The false call
She kissed him, and he kissed her back, pushing his tongue deep into her lips, tasting her mouth, she knew in the back of her mind that she was doing something wrong, but it felt like she had a force, a stronghold over herself she couldn’t control, a bigger voice in her head telling her what do and she couldn’t refuse. Why was she obeying him? Why did she not have complete control over her mind anymore? What the goddess’s name was going on? Why does it feel like as if she’s trapped in a box with no way out?
After he broke from the kiss, he took her hand,
“Now, Ava, come with me to my room, I want to make sweet love to you dear, just like how it used to be before, no one will know, it will be our little secret,” he grinned, before taking her hand to lead her out of the garden.
And like a puppet, she obeyed.
***********
Lucas didn’t sense any form of trickery or scam until he reached the supreme council court and met with the first member, who was in a meeting with one of the alphas.
“Alpha Lucas, what a pleasant surprise, might I know what you are here for?” Council member Konrad asked as he got up from where he sat with his guest and approached him.
Lucas’s brows furrowed, “I thought the council summoned me here. I received your message this afternoon,” he removed the scroll from his pocket and handed it to the council member.
Konrad analyzed the paper, and then shook his head before returning it, “someone forged this, we didn’t summon you alpha Lucas, if we did, we’d have sent Dillion over to deliver this to you personally.”
Lucas then looked back at the gamma who stood behind him, and held the scroll in front of his face.
“Gamma Kiron, where did this message come from? I thought you said messenger Dillion brought this over???”
Kiron just stared at the paper in front of him, unable to utter any words.
“Kiron!”
“I-I-I swear I don’t remember how I got the letter sire; I don’t know…”
“What do you mean you don’t know? So, you mean to tell be that the breeze just swept this paper into your hands and you came to give it to me like that? Without even bothering to confirm where it came from? What kind of gamma are you exactly?”
More silence.
Lucas slapped his hand against his forehead. “Whatever, I’ll deal with you later, I have to hurry back now; if someone wanted me away from the packhouse it could only mean that they are planning something bad in my absence, and I won’t be surprised if the rogues have anything to do with it.” He then shot Kiron a threatening glare, “trust me when I say you’ve not been spared. I’ll get to the bottom of this, and if I find out that you betrayed me in any way, I won’t just strip you off your duty as a gamma, I’ll rip your heart out as well.”
“Sire…” he didn’t wait for Kiron to respond before he stormed out of the court in a rage.
**********
Lucas arrived back at the packhouse with the gamma after about an hour’s drive, he still found it hard to believe that he’d spent all that time going there only to find out it was a con to lure him out of his territory, he should have seen it coming; what surprised him the most was the way he was so eager to heed to the call after seeing the message, like the letter had some kind of charm attached to it.
He’d already driven through the border and entered the territory, through the gates of the packhouse, to his quarters and into his bedroom, he’d entered and removed his cloak before sending for Kain.
“Yes master!” The guard answered the call.
“Send for Beta Cian, I need reports on what happened here when I was absent.”
Kain bowed, “right away master.”
It didn’t take long after Kain left before he heard a knock on the door. He went over to open it and was surprised to see Sabrina standing in front of his door, her eyes reddened with tears.
“Sabrina? What’s the matter? Why are you crying?”
Sniffs, “the most terrible thing has happened alpha Lucas, its so sad and heartbreaking to do this, but I feel you deserve to know as much as I do.”
“What is it, Sabrina?”
She shook her head, “no… it’s not something I can open my mouth to say, I think its better if you come and see it for yourself.”
He doesn’t have time for this; whatever scheme Sabrina was trying to pull up, he has more urgent matters to attend to, but then at that moment, curiosity got the better part of him.
Sabrina turned, walking away, “follow me, alpha Lucas.”
Cian and Kain hadn’t come yet, he still had a few minutes to spare before they did. He’ll just quickly go and see whatever Sabrina wants to show him before coming right back here, it shouldn’t take too much time.
He began to follow her to the lower quarters, before reaching her room, he was skeptical about entering Sabrina’s room at first, but when she held the door wide open, standing outside, he knew then that the only thing she intended was for him to see what was going on inside.
**********
Ray had taken off her clothes, and his too, and then he now lay atop her on the bed, she couldn’t control anything that was going on, all she saw was herself obeying his every will and desire, he was kissing her on the bed, stroking her in all the places only Lucas had visited. Her heart cried on the inside as she lay there helpless beneath him. Ray was then about to penetrate her when they both heard the door to Sabrina’s room open, and her heart shattered when the least of whom they both expected to see entered inside; Lucas De’ Clan, her mate, his eyes bloody and filled with anger.
