The voice in his head said mocking him, he shut it off and got in his car, he told his driver to go home earlier, the only people that were coming with him are his bodyguards, he already told them to drive at a distance, he knew Natalie don’t like having them around, she has said it numerous times even when they were dating, she didn’t like having them around but that didn’t mean he would jeopardize their safety, it was going to be a long drive to Blue run so they needed them. His phone rang and he frowned at the caller, Caleb, the moron finally remembered he existed.
“Yes, Caleb?”
“Wow, man, now that you are a married man, you forget I exist?”
“Really? Caleb?”
His supposed friend was another person he wished he could beat up but he wasn’t a violent person, since the issue with Leonard started, Caleb has been avoiding him, he was sure because he didn’t want his name to be dragged too, such a friend.
“Okay, I know, you are angry with me for not showing my support but you can’t blame me, man, this is Leonard you are talking about, he has people everywhere, I don’t think you can win this and that’s my honest opinion,”
“Really? Then watch me win, and watch me bring that moron down that not a penny will be left in his pocket, he doesn’t even have any money, just assets which will be sold off, don’t worry about me, I am doing just fine,”
“Rafael, I am warning as a friend, Leonard is way more dangerous than you think, and he has got a lot of top tier people of the country on his side, they do deeds together, he already knows they won’t let him take a fall because that will be exposing them too, I wish you can listen to me for once and just overlook this,”
Caleb said which got Rafael annoyed, what was he even saying?
“Caleb, just continue pretending like you have been doing since my fight with Leonard started, this is the safety of thousands of people we are talking about here, if he has got strings, he should keep pulling, I am not backing down on this, if they have his back then I am going to make them all fall,”
“Since when did you become so patriotic? Are you sure you are the Rafael I know or did someone else possess you too?”
“I need to go now Caleb, I have a wife waiting for me, take care,”
He said and ended the call even though Caleb was still talking, he dropped his phone as they arrived to pick up his woman.
“Where are we going to Rafael?”
She asked, as the car zoomed off, driving towards blue run, she had asked him the same question over six times already, he looked at her and smiled, she looked good in glasses, he haven’t seen her with it since the day he met her accidentally at the art shop, he liked her wearing those nerdy glasses.
“Don’t worry, I am not going to get you killed or kidnapped, we will soon be there,”
He said and concentrated on driving, she would love it there, he hasn’t been there in a long long time because he was busy, he figured he needed to get her to blue run, she might love the scenery, he was betting on her love for art, art lovers are also mostly nature lovers too, he had a cabin he hasn’t been to in a while and wanted to spend the weekend there with her, he already called ahead for the play to be put in good shape, one thing is it had just one room, so this time, she either choose to stay with him or she might have to sleep on the sofa in the living room, he hoped not.
It took them over two hours to get to Blue run, she wasn’t smiling when they arrived but when she saw the place, her mouth opened in awe, he smiled, her reaction was exactly how he imagined it to be, wait till she saw the place better in broad daylight.
“Wow, I never knew a place like this was in Florida and I have been here all my life,”
“Now you do, let’s go inside Natalie, it’s late by tomorrow morning, you see it better, you will love it,”
He said pulling her along with him into the cabin house, she continued looking around in awe.
“Think you love it, mission accomplished,”
He said with a fist pump.
“Yes, I do, it’s small but beautiful and very cozy, you own it?”
“Yes, and I want us to spend the weekend here away from the noise that comes with the city,”
“That’s nice, I would love to explore,”
“Me too, but I want a different kind of exploration,”
He said dropping the stuff he held and collecting hers and dropping them too, he pulled her close to him, she didn’t tense up so he took that as a good sign and lowers his head to claim her lips, she sighed into his kiss, accepting him, he pulled her up and carried her into the bedroom of the cabin kissing her, he backed her against the door, deepening the kiss, she was welcoming but he knew she would pull off soon, and it happened when his hand grazed her breast she back off him in shock, not again, he thought disappointed even though he saw it coming.
“Natalie,”
“I am sorry Rafael,”
She let out the words that were familiar to his ears but he knew he wasn’t going to let her hide from him anymore…
