Rafael took a big gulp of his drink, looking around the clubhouse that has been his regular place for the past three days, he comes here, drink to the point that he couldn’t remember his pain, and go sleep it off at the penthouse where he has been staying for almost two weeks now, he couldn’t deny that his life has been a mess since everything that happened.
“Come on Rafael, not today again, at this rate one of those people that stalk you might see you like this and you know that won’t be good for you,”
His best friend Caleb who had been his drinking buddy and the one who made sure he got home, said collecting his glass from him
“What’s there again? They know everything about me, this is nothing compared to what they already know,”
He said collecting his drink back, there wasn’t a thing about him that wasn’t public, okay except the divorce that was coming, they didn’t know yet because he hasn’t sent the papers, every other thing, the whole of Florida and neighboring state and might as well say the whole world knew, the marrying the wrong twin, to the twin fighting and one almost dying and Jim arresting the other to the other twin waking up and insisting her sister didn’t do anything and dropping the charges he made against her to him moving out of their home and not showing up at the hospital, everyone knew.
Every day there was something about him on the net, everyday people used him as fun and entertainment, it didn’t help that he couldn’t get anything done, didn’t help either that he didn’t feel the use to correct them or say anything when they talked about him, he was going through too much pain to give a fuck about what they say, at least they were all talking about him and not Nicole, at least they weren’t being mean to her, he could take it all, he was already used to being criticized, but she wasn’t, God, she had looked so down the last time he saw her, he felt shitty for leaving her there crying and begging him to come back, she didn’t deserve to be treated the way he did but it was for the best.
“Man, seriously, you know the cause of this, you know why you are like this and you still want to end things with her? Come on, you should rethink this, I still feel a divorce is not the best solution here, heck, looking at you right now, I don’t think it’s a solution at all, you were the guy that was never cut un-fresh but the photos on the net this morning was all shade of no for you,”
Caleb said, the dude was against him leaving Nicole and had said it every opportunity he got bit he knew he wasn’t going to change his mind, his mind was already made up, he couldn’t be with her if he can’t look past what happened.
“Caleb, a divorce is what I need, I have to walk out while I still can and this pain I am feeling will only last for a while but I don’t think I can ever forgive her,”
“You say the pains will end and you think your heart won’t forgive? Really, Rafael you give yourself too much stress, I still feel it would have been better if you guys are together and go through this as a couple, your wife is going through hell right now,”
“She will be fine, she got people around her who care about her,”
“Yeah, right, you think you are feeling pains? Then think about her feeling four times as much more pain than you are feeling right now, think about it, she is the real loser here, she lost both her child, her husband and a huge chunk of her reputation were damaged too, just think about the emotional pains she is going through right now, and if you add the physical one then you will know that letting her suffer all these alone is just selfish of you,”
Caleb accused, Rafael ignored him and drank from his glass of beer again, yeah right, she wasn’t feeling good too, he knew that but he was saving them both from long term suffering, it was better they both suffer separately now and get over each other than stay together and end up hating each other, he already knew it will come to that, she might not see reasons with him now but later, she will and she will thank him for it.
“Dude, why would you divorce a woman you can’t live without? It’s obvious you can’t, of the divorce is finalized, then it going to get worst, bro I don’t know I still feel you have time to rethink this, I mean you have the papers with you all these while and you aren’t sending it to her, that should say a lot and make you just not send it anyway.”
“I am getting the divorce Caleb, I am not backing out, yes, I am taking my time, yes I don’t want it to happen too but it’s unavoidable, I can’t look past what happened Caleb, you should know that already, Nicole, I love her and would do anything for her but the one time I wanted her to do something for me, she didn’t, it hurt, it hurt to see Natalie back living as if nothing happened when my child fired when the woman I love almost died, I can’t be with Nicole because she reminds me of Natalie, not just that because she made the wrong choice,”
Rafael replied bitterly, there was no going behind this, he shouldn’t even be talking about it, it was making him feel worst, this wasn’t his it was supposed to be, they were supposed to be together, welcome their baby in the early months of next year and live happily together, he was supposed to finally have the family he never had growing up.
“Rafael, listen to yourself talk, listen to everything you just said, you are making the wrong move here man, divorce isn’t the solution if you guys love each other, you say love isn’t enough? Gush, Rafael it’s not everybody that gets the chance to find love like you did, it’s not everyone that gets the one meant for them and you know that’s what Nicole is to you if you let her go, would you ever find someone else?”
“I don’t know yet Caleb, I don’t want to think about it,”
“Don’t make the same mistake I did man, I swear you will regret it like I am doing right now,”
Caleb said, okay even in his pain Rafael couldn’t help the shock that registered in his face, he never knew Caleb had a serious relationship not to talk of bringing heartbreak or making a mistake.
“Care to share?”
He asked dropping his glass of beer, he wanted to hear Caleb’s story maybe that will give him an insight on what he was supposed to do and also keep his mind off his own case.
“This is not about me, mine is in the past, I can’t fix it, you still have a chance to,”
“But I wanna hear it, I didn’t even know you are capable of falling in love not to talk of taking someone seriously,”
“Are you for real? You are the one I should be saying that to, imagine how it felt like knowing you were going to be married, and also when you told me you were in love for the first time, I legitly thought I dreamt it, and also I almost asked her to marry me,”
Caleb said, he had valid point with what he said, Rafael hadn’t been the commitment type too until he meant Natalie and had wanted to marry her for those lands, which lead him to meet Nicole who became the woman to make him commit, now he couldn’t even be with her.
