Chapter 46

Book:The Billionaire's Bartered Bride Published:2024-6-2

Nicole sat down staring at the particular place open-mouthed, this has to be a joke, there was no way Rafael would have made Natalie sign such a thing, and Natalie couldn’t have signed knowing right? Why will she sign right to what they both own to Rafael? She can’t do that unless she didn’t bother to read and Rafael had had her sign knowing she would not read it.
“There has to be some kind of mix up somewhere, this can’t be true,”
She tried to convince herself but the papers staring at her were saying otherwise.
Nicole sat down and read through everything on the prenup every word and every page, by the time she was done, she was beyond angry, There was no excusing this, there wasn’t a way to excuse Rafael, he had approached Natalie because of this, to get their property, something they got from their grandma which can’t be bought but gotten to marriage, grandma made it that when they get married, they can collectively agree to either sale to their spouse, or sale to anyone but they have to be married for them to assess it, Rafael must have known this, Nicole didn’t know what the land worth but from how much her parents tried to get it from her grandma when she was still alive and how much they tried to get it from them after grandma’s passing, it was enough to know the property had a lot of worth, she hasn’t even seen the said property in person, but her parents talked about it enough, so that being the reason why Rafael approached Natalie and made her sign it away just proved she didn’t know Rafael.
“Natalie! Such a fool,”
She let out, how could she not at least read the prenup? How could she not at least tell Nicole about it and get her to read it, she would have read every details and they might not have had to get married or deceive Rafael, with that, their deceit felt like a small sin compare to this, Rafael was the greater evil here, and both her and Natalie were fools.
“God! I just can’t believe this,”
She picked up her phone and tried Natalie’s number but her sister didn’t take her calls as usual, she angrily threw the phone away, she couldn’t blame Rafael one hundred percent when Natalie had been the stupid one to sign without reading or maybe she read and still signed, this was absorbed, she couldn’t even think properly, Rafael just ended things with them because he found out she lied, they lied to him now she finds out the reason he even wanted to marry his sister, he didn’t care about Natalie not to talk if her, it was the property, that’s the reason he didn’t act suspicious before, the reason he didn’t mind her behavior, here she had been thinking he was considerate, when in fact he had been working towards his goals, she went over to his luggage and found even more paperwork, checked it and was lost for words, the man was a bastard and it hurt, she knew she shouldn’t be hurt finding out this shits, this should be a way for her to get off without having to be the only one shamed but no this was worst, if they go ahead with the divorce, she might lose.
“I don’t even know what I am thinking anymore, what go I lose or gain?”
She cried out, frustrated by the many thoughts that formed in her head, though that didn’t bring any answers, everything fell out in seconds, she couldn’t even process it all, this was one trip she never thought would end like this, this wasn’t how she wanted to end their almost perfect trip.
“I was going to tell him I love him, I was going to do that and tell him the truth but now he hates me for lying to him and I find out the reason I am even here, this is too much for me to handle, I don’t even know what to do,”
She cried out, she loved him, which is why it hurt, finding out about this doesn’t change that, she wished it does, that way she wouldn’t have to choose between hating him and wanting him to forgive her, she should never have fallen in love with him, God! He wasn’t even hers to begin with.
If only Natalie would take her calls or at least get back to Florida then maybe they could do this together, she already lost Rafael, she couldn’t lose what her grandma left for her too, no, she will fight Rafael for it, there has to be a way, she tried Natalie’s line a couple of times more but still not reachable, she gave up and just sat there staring at nothing in particular, she couldn’t even pinpoint her emotions in the moment, it went between anger and sadness, anger at herself and her twin, for being so stupid, anger at Rafael for being such an evil man and sadness because at the end of the day, she lost more, and she would still lose more if she is not able to get the land back.
She needed answers and she had to ask him, she decided to return the next day and confront him, she couldn’t even sleep on the bed they had shared for the whole week, she couldn’t, she sat up all night staring but not seeing a thing, the tears just kept coming without drying, she lost, either way she lost, prenup or no prenup she fucking lost, it wasn’t even truly hers to begin with but it still hurt, this wasn’t how she wanted it to end, it wasn’t supposed to be like this and definitely not supposed to happen in Hawaii where she made so much happy memories that she had wanted to keep forever now all she could remember was the look on his eyes when he had confronted her and those damn papers…
