Book:Ex-husband, Let Me Go Published:2024-6-2

When Shang Jinshen came to see Smith with Ji Yan in his arms, Smith pushed the gold-rimmed glasses he was wearing and looked at the wound on Ji Yan’s forehead carefully. He asked in a serious tone, “What happened?”
Smith looked suspiciously at Shang Jinshen. “It can’t be that you’re the one who tortured her right?”
Shang Jinshen didn’t bother to explain. He waved his hand impatiently and said, “Treat her.”
Smith stopped his questioning. He asked Shang Jinshen to put Ji Yan on the bed of his consulting room. He breathed a sigh of relief after checking her carefully. He said to Shang Jinshen who was looking at him with a confused look on his face, “There are no other wounds found on her body and fortunately, the injury on her forehead is not serious. But what is in her hand?”
Smith pulled out a black memory card from Ji Yan’s tight grip out of curiosity. He glanced at the memory card and voiced his confusion, “A memory card?”
Shang Jinshen took the memory card from Smith’s hand, and his eyes became darker. He turned around and walked out. “Bandage up her wound.”
Smith smiled and began to seriously treat Ji Yan’s forehead injury.
Shang Jinshen looked at the contents in the memory card with no expression. Only those who knew him well knew that the calmer Shang Jinshen was, the more ruthless he was.
He endured his anger as he watched Lao Hei’s disgusting smile as he touched Ji Yan. Even if he did not like Ji Yan, she still belonged to him. So he could not tolerate those that violated her! Lao Hei obviously crossed the line!
Shang Jinshen narrowed his eyes and listened carefully to the phone call Lao Hei had. The more he listened, the stiffer his face became.
It seemed that the reason Lao Hei kidnapped her was under someone else’s orders. Shang Jinshen was thinking about who was on the other side of the phone as the voice sounded familiar.
Lao Hei originally planned to record it to threaten her as he was afraid that the woman would go back on her words and not give him the money.
Unfortunately, the memory card was snatched back by Ji Yan smartly and it has now become the reason for revenge.
Shang Jinshen held the memory card in his hand and wanted to compliment Ji Yan, who had always been regarded as a stupid woman by him.
He used to think that if something bad were to happen, Ji Yan would likely not be able to escape. He did not expect that she would be so tenacious to fight and protect himself. She even remembered to take back the evidence.
“Seems like this woman is not so stupid. She is like a drunken wild cat. If someone bullies her, she will definitely take her revenge.”
An inexplicable smile appeared in Shang Jinshen’s eyes. He turned back and saw Ji Yan lying peacefully on the hospital bed with gauze wrapped on her forehead, his expression softened.
Smith cried out in disbelief and stood in front of Shang Jinshen to study his expression as if he was looking at a rare national treasure. Although he had known Shang Jinshen for so long, he had never seen such a gentle and harmless side of him.
Lan Si walked in and saw Smith doing something ridiculous in front of Mr. Shang. The corner of his mouth twitched as he was surprised that Smith could be so reckless.
As expected, Smith was punched by Mr. Shang’s cold, hard fist the next second. Smith was howling while covering his face.
Shang Jinshen looked at Lan Si wordlessly. Lan Si coughed and said, “His name is Lao Hei. He’s from a low-class martial arts school in the underground black market. He was ordered by someone to kidnap Madam Ji Yan.”
“Have you found out who it is?”
Lan Si took a look at Madam Ji Yan and said in a low voice, “Ji Gui.”
Ji Gui? Ji Yan’s sister? Shang Jinshen snorted coldly. No wonder the voice in the video was kind of familiar. Ji Yan had a very good sister.
“Mr. Shang, Madam Ji Yan seems to have had a hard time over the years in the Ji family.” Lan Si spoke hesitantly. He did not know if Mr. Shang would feel a shred of pity for her when he heard this.
Shang Jinshen didn’t have any reaction upon hearing that. Lan Si touched his nose and dragged Smith out.
The night was cold. The woman lying on the hospital bed frowned. Shang Jinshen raised his hand and pulled the blanket over her.
“Don’t! You b*stard!” She anxiously threw out a small fist and the blanket slipped down again.
……
Shang Jinshen suppressed his anger and covered her again. Her reaction reminded him of her actions when she was drunk. She had a charming and naive appearance.
Later, in the middle of the night, Ji Yan struggled and woke up.
The sharp pain on her forehead made her gasp out loud. Her mind was in a mess and she felt a little confused when she looked at the unfamiliar surroundings. Then, fear welled up in her heart.
Where was she? What happened after she fainted? Did the bad guys succeed? Ji Yan put her arms around her body to protect herself.
Shang Jinshen then came in. It was his first time seeing her being so delicate and helpless. Ji Yan had always put up a strong image in front of him. Even when she was being obedient, she would still pretend and not show her true feelings.
“You’re awake?”
Ji Yan looked up and saw Shang Jinshen. She thought that she was seeing things, so she reached out to rub her eyes. Was it really Shang Jinshen?
She pushed the blanket away, jumped out of bed barefooted, and went into Shang Jinshen’s arms as if she was seeking dependence. Instantly, her slender arms tightly wrapped around his neck.
Smelling the familiar domineering smell, she gradually felt at ease. Shang Jinshen’s lower body felt stiff because of the sudden hug.
Shang Jinshen’s face was cold, but he didn’t push her away. Instead, he felt the soft and slightly trembling body in his arms.
After some time, she slowly raised her head and looked at him with serious and clear eyes. “Jinshen, did you save me?”
Shang Jinshen instantly restored his cold look and glanced at her. “I didn’t expect you to be so cruel. You kicked him so hard that he is disabled.” He heard Lan Si say that Madam Ji Yan’s kick was strong. Thinking of the fear Lan Si had on his face, Shang Jinshen also unconsciously wanted to close his legs tightly.
Ji Yan blushed when she heard this. She buried her head in Shang Jinshen’s neck and said with some embarrassment, “He deserved it because he…” Thinking of the man’s disgusting big yellow teeth, mouth and face, Ji Yan felt very sick.
Shang Jinshen was a little stunned. He was surprised by Ji Yan’s intimacy with him. Ji Yan had tried to please him, but she had never been this close to him. However, Shang Jinshen did not know that Ji Yan treated him like that because she felt that it was safest to hold him tightly.
“Well, Shang Jinshen, I’m not… I wasn’t…” She was afraid that Shang Jinshen thought she had been insulted. She did not mind leaving Shang family, but definitely not for this reason.
She thought Shang Jinshen would not believe her, so she didn’t expect him to easily answer. “Yes.” Ji Yan looked at Shang Jinshen strangely. Was it an illusion? She actually felt that he was being very gentle.
But nevertheless, Ji Yan was relieved. Lying in Shang Jinshen’s arms, she fell asleep safely.
Shang Jinshen didn’t move, and he could feel her breathing next to his ear. After a long time, he placed her onto the bed, turned around, and left in the dark night.
