this early?”
She looked at her mobile phone and found that it was a number she did not recognize. “Who could it be?” she mumbled again.
Leonardo took a peek from behind and said, “It’s Carl.”
“Carl is calling me?” She looked dumbstruck.
“The call should be for me.” While he spoke, he took the mobile phone from her.
He had broken his phone the previous night, and he did not carry the other company mobile phones.
Carl likely could not contact him, so he called her mobile phone instead.
It sounded entirely logical now.
“Anything?” Leonardo answered with a stone-cold voice.
Feeling curious, Summer leaned closer to the phone and heard Carl foaming at the mouth.
“What’s gone wrong now? Someone has the photos of Adams and Summer dining together! They’re going to make it up to the trending topics again!”
He sounded so angry like he was about to burst out of the telephone.
Summer was transfixed. She then asked the obvious, “Adams and I are trending again?”
Leonardo hung up, his face darkening as he opened Weibo.
Sure enough, Adams and Summer were famous again.
“#Adams’s secret girlfriend#”
Summer’s mouth twitched as she spoke. “If this keeps happening, I can probably make my debut already…”
Leonardo shot her a look. “How many more times do you want to appear on the trending topics?”
The photos had apparently been secretly taken in the Golden Cauldron last night before Leonardo arrived, during which she and Adams had dinner alone.
Adams’s face was clear while Summer’s face remained blurry in the photos.
She pursed her lips, becoming indignant. “It’s not like I wanted it. Had you not been late last night, they would have photographed the three of us together!”
