He hated her, she just knew it.
“Really? Wow, I don’t even know what to say to you, who did I propose to?”
He asked.
“It was Natalie,”
“How long has this been going on, I know it can’t just be from the wedding day, you guys have been doing this while we were still dating because I noticed but I didn’t think much of it since I didn’t know there were two of you, just how long have you and your twin been playing me for a fool?”
She just had to tell him all, there was no point hiding anyway, he already knew and would connect the dots as to their different behavior and know when it was her or Natalie.
“Not all the time, the dinner date, the meet up at Vhrisma and the Margaret house meet up,”
She revealed.
“What? So you are the one I fell for?”
He asked shocking her, she didn’t think she heard him right, she must have heard him wrong there was no way he just said he fell for her.
“What?”
“So? We have been married for months now and we slept together, what were you guys planning to do when she returns?”
She had heard him wrong, her heart sunk and contracted in pain.
“I don’t know yet, I don’t know, that’s the truth, it wasn’t supposed to get this far, I wasn’t supposed to end up in bed with you, it was supposed to be for a week until Natalie clears her head but she didn’t come back and, I couldn’t keep turning you away,”
“So you decided to have a taste of me? Really? Did you give your virginity up for your sister? What kind of a fool are you? Are you really going to tell me that your twin talked you into doing something in her place, something as huge as marriage and you agreed? How gullible are you?”
He yelled, he wasn’t even going to listen to her, he was just shouting and shouting, she knew she was gullible and a big fool but he shouldn’t rub it in, it wasn’t Natalie’s fault she slept with him, it was her fault, she should have kept her body and her heart out of this whole thing, but no, she went ahead and slept with him as if that wasn’t enough she fell in love with him.
“Are you going to just stand there and stare at the ground? Look at me when I am talking to you, stop acting innocent, you are not, you are a liar and a deceiver, you and your sister, you both don’t deserve to be among humans, how could you do this?”
“I am sorry Rafael,”
“Were planning on ever telling me? We got close, I opened up to you, I gave myself to you, and you were lying to my face? The you I know isn’t even you?”
“I was going to tell you,”
“Liar,”
He yelled.
“I am not lying Rafael, I was going to tell you when we get back to Florida, I just, I am sorry, Rafael, please forgive me, please don’t leave me,”
She pleaded shamelessly.
“What? Leave you? You are not even my real wife, excuse me? I married Natalie and you are not Natalie, I don’t even know you,”
He said walking past her, went into the closest in the room and got his passport out, that was the only thing he took, he didn’t talk to her again and just left, just like that, they were done, she sat on the floor, crying her eyes out, it was painful, she was in pain, she knew this would happen but no, knowing didn’t prepare her enough for the actual pain, maybe if she hadn’t been in love with him, just maybe she wouldn’t have been in so much pain, he left her here, she made so many beautiful and happy memories here and had wanted to leave it like that but now it’s all ruin, how did he find out? Who did he meet out there, she knew it couldn’t be Natalie, Natalie won’t put herself, Grace wouldn’t have told on him and she didn’t even know they were in Hawaii, she left for Harvard two days ago, it couldn’t be her, so who could it be?
She sat down on the floor there hours later, her tears drying up after crying for so long, she accepted her loss, now she would go back to her life but it wasn’t what she wanted anymore, she wanted to be with Rafael, this time, not as Natalie but as Nicole, she wanted to be with him so bad but she knew it was impossible, Rafael hated her and he didn’t want anything to do with her anymore, those thoughts brought fresh tears to her eyes, life without the man she had come to know and love won’t be rosy, she just knew it.
She got off the floor and went into the closet to get her luggage, there was no reason for her to stay here anymore, she couldn’t go back to Florida today but she will by morning, he hated her sight so much that he hadn’t even stated enough to park up, she decided to park up for him and get the luggage to his house before leaving, she brought out his luggage first and opened it, the pile of papers at the side caught her attention, she picked them up.
Nicole looked at the papers she held in her hands, it was clearly written prenups, she didn’t even know Rafael and Natalie had signed such a thing, Rafael has never talked about it neither did Natalie tell her anything about the existence of a prenup, why did they need to sign a prenup? Was that the norm these days? She didn’t know much, but she decided to go through it anyway. She took the papers and went to sit on the bed and opened it, flipping through the pages, barely seeing anything until something caught her attention…
