Nicole looked around when she woke up again, Rafael wasn’t by her side anymore, she looked to where Natalie was seated with Aron by her side, they were talking in whispers, she had told him to go and not return until he has gotten enough rest, he didn’t want to leave so she had yelled at him to get out of her presence, it was harsh but she needed him to take care of himself too, she didn’t want him to be careless with his health, he had surgery and he wasn’t taking care of himself, imagine how scared she had been when all she wanted was to playfully hit him yet she ended up hurting him, the look of pain in his eyes had sent a shiver of fear down her body, she expected to see him again at least before she went to sleep last night but he hadn’t shown up, when she woke up this morning, she had looked around for him too, she knew she told him to rest and he needed it but she had things to tell him, it was almost afternoon and he still wasn’t back.
“Nicole, you are awake,”
Natalie said as they both turned to her.
“Yes, how are you feeling?”
She asked, still looking around, trying to figure out which hospital they were in, she knew their parents came earlier but she had been much too tired to open her eyes and talk with them, she heard them talking to Natalie and them telling her they will be back later today.
“Are you looking for Rafael?”
Natalie asked.
“No, not really,”
“It looks like you are though,”
Aron said leaving Natalie’s side to come to her.
“I am not looking for him, okay,”
“Nicole, I am your friend and I think you are doing too much, honestly, if I were Rafael, I would go away and let you regret letting me go,”
Aron said.
“What do you mean by that?”
“Are you really asking me? I was with the man throughout the times you guys were away and he was worried sick, blaming himself for something that might I say wasn’t his fault and he did the most, going to different lengths to get you guys to be free and what more he got shot in the process but the first time you see him after all these, you are blaming him too and telling him to leave? That’s doing too much Nicole,”
Aron said, he looked angry, he had walked in on her telling Rafael to leave yesterday and might have read what happened wrongly, this was the first time Aron was talking to her in this manner.
“I agree with you Aron, she is doing too much and I use to think I am the bad twin, Nicole, you are doing too much and you might regret it, we talked about this remember?”
“Yes, I remember, I didn’t tell Rafael to leave because I wanted him to leave me, I told him to leave because he was refusing to look after himself while worrying about me, he is the one that got shot yet he is not staying in bed, he had surgery and he wasn’t staying in one place, he is not taking his drugs, I am sorry if you think making the man I love to take care of himself is me doing too much,”
She let out, they both kept quiet looking at her, what did they expect that after everything she would still tell Rafael to go away? She loves the damn man, why would she send him away.
“I thought you told him to go away, that’s what I heard when I came in and you were so harsh,”
Aron said scratching his head in confusion.
“That’s because you only heard the last part of the conversation, I only told him to leave to get a rest but he was being stubborn that’s why I yelled,”
“Oh, my, I am sorry, I should have asked but I just assumed, sorry Nicole,”
“No it’s fine, I should go find him and talk to him, I don’t know if he misunderstood too, maybe that’s why he is not coming back,”
She said getting off the bed, she still felt a little light-headed but overall she was doing fine, she was almost at the door when the doctor who has been checking up on them showed up, she had to go back to her bed and let the doctor examine her.
“Are you feeling any form of weakness or whatever?”
The doctor asked, she shook her head, she was fine, she just needed to speak with Rafael and tell him how much she loves him and also about little, the most amazing part of everything was that despite the turbulence, little was perfectly okay, when she had first woke up the night they got here, that was the first thing she asked and the doctor had assured her that her baby was fine, she had fallen asleep again after that and didn’t wake up until yesterday morning when Rafael had shown up.
“That’s good, you might be discharged tomorrow, both of you,”
The doctor said smiling as she moved over to Natalie.
“Doc, do you know where my husband is?”
She asked, she wasn’t sure if the doctor knew who she was talking about.
“Yes but he left a while ago, I think he got discharged or something, I am not the doctor working with him so I don’t know, I saw him leaving the hospital about a couple of hours ago, in the early hours of today,”
The doctor revealed.
“Can I go now doc?”
She asked as she got off the bed without waiting for the doctor’s reply, she walked fast towards the reception nurse.
“Please do you know what room Rafael Salvador is and if he was discharged?”
She asked.
“Yes, room 302 but he left, anything?”
“Nothing, thanks,”
She said walking towards the wards, she looked up at each room until she saw the one he was supposed to be in, when she opened the door, it was empty, she frowned and left, maybe he was discharged, he didn’t bother to come to see her before he left, did he really misunderstand what she had said? She needed to talk to him, she wanted to leave the hospital to go look for him, but she was scared to go out on her own, she didn’t know anything about what happened after she passed out and didn’t want to endanger her life anymore.
