Chapter 19 Smutty is as Smutty does

Book:CEO's Substitute Wife Published:2024-5-1

Summer thought Tim Knight had not seen them flirting, so she scurried into the kitchen at once. Meanwhile, Leonardo walked to the sofa and sat down.
Seeing that, Tim Knight fled. He had no clue what was in his boss’s head.

Inside the kitchen, Summer opened the fridge and saw loads of stuff: fresh veggies, meats, and so on. As such, she decided to take a little bit of everything.
She suddenly remembered Leonardo made breakfast the other day. That meant he could cook? She had no idea where the young master of a wealthy family learned his kitchen skills. Nonetheless, since he could make himself food, why did she have to cook for him? Was she an easy target for bullying?
Summer sneered, dumped everything back into the fridge, and walked out into the living room. “Douglas” was sitting on the sofa with his eyes glued to his phone. She shot him a glance, observed her surroundings, then sneaked back upstairs.
She was probably too timid that “Douglas” found it easy to threaten her. The fact that “Douglas” could stay in Leonardo’s house meant they were brothers in arms. If that was the case, why would “Douglas” want to foul his own nest by telling Leonardo she was seducing him? That would ruin their relationship as cousins.
The likelihood of “Douglas” threatening her was low, Summer thought. Screw it! She had better things to do, and she had filled up her stomach, anyway. So, she slipped back into her room upstairs.
Leonardo had been waiting for ages, yet Summer had not come out. He gazed in the kitchen’s direction, then got up and went to check on her.
That ugly woman was long gone. Great!

Summer was in a cheery mood; she had gotten her revenge. Thinking of him jumping up and down in anger, she had a beautiful dream that night.
Early the next morning, the ringing of her phone woke her up. She glanced at her phone, and the caller was her bestie, Jessica, who had been abroad shooting movies for the past three months.
“Jessica! Are you coming home?” Summer was excited.
On the other end, Jessica started to yell, “I’ll stuff you in a mayonnaise jar and throw you out to sea!”
Summer had to hold her phone two feet away to avoid Jessica from splitting her eardrum. She waited until Jessica was done squealing and asked, “What happened?”
“Check it out on social media! I’ve only been away for three months and you’ve become “Smutty is as smutty does; no holds barred marriage into a wealthy family!” Jessica sounded absolutely mad.
It confused Summer. The excitement on her face gradually faded, but her priority was to mollify Jessica’s anger.
“Calm down. Let me check what this is all about,” Summer said.
“I’m at the airport now!”
Summer was a little amazed at She Jessica’s hit-the-ground-and-running attitude. The line went dead, and she immediately checked social media. The hottest topic in town seemed to be “Smutty is as smutty does”. She clicked into the topmost post that seemed to refer to the Mu Family. The story described that she used dirty tricks to steal her elder sister’s place to marry into the Emerson family. A few posts were making a deliberate effort to lead people into thinking that Vicky was the loving, good-hearted girl, and her younger sister had stolen her fiance.
