The secret admirer
***THREE MONTHS LATER***
After much time had passed, Vulcan Darin was now more than certain that the witch had absconded, the dawn pack alpha is still alive and sits mighty on the throne, and he has not heard from Sabrina, neither is she anywhere to be found.
The news of what had really transpired came to the rogue king that day after Konark had finally gotten word from the spies sent to discover what had happened.
Upon entering his presence, the guard greeted, “good day sire. I bring you the news you’d been expecting.”
“Do not waste my time,” Vulcan stated impatiently. “Tell me what happened.”
“Now we know why Sabrina could no longer be found nor heard from. She is dead sire. Killed.”
The news came as a shock, as the rogue leader yelled, “what???”
Konark nodded confidently, “yes sire. I am afraid it is true. She was killed three months ago. The spies we sent found out from the rumors circulating on dawn territories. The alpha hired a powerful sorcerer to dispose of the witches’ body completely.”
“How….? HOW DID THIS HAPPEN??? How did they manage to kill such a powerful witch?”
“The dawn pack army is so mighty sire. They are mighty in forces, but then it was with the help of Sabrina’s weakness, Lucas De’ Clan’s mate sent the witch to her grave.”
“The dawn pack is mighty indeed. It’s such a shame that I will not get what I want now that my ally has been killed, but that doesn’t mean that I will give up in my pursuit of such power.” Vulcan stated greedily. “I long for all that wealth, Konark, and now that our plans have failed, we have got to think of another way to overthrow the dawn leadership and get what we want.”
“Sire… indeed it is a dream of many… but we are too few against them. We cannot succeed on our own.”
“I have been thinking of something before you came, Konark. My mind kept telling me that Sabrina’s promises were only a fool’s pursuit, and now you have just confirmed it with this sudden news.”
“So, what do you have in mind sire?”
“I have mind to partner with someone… someone I know who can help us.”
“And who might that be, sire?”
“The moonlight alpha. You don’t know how heart shattering it was that we might have had the chance to control one of the most powerful armies, but we lost it, all for the fact that some rebellious gamma got the first-hand information faster than we did.”
Alpha Filip Kirundi, former gamma of the dawn territory. The one who exiled himself from his pack to dominate the moonlight territory, all because his leader, alpha Lucas De’ Clan refused to take the deed. Konark knows this because he was the one who informed the rogue king through planted spies.
Konark asked the question just to ensure he was hearing right, “you intend to partner with alpha Filip, sire?”
Vulcan nodded, “yes… I figured that we might use it to our advantage. He is still new on the throne and might not know plenty about what it takes to rule. We can influence him, and when we influence him, we influence his army as well.”
“This sounds like a magnificent plan sire, but are you sure he will agree to this partnership?”
“All it will take is just some sweet words Konark, we have to make him believe that we are doing it for him, rather than for us. I figured he will be the perfect candidate because he knows Lucas De’ Clan well. He was once his servant after all, and we can get some secrets from him, secrets that will assist us in conquering the dawn alpha.”
“You have it all planned out… you are truly wise, master.”
“Indeed I am. I have an aim Konark, an aim to one day dominate all the territories, and with the moonlight alpha on board, I see that aim not so far away now.”
“So, what will happen when you finally achieve this aim sire, will you still keep the moonlight alpha by your side? To rule together?”
Vulcan scowled, “you’re not so smart, are you, Konark? Of course, by then you know that I would no longer have any use for him, once we have the dawn army, we will colonize his territory as well and then the others. Nothing will stop us then.”
**********
“Yelp!!!”
Ava flinched as she felt the sharp pain strike her womb, her back hurt like hell and she couldn’t get much done today. This child would not let her rest.
“Have the kicks started again, milady?” Keisha, her assigned servant, who had just walked into the room holding a basket asked.
“Oh, Keisha… I swear, it hurts so much!!! No one told me that carrying a baby would be this hard!”
Keisha chuckled, “I’m sorry to tell you this milady… but more will come as the pregnancy gets older… your little baby is growing!”
“Yes… my baby is. I just wish he’d let his mommy rest more.”
“Let me help you with that milady,” the servant left the basket on the table as she neared Ava to help her adjust her pillows so she could sit properly on the bed. Ava then noticed the basket after she was done.
“Oh no… I hope it’s not another one???”
“I’m afraid it is, milady. Your secret admirer has sent you a new gift.”
“The guard that gave this to you… didn’t he tell you anything useful about the sender?”
Keisha shook her head, “no milady, it was brought along with the supplies and had your name on it, just like it’s always been delivered.”
“Bring it here, let me see what’s inside.”
As she was told, Keisha brought the wrapped basket to Ava who tore it open to see a small box of fruits and some latest edition romance books. This person seemed to know her taste quite well. As not long after the time she came here, she’d been receiving various gifts ranging from flowers, cards, squeaky toys, teddy bears, maternity clothes, and the likes, at least every week. This person would not stop sending her gifts, and worst of it all was that she had no clue who it was!
