“I know her, I met her before in New York,”
Nicole revealed staring blankly at the paper.
“Really? You guys know each other?”
“Not really, I saw them together in New York, she was his date to Lucas’s party,”
“Oh, then why did he have a problem with you having Aron as a date if he also have someone with him too? That’s double standards, oh, I remember now, you told me about it but I didn’t think he was really dating her, now this is rubbish because he expects you to stay single while he moves on, I just don’t understand men,”
Grace lamented. Nicole let out a sad sigh, she should do well to get used to it.
“Hey, Nicole, are you okay? I shouldn’t have shown these to you, I am sorry,”
Grace said in a low voice, Nicole shook her head, it was okay that she showed her, she already told herself she will move on and besides she saw him with the lady already in New York, it shouldn’t be a surprise, good for him to start a new life, it was just the way things should be, of course, it hurt to see him move on to someone else but that was inevitable, she didn’t expect him to be a loner again.
“No it’s fine Grace, yes I feel some kind of hurt but that’s just because it will take a while for my feelings for him to go away completely but I am working on it, for now, I am just going to focus on being happy, it’s my birthday, I shouldn’t be sad and besides, I am going to meet my twin today, I hope I can get to talk to her,”
Nicole said that was what she was looking forward to the most about this whole thing, meeting and talking with Natalie.
“I am glad you are okay, by the way, you look so beautiful,”
“Thanks, Grace, for everything and also for helping with today,”
“Woman, I am your friend, that’s what friends do for each other,”
“Still thank you,”
“Aron, is your date today right?”
“Yes, Grace, I know you don’t like him but..”
“No it’s fine, maybe I misjudged, I am ready to give him the benefit of doubt since you seem to like him a lot,”
Grace said, fixing her hair.
“I like him Grace, but just as a friend nothing more and he had helped me a lot,”
“I know, I just hope I am mistaking because even though you see him as just a friend, it would hurt still if he turns out not to be a good person like you think,”
“I hope that’s not the case,”
“Sure, now enough of the sad talks, it’s your birthday girl and there are a lot of people waiting to see you, you know you are a much bigger celebrity right now? Do you know how shocked and impressed I was when you told me you signed a deal and how proud I was to finally be able to tell my coursemates that I know their favorite artist even my flatmates suddenly want to be close to me and they talk to me first?”
Grace said with much excitement, Nicole only laughed, her number one fan was her best friend and that made it a little easier to do all these things.
“Have you seen your sister? She arrived a few moments ago, she looks everything like you but she is blonde and looks a little tinier than you,”
“Really? Natalie is here? I was starting to think she won’t show up,”
Nicole said her mood lighting up, she had thought Natalie won’t come around, when she asked her parents the day before yesterday, they told her they weren’t sure as Natalie hadn’t given them a direct answer when she didn’t show up yesterday, she had thought maybe she wasn’t ready yet but hearing that she was around made her so happy, they have never celebrated their birthday apartment and it would have hurt if they did now.
“Yes, Oh here she is,”
Grace said as Natalie walked into her room.
“Natalie,”
She whispered her twin’s name, this was the first time they were meeting face to face since after the incident, her sister looked so different, she ran to hug her, she expected Natalie not to hug her back but she did.
“I missed you so much, Natalie,”
“I don’t think that’s the case,”
“It is,”
She said, tears were threatening to come out of her eyes but she held them back, she couldn’t ruin her make-up, it took the makeup artist a lot of effort to do it.
“Shall we go? They are waiting for us,”
Her sister said, she could still feel the arkwardness between them and wondered if they can ever get a little of what they had before back, she hoped so, wished that it will happen, she missed sharing her thoughts with Natalie and vowed to do anything and everything so that they can get back their twin bond, the whole ceremony went on successfully, again her parents were known to throw successful party and she wasn’t surprised, her parents got her and her twin a new car each, learning how to drive had been easier than she thought and she already got her license even though she still depend on her driver a lot, after the party was over, she had hope to talk with Natalie but when she went to her room, she wasn’t there and when she asked her mom, she was told Natalie left and would be back before Christmas, Nicole knew the next couple of weeks would be very busy for her work the the opening of her hotel getting close, she has waited enough and also there is the exhibition that she had to host for Aron, at this rate she might move the opening of the hotel to January but she didn’t want to as it would be good for a start of she opens in December so she was going to try and make that possible.
“You are going to be very busy next year Nicole,”
She told herself as she went to sleep that night…
