CHAPTER 163 (66)

Book:Her possessive alpha Published:2024-6-2

Mr. Romantic
Life had been much kinder to Ava in this new home of hers. It didn’t feel as if anyone noticed her mistakes here, and apart from the mysterious gifts from only the goddess knows who, alpha Daryl appointed her a personal guard along with Keisha to be her servant. She was relieved of all her pack assignments and given special treatment. Ava doesn’t know why all these things are happening, but she feels that this mysterious admirer of her might have influenced things in some way.
It also came quite strange how alpha Daryl took a sudden liking to her, probably after knowing who she was, probably because he held Lucas and Cian in such high regard, or probably because he felt so much pity for her, she’ll never know, but then being here didn’t turn out to be so bad after all.
Apart from all these luxuries, she knew they meant nothing without being in the arms of the one she truly wanted. It’s been so many lonely nights, and yet Ava still hasn’t gotten used to it. At this point, she doesn’t think she ever will. Most of her afternoons here are spent taking walks with Keisha, as alpha Daryl doesn’t permit her to do most things on her own, she’d expected to come here and live as an omega, serving along with those in her ranks, but then the alpha would not hear of it.
‘Maybe Daryl thinks Lucas will come back for you soon, and he doesn’t want your mate to get angry at him for not giving you proper treatment when he does.’
‘If that’s what he thinks, then he’s sadly mistaken. Lucas will never come here for me.’

Keisha was busy this afternoon, and thanks to Daryl. Ava couldn’t go for a walk alone, she remained in her room, happy that she had something else to do now besides knitting. She settled on a rocking chair and got hold of one of the books gifted to her this afternoon, reading its contents while she caressed her bump, she hadn’t gone too far into the pages when she heard a knock on her door.
“Who is it?”
“It’s Rian.”
“Oh, Rian… please come in.”
The Daivie wolf, slightly older than Ava then entered. He was an omega of this pack, and one of Ava’s good friends she’d made here. She was surprised to see him come by this time.
“Back from hunting so early?”
“The commandant let us off since we caught a good catch on time.”
“Oh, that’s good.”
“Yes, it is. We’ll be having lots of meat at supper this evening. The young ones will be so excited.”
Ava chuckled, “can’t wait.”
He then changed the topic, “what about you, how did you spend your afternoon?”
She rose the book she was holding in her hand, showing him the obvious; she’d been sitting here alone all afternoon.
“Oh,” Rian creased his brow. “Isn’t this the time you and Keisha normally go for walks? You used to love it, why didn’t you go today?”
“The cooks needed extra help in the kitchen today, I guess it’s because of the big catch from your hunt, so Keisha wasn’t available for me.”
“Oh, yes. That’s true… now I feel bad that you are here all alone.”
She smiled at him, “thank you Rian… but I’m not alone. I have my son keeping me company and kicking me every once in a while.”
He laughed at her small joke, “oh, yes… that’s right. Sorry I forgot about the little one.”
“It’s ok. At least I didn’t die of boredom, thanks to these books a special someone sent me today,” as she spoke, she passed a friendly gaze in his direction, a friendly gaze tinted with suspicion.
“I see, huh, so what gifts did Mr. Romantic send you today?”
“I received a basket of fresh fruits and these latest editioned books which seemed to be quite interesting,” she indicted towards the basket on the table.
“Good then, I’ll help you thank Mr. Romantic when I see him,” he gave her a wink which made her flush a little.
Wanting to find a way to get her mind off Mr. Romantic, he decided to offer the assistance Keisha couldn’t give then.
“Now that your servant is unavailable, how about I take you for that walk? It would be good of you to stretch your legs now so we can just go together.”
Ava shook her head, refusing, “oh, no Rian. You need to rest from your hunt. It’s not everyday you get to close from duties so early.”
“No, dear. I insist, in fact it’s not a bother to me at all. I can always rest when I come back.”
Ava wasn’t so certain. “Are you sure?”
He took her hands, retrieving the book she held to place it on the nearby table, then he looked back at her, “yes dear, I’m sure I want to spend the rest of the afternoon with you.”
“Ok… thank you for agreeing to come with me.”
I should be the one thanking you Ava.”
She rose a brow, “I don’t understand. What could you be possibly thanking me for?”
“For coming here, into the Daivie pack, for always lightning my mood with your presence, thank you so much for everything, Ava.”
Ava was surprised to hear these words. Rian was always fond of praising her, but then he always outdoes the previous one each time, every day that passes, he goes more in-depth with his feelings. Ava feels bad because she does not want to disappoint him in the end. Rian is not just a good person, but also a caring friend.
They began their walk shortly after talking. They wandered not too far away from the packhouse, as Rian took her around, she loved going round because she got to see most of the works that had been done here by the dawn soldiers. During their walks, Keisha always told her about how much impact alpha Lucas made here, how ever since they had the support of the dawn army, the Daivie pack had never faced intense attack from the rogues, they got back to their feet thanks to Lucas De’ Clan’s support. It’s hard not to think of him while she’s here, so hard.
