Chapter 172

Book:The Billionaire's Bartered Bride Published:2024-6-2

“Natalie? Was there a blackout? Why is it so dark in here?”
Nicole let out trying to look past her fear, Natalie told her to meet her here but the whole place was already so dark even though it was still pretty bright outside it was only a few minutes past seven pm, why will Natalie ask her to come here when she won’t be here? Initially, she had thought she wanted her to come to pick her but when she got to the complex, no one was in sight, she should have called Natalie before she got out of her car, she didn’t expect the inside to be this dark and empty, the last time they had come here, there had been a few people here.
She brought out her phone and dialed Natalie’s number, it rang and went to voicemail.
“Now she isn’t taking her calls, why ask her to meet here when they can meet at home, she wasn’t in a good mood, hasn’t been in a good mood since morning, in fact, she hasn’t been in a good mood since the fight with Rafael on Saturday, he left and didn’t come back, she didn’t call him either even when Natalie had told her to, she just didn’t know how to talk to him after the way she acted, he was only looking out for her and she shouldn’t have acted the way she did.
Grace had called on Saturday and they had a long talk and Grace had advised her to go talk to him, the same thing her parents had told her but she didn’t listen, she was doing more harm to herself than she could imagine but it wasn’t because she wanted to but it was because she was scared, scared that he might not want her again, scared that she might have succeeded in pushing him away from her.
“Just call him,”
The voice in her head whispered, she knew she would have to call him, she still needed to tell him about little, she had passed by his workplace today and had wanted to stop by and see him but she hadn’t done that, instead she had driven right past it. She stood looking around for a few more minutes, it was getting dark at this point, and still no sight of Natalie, and her phone wasn’t going through either.
The complex was new, not all that new but they just newly reconstructed it and there were no sellers yet and Natalie’s boutique would be here, she has come here with her before so that’s why Natalie had texted her she had driven directly here and now her twin was nowhere to be seen.
“I should just go home,”
She said out loud as she walked out of the complex and towards where she parked her car, she noticed a movement to her right, looked around but there was no one in sight, must be a stray cat, she thought as she continued walking towards her car, the light on the complex went on and she looked back at it, would Natalie be in there? It doesn’t look like anyone was there but the light did come on, but her mind told her to get in the car and drive off, she decided to go back and call out her sister’s name again, she was halfway there when a man came out of the deal part and stood in front of her.
“Good evening,”
She greeted even though she was rooted with fear, she didn’t want him to see her fear, she looked around for anyone else but there was no one in sight.
“I have been waiting for you since forever, you sure took your time getting here,”
The man said.
“Please do I know you? I am here because of my sister,”
“Yes, you know me, I mean not personally but I am assuming you got my text right?”
“What text are you talking about? I don’t know who you are, I got a text from my sister and I am here for her,”
“Aha, well you met me so let’s get going,”
The man said.
“Going? Go where? I am not going anywhere with you, I think I might have come to the wrong place if you will excuse me,”
She replied and turned around walking faster towards her car before she could get to her car, another man showed up in front of her, she yelled and ran in the opposite direction.
“Get her, fast, don’t let her get away,”
She heard the older man say and she ran towards the main road living her car behind, it wasn’t that late but there was nobody in sight, it was as if everyone suddenly deserted the area.
Nicole ran as fast as she could to look for someone to help her but there was no one in sight, she regretted not getting into her car when she sensed a funny movement now she was stuck here, how was she going to escape whoever it was that was after her? She should never have left the house, should have known Natalie won’t call her out to somewhere like this, she has been stupid and this was what she gets for being stupid, she made a turn and came face to face with the person she had been running from, she turned to run the other way but as stopped by another man with a gun, she had nowhere to run to.
“You should get into the car nicely, your sister is waiting for you at the warehouse, you want her to be alone right?”
Natalie, they had Natalie even if she thought of running which was impossible by the way, except she wants to die, she couldn’t leave Natalie to suffer alone, so she followed the men into the waiting car, it did cross her mind that they might not have Natalie and they were just saying it to get her in.
“Good girl, now be nice and quiet as we go on our way, any wrong move might not end well with you or your sister, do you understand me?”
The much older looking of the two men asked, she nodded out of fear and the car started and zoomed out of the complex, what had she been thinking coming out here? Why did Natalie want them to meet here of all places? God help them, she didn’t know what awaited them.
They drop for over an hour, then the car stopped and the two men were talking to themselves she looked around trying to master her surrounding, she knew where they were, she tried to reach for her phone where the man who took it from her had kept it but they turned and looked back in the car.
“Okay, Missy, you are going to ride the rest of the way to where we are going blindfolded, we are not going to take any chances,”
The older man said and came to where she Sault and blindfolded her even when she struggled, being tied was bad enough but getting blindfolded was worst.
“Where are you taking me to? Why are you doing this?”
She asked but she was ignored as the car continued she didn’t know what awaited her, God, she was so scared, not just for herself but for little too, she didn’t want her baby to be in danger too, if only she hadn’t been so stubborn, this wouldn’t have happened, it was her fault, she felt her eyes watered behind the blindfold, Rafael, he knew what was going to happen and took measures to prevent it but she had told him to leave and not return, and she hadn’t bothered to take her own security, she should have taken some measures but she didn’t.
“This is all my fault,”
She whispered to herself praying that whatever happens that both her twin and her baby will be fine, she couldn’t think of losing another child, she would die if anything happens to little, the voice in her head was silent, at a time she needed some encouragement, it was silent, she sat there at the back of the car as it sped off in the distance, what her fate will be was unknown to her…
