The moment Ji Yan woke up, there was no trace of Shang Jinshen in the room. She rubbed her forehead, sat up, and tidied up her clothes before going out.
Lan Si was leaning against the door and chatting with Smith. Seeing her walking out, Lan Si went up to her and said, “Madam Ji Yan, Mr. Shang has instructed me to send you back to Shang family to rest.”
Ji Yan nodded and Smith went into his room to take out a tube of ointment. He handed it to her and said “Take off the gauze two days later and apply this ointment three times daily. Otherwise, it will leave a scar.”
She thanked him and took the ointment. No girl could accept having a scar on their face, not even Ji Yan.
Lan Si waved goodbye at Smith and drove Ji Yan home.
Madam Zhang rushed out as soon as she heard the sound of the car pulling over. She was relieved when she saw that Ji Yan was not injured anywhere else except for her forehead.
Ji Yan smiled at Madam Zhang. Knowing that her mother-in-law was still waiting for her in the living room, she summoned up the courage and went in as the most difficult thing was being accepted by Mrs. Shang.
Mrs. Shang sat cross-legged on the sofa, sipping her tea in a dignified and elegant manner. She looked at Ji Yan from the corner of her eyes and said in a strange tone, “Yo, are you coming back as a chaste girl or an impure being?”
Mrs. Shang was straight to the point with an undisguised sarcasm. Ji Yan’s eyes were tinged with a hint of anger. She lowered her head and said lightly, “Don’t worry, Mrs. Shang. Nothing happened.”
Mrs. Shang sneered and looked at Ji Yan with a sharp look. “You are lucky. If others were to encounter this kind of thing, they can hardly survive.”
If she was so lucky, how could such a thing happen to her? Ji Yan closed her eyes and did not speak.
Mrs. Shang clinked her cup and angrily said, “Madam Zhang, take Madam Ji Yan to do a body checkup. Our family does not accept indecent daughters-in-law!”
Madam Zhang was stunned. Ji Yan looked at Mrs. Shang blankly. This was a huge humiliation to her. Why did she need to do a test to prove her innocence?
She was already very unlucky to be kidnapped. Now, she had to be questioned and humiliated when she came back. She felt extremely unhappy and clenched her hands while standing still.
“What’s wrong? Do you feel guilty? Ji Yan, what’s that look for?” Mrs. Shang swept the cup in front of her and smashed it all over the floor. “If you don’t want to undergo a checkup, you can kneel on these broken glasses to prove yourself.”
Ji Yan looked at the debris all over the floor. Just like her heart, it was fragmented. To kneel or to be checked was also a humiliation. But what else could she say? What else could she do?
By kneeling down, it was hard to guarantee that in the future, Han Xiulan would not find fault with her and say that she had lost her chastity. Hence, kneeling down to a scum would seem like she was covering up the fact that she was not clean.
Ji Yan laughed coldly as she looked at Han Xiulan. Word for word, she said, “Very well. Mrs. Shang, do you want to personally check your daughter-in-law’s innocence?”
Mrs. Shang was stunned and then was burning with anger. She was about to lose her temper.
Lan Si couldn’t stand it anymore. He stepped forward and spoke up, “Mrs. Shang, Madam Ji Yan was not insulted by the bad guys.”
Ji Yan glanced at Lan Si and couldn’t understand why he spoke up for her. That was because, in her eyes, Shang Jinshen and his mother were the same. If it hadn’t been for Shang Jinshen who saw it with his own eyes last night, he wouldn’t have believed that she was innocent.
She turned her head away and didn’t want to think about it anymore.
When Mrs. Shang saw Lan Si open his mouth, she naturally knew that Ji Yan was fine. She was just using it as an excuse to find fault. She could not trust Ji Yan, but she had to trust her own son. Now that she had nothing to argue, she impatiently waved her hand. “Don’t stand here and be an eyesore.”
“Madam Ji Yan, Mr. Shang instructed you to have a good rest,” Lan Si followed.
Ji Yan nodded to him and let Madam Zhang help her upstairs to rest. Mrs. Shang sat back on the sofa and said to Lan Si leisurely, “Lan Si, go back and tell Jinshen not to protect this stupid girl in the future. She will be kicked out when she does something wrong. Such a powerless daughter-in-law is not worthy of my son.”
It turned out that Mrs. Shang had never put down the thoughts of tearing apart Ji Yan and Shang Jinshen. In her opinion, how could a daughter-in-law like Ji Yan be worthy of the Shang Jinshen? Divorce would happen sooner or later. By then, she could find a woman with money and power who could help her son.
Lan Si turned around and left. Deep down, he did not agree with Mrs. Shang’s heartless words. However, as a mere assistant, he did not have the right to speak.
After returning to the Shang Corp., Lan Si reported everything that had happened to Shang Jinshen. It was detailed, and there was an imperceptible bias towards Ji Yan in his speech.
Shang Jinshen looked at him with a faint smile. When he heard that his mother insulted Ji Yan with the examination, he just sneered.
“She’s tough.” Shang Jinshen waved his hand and asked Lan Si to leave, thinking of the look Ji Yan had on her face when she confronted her mother.
Her personality indicated that she was not suitable to be living in a rich family. It was as if he had kept a small wild cat in a magnificent cage.
But so what? As long as he wanted, she would never be able to escape. After all, she was the one who had walked into the cage.
Shang Jinshen touched his chin and looked out of the window at the dark clouds. Even for pets, if they belonged to him, then only he could bully them.
Ji Gui, dared to cross his bottom line to attack his pet, then she should be aware of the consequences. A dangerous icy light flashed in Shang Jinshen’s deep eyes.
Ji Yan was lying in the guest room eating the food that Madam Zhang had prepared to replenish her strength. Although she was currently fine, she was still anxious about what would happen in the future.
It wasn’t that she hadn’t experienced kidnapping before. When she was a child, she was taken as a hostage by others to threaten the Ji family. But at that time, she was young, so the kidnapper naturally did not have any dirty thoughts. At most, they had only scared her.
But this time was different. She even felt that if Shang Jinshen hadn’t arrived in time, it was possible that she would have been r*ped and killed when she lost consciousness. So, she really appreciated Shang Jinshen’s help.
Ji Yan sighed. Suddenly, she remembered the memory card she took out from the camera. Ji Yan looked around anxiously for it. She knew she could find out who wanted to hurt her by having that footage. Ji Yan looked through the entire guest room and clothes but did not see the memory card. She could not help but be depressed. Was it lost when she lose consciousness?
“Who on earth did this to her? Or was it purely the intention of the kidnappers?” Ji Yan shook her head as she did not think that her looks would move others to have the motive to commit such a crime.
Her head ached again, probably because she thought too hard about it. Ji Yan stood up and lay back on the bed.
She did not want to think about it and wanted to just recover first. She fell asleep after putting the thoughts away.
In the evening, Shang Jinshen came back and saw Ji Yan wearing a warm yellow sweater standing outside to welcome him home. Except for the eye-catching bandage on her head, the sight was sweet and warm.
However, Shang Jinshen was still frowning. Why didn’t this stupid woman have a good rest? Why was she still running around? Did she think her injuries weren’t serious enough?
