The next couple of days went by uneventful, Nicole finally got used to having Natalie around even though Natalie barely talked to her or anyone, she hasn’t been able to go out of the house and hadn’t visited her parents but she knew she had to, Natalie and her needed to talk, that’s why she decided to go see her sister today after her husband leaves for work.
“Babe, I am off, I will see you later,”
Rafael said coming over to give her a goodbye kiss.
“I am going to see my sister,”
“Alright, just be back before dinner, I have something for you,”
“Wow, another surprise? I am all for surprises,”
She yelped cheerfully, she didn’t like surprises until Rafael, she trusted him to always wow her with his surprises.
“Yup, see you later my love,”
“You too,”
Her husband responded, she saw him to the car before she went back into the house, she was almost done with her risk period, just three more weeks and she would be in a safe zone and she couldn’t wait, every day she stands in front of the mirror to check how far she has grown, so far, there wasn’t any visible change but she knew that there will be soon and she was excited about it.
“Let’s go see our aunty,”
She told her little one as she got dressed, she had an appointment with the doctor the next day and they were going together, she and Rafael, she couldn’t wait for her husband to meet their baby official as they were having a scan together.
Nicole decided to stop by the way to get Natalie’s favorite cake as a present for her, she hoped her sister will finally talk to her today, even after meeting up with her husband, Natalie still wasn’t talking to her, she knew her parents were out of town so it was just going to be just her Natalie and the staffs, she hoped she can resolve things with her twin that way her happiness can be complete.
“Fuck, I didn’t think of the possibility of her not being at home,”
She said to herself as the driver dropped her at her parent’s place, Rafael had gotten her her personal driver and had warned her not to take cabs again, she agreed because he had been cute even while warning her.
“I will call you to come to pick me up when I am ready to leave, I don’t know how long I will be here so don’t wait up, okay?”
She told the driver who nodded and drove off, she made her way into her parent’s house and her childhood home, now that she and her parents were on good terms, it made her see the little things that she has never seen when she was blinded by resentment towards her parents, she was greeted by the staffs when she entered, she looked around for a face she hasn’t seen in a while.
“Excuse me? Have you heard from Ina? I haven’t seen her in a while,”
She asked one of the staff.
“Yes, ma, Ina went back to school and she is fine, the boss gave her the chance of coming to work during holidays, so by the holidays she will be around,”
She responded, that made sense and Ina was a smart girl, Nicole smiled happy that she choose to do something good for herself.
“Aha, that’s good thanks, where is my sister?”
“The ma’am is in the garden tending to the flowers,”
“Oh, please tell her I am around okay?”
“Sure ma’am,”
“No, no ma’am, the name is Nicole, okay?”
“Ma? I thought you are Natalie and the one who just came back is Nicole?”
The staff asked and Nicole realized she had said the wrong thing, how would she correct this without sounding stupid? She didn’t know so she just walked away, going towards her old room, she opened the door to the room she lived in for Twenty-six years, everything was still the way she had left it the last time she came she hadn’t been there, she looked around her old room before closing the door and walking towards Natalie’s room, then she remembered the staff had said she was in the garden, she walked back downstairs into the opening that leads to their huge garden, her family’s garden was another place that had been her favorite hiding spot, it was filled with various varieties of flowers, raging from petunias, alyssum, marigolds, cosmos, impatiens, zinnias, sunflowers, and others, she knew all the varieties of flowers because she spent time checking them out and helping the gardener tend to them when she entered the huge garden, she didn’t see her sister, the garden was huge with different sections for different flowers, she walked the rolls down but Natalie wasn’t in there.
“Maybe she left already,”
She said out loud, turning around to leave but then she saw her sister, she must have gone out of the garden before, she was wearing a pair of baggy Jean over a crop top, her hair head up in a high punny tail, she removed the highlights that were there the last time she came and unlike the Natalie, before she left Florida, she wasn’t wearing any make-up, her skin still glows though and she was just as pretty, she looked more like her now.
“Hi, Natalie, I was looking for you,”
She greeted, trying to hug her sister who shifted away, avoiding her hug.
“What do you want?”
Her sister asked frowning at her, for some reason Nicole found her demo towards her upsetting, if anyone should be angry at anyone it should be the other way round, Nicole is the one who was wronged, not Natalie and she was tired of her sister giving her the cold shoulder.
“What do you mean what do I want? I came to see you,”
“Really? I don’t think we have anything to talk about so why will you come to see me? I don’t have anything to say to you,”
“Natalie, are you never going to talk to me? You keep ignoring me, should I just stop trying, first you go away and ignore me now you return and you are doing exactly the same, do you think it is fair? We have issues to resolve, how do you want us to do this if you keep this up?”
Nicole asked frustrated at her sister, why can’t she just be reasonable for once and think of other people too, not just herself.
