Summer sat in the dining room, eating her breakfast while Leonardo sat opposite her, staring at her with his arms crossed. His face looked as indifferent as ever, but the way he looked at Summer as if he had not seen her for years.
“Laura… what is she up to?” Summer suddenly asked. Not that she did not trust him. She just needed to figure out what it was all about. How did Laura find her way to Leonardo’s mansion? What about that viral news?
“Have you read the news?” Leonardo did not answer her question.
“Yeah, all of them.” Summer took a spoonful of congee, closing her eyes to savor its deliciousness. Ava was a great cook. She could cook too, but her cooking skills were nowhere near Ava’s.
Leonardo carefully observed her expression. Other than a satisfied face, he could not make out any signs of anger in her.
He cocked an eyebrow. “Aren’t you angry?”
“Why should I be angry? It’s not true after all.” She just felt a little displeased when Leonardo was mentioned along with other women. Thinking of that, she prodded the bowl with her spoon, feeling a little angry.
Still staring at her, Leonardo made sure no expression or movement skipped his eye.
“Why do you trust me?”
“Why not? I’d have been less pissed if it were Vicky instead of a woman like Laura.”
She was just drawing an analogy, but Leonardo’s face suddenly turned darker than a moonless night.
She carefully glanced at him. It puzzled her to see him getting upset. Did she just say something wrong?
“Summer, listen carefully.”
“Huh?” Was he going to rebuke her now?
“Never mention about me hooking up with other women again,” Leonardo said while Summer was still thinking of how to talk back if he went off on her.
She felt that this man was even more stubborn than she was.
“I was just drawing an analogy.”
“You shouldn’t even draw an analogy.”
“Fine.”
Summer’s anger died down, and Leonardo began to get serious. He frowned and said, “Laura may have started to become suspicious of my identity.”
Finishing her meal, Summer put down her spoon and looked at him. “What will you do?”
“Let things take their natural course,” he said after a moment of silence.
“Take their natural course?” She could not follow his train of thought. Taking their natural course meant Leonardo was returning to the public eye? If that happened, the rumor about the young master Emerson’s disfigurement would not hold water anymore. Following that, swarms of women would become head over heels for him.
It was a weird feeling. It was as if she had a treasure that only she could see and know how good it was. But one day, this treasure would be exposed to the public and coveted by others. It was not a pleasant feeling.
“Are you finished?” Leonardo suddenly asked, and she nodded. He held her and brought her back to the bedroom.
Closing the door behind them, he came down on her with his fervent kisses and completely drove away her jealousy.
Some say that a person’s absence is more irritating than his or her presence.
It could be true because Summer was feeling exactly that for the past few days. Her submission and cooperativeness aroused him even more.
The feeling of longing for each other intensified. As Leonardo lifted up her leg, thrusting and driving it all the way in, he encouraged her with his sexy voice. “Call me honey! Call me!”
“Honey… Aaah…” she screamed as he increased his force.
Summer had just been back on a morning flight. After taking a bowl of congee, Leonardo brought her back to the bedroom and made out with her. It was not until a few rounds later when she started to pass out that Leonardo let go of her.
When she finally woke up, it was nightfall. The room was dim with only the faint light from the wall lamp turned on.
Summer turned in bed and saw Leonardo sitting on the couch nearby, reading from a document. Near him was the faint yellow light from the incandescent light bulb.
He had had a shower, his damp hair stuck to his forehead. Wearing soft home wear, his fierce aura faded in the dim yellow light. He was now looking a lot gentler.
Summer stared at him for a while, her lips curling up in a smile. She flipped her body slowly, trying to make as small a movement as possible, but it still caught Leonardo’s attention. He looked up from his reading and in her direction. There was a genuine gentleness in his otherwise unfathomable dark eyes.
“You hungry?” His voice still sounded low.
She tried to utter a word but found her voice husky, so she nodded. Leonardo put down the document in his hand and got to his feet. He came to sit down on the edge of the bed and kissed her on the forehead. Just as he was about to pull away, he saw her beautiful cat eyes gazing into his. He just loved how her eyes looked; they were incredibly beautiful. When they looked at him, they hooked on to his soul.
He could not help leaning down to kiss her. She started to gasp for air, struggling to push him away. “I’m hungry!”
Leonardo appeared to be panting. “Would you like to eat here or downstairs?”
“Downstairs!” If she ate there, Ava would find out what she and Leonardo had been doing in the bedroom for the entire afternoon.
Leonardo had read her mind. He broke into a smile of delight and smugness. He should get a good beating, she thought. So, she playfully punched him twice in his chest.
…
The next morning, the ringing of her mobile phone woke her out of her sleep. She reached out and rummaged her hand around, looking for her mobile phone. But Leonardo found it before she did and hung it up. He then drew her back in his arms.
“It’s still early. Let’s sleep for a while longer.”
Just when she closed her eyes, the mobile phone rang again. She was completely out of her sleep now. Seeing that, Leonardo took the mobile phone, wanting to turn it off.
“Don’t turn it off. Give it to me.” Summer took it from his hand and answered. It was Jessica, her voice furious.
“Are you still sleeping? Get up. We need to go to a hotel and catch him with his pants down!”
“Who are you talking about?” Summer was puzzled.
Jessica was getting even keener. “Your husband, Leonardo, of course!”
Struck dumb, Summer glanced over at her husband, Leonardo.
