Summer had seen before how Jessica would give Carl the “good news” every time she saw him. What she did right then was no surprise to her. She looked at Warren, who stood next to “Douglas”, and said hello to him with a polite smile on her face.
Warren nodded in reply.
Leonardo had noticed how Summer reacted when she said, “How come you’re here too?”
That meant she had seen someone else. Not that she had many friends, let alone friends who could go to places like the Golden Cauldron. Leonardo went up to Summer and peered down at her.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were having dinner with a friend here?”
“Does it matter to you?” The question puzzled Summer.
Meanwhile, Carl still smiled like a Cheshire cat even after he received the “good news” from Jessica.
“Have you guys had your dinner? I guess you’re probably still hungry. Why don’t you join us? The more the people, the merrier…”
“Thanks, but no thanks. We’ve had our fill.” Summer was very forthright.
Very gently, Leonardo said, “Join us. After that, we can go home together.”
Summer had always been soft-hearted. Hearing his gentle urges, she hesitated. Before she knew it, Leonardo grabbed her hand and walked toward the private room.
Not that she was being pretentious-in fact, she was happy to get a free ride home, but with him holding her hand, she found it too embarrassing.
“Let go. I can walk on my own.”
“Douglas” glanced back at her. Without saying a word, he released her. As she looked back, Jessica had come up right behind her. Though, the way Jessica looked at her told her that something was not good.
The next second, she could feel her phone vibrating. She took a glance at it; Jessica had sent her a text message.
“This cousin of his looks badass! I’m enchanted!
“I think you should consider him: fit on the inside and handsome on the outside!”
How could she be certain that “Douglas” was fit on the inside? She replied with an emoticon that basically said, “You have no shame.”
Not to be outdone, Jessica replied with a Troublemaker emoticon.
Summer broke into a mysterious smile as she followed up with another text message. “Carl isn’t bad either. Good looks, great body. Not to mention, he’s rich. Think about it!”
This time, Jessica did not reply. She just glared at Summer.
They then came to a private room. At first, Leonardo and his mates were going to have a business dinner in the same place but a different room.
Since Summer and Jessica were there, they decided to skip the business dinner and got themselves a private room. They would get something to eat and go home. Summer and Jessica just had their dinner, so they decided to only order fruits for dessert.
…
In another private dining room, Adams had just finished his meal when his assistant came in and whispered into his ear, “I saw Young Master Moo here as well.”
It was Leonardo, whom the assistant was talking about.
“Then, I have to go over and say hello.” Adams got up and headed for the door.
As he came before their room, he pushed the door open and saw Leonardo there. Before he could say anything, his eyes spotted another person, Summer.
Leonardo was equally surprised to see Adams there, but his keen eyes took a discreet peek at Summer, who had her head lowered. She was fiddling with her phone along with Jessica. He then looked at Adams. “Look who’s here! Our best actor, Adams!” His mind was working at 100 mph as he recalled what Summer had said: “How come you’re here too?” His expression underwent a very subtle change.
Upon hearing what “Douglas” said, Summer looked up and saw Adams standing at the doorway.
By then, Adams had recovered from his surprise and was all smiles. “I got wind that Mr. Jones was here, so I figured I had to come and say hello.”
Adams was an actor signed under Tip Top Entertainment, which was not a secret. Hence, what he said was perfectly logical. Despite that, the atmosphere had turned incredibly awkward.
“Oh, ya, what a coincidence!” Carl said.
“Well, I have friends over there. I’ve got to go.” As Adams went, he secretly glanced at Leonardo and Summer. Summer thought Adams was eyeing “Douglas” while Leonardo thought he was eyeing Summer. They both looked at each other but quickly looked away when their eyes met.
“That guy’s Adams!” Jessica, the slowpoke finally realized and smacked Summer with her hand. “Summer, that guy’s Adams! Why didn’t you ask to have a picture with him?”
Carl chimed in, still looking like a Cheshire cat. “Summer, if you’d like to have a picture with Adams, you can find me in my office.” As the saying went, the best way to get to a woman was through her besties around her, and Summer was Jessica’s bestie.
Hearing what Carl said, Leonardo shot him a look. “Isn’t the food good enough to shut you up?”
Carl was struck dumb. Did he just say something wrong? Was Leonardo angry? He was still all smiles when Summer spent his money, and he just did Summer a favor. Should Leonardo not feel happy about it?
Before that, all was merry and bright. Adams’s appearance had turned the entire atmosphere weird. Even after they left the Golden Cauldron, Summer still sensed something strange.
On the way home, Summer asked “Douglas”, “You know Adams, don’t you?” If not, why would Adams glance at him as he left?
Feeling a little irritated, Leonardo replied coldly, “Does it matter to you?”
What was the fit about? She had asked him nicely. He could choose not to tell her, but why did he have to agitate her? It was not like she never tried to get along with him since they were living under the same roof. Summer did not say another word to him until they arrived home.
As soon as they arrived, Summer asked a bodyguard, “Is the young master home?”
The bodyguard was well prepared. “The young master is already asleep.”
Summer acknowledged with a nod before she headed upstairs. While she pondered, she decided to send Leonardo a message.
“Jessica and I had dinner together tonight. Just arrived home. Good night.”
Leonardo returned to his room, his face dark. Just then, he got the message from Summer. Was she reporting her whereabouts? She was getting better and better at it. Despite having such a thought, his tensed emotions finally eased up without him realizing. He swiped his finger across the screen and replied with an “Mm”.
Right then, Adams called. Leonardo stared at the caller screen for two seconds before he answered.
“Leonardo?” Adams sounded gentle as always.
In Leonardo’s memories, Adams had always been an elder brother with a good temper, but Leonardo did not sound very welcoming. “You’ve met Summer before?”
