Book:THE CEO'S PET Published:2024-6-2

After Amber broke up Eddy and took up Tom’s offer, she was really invested in arts that she went to public libraries, art exhibitions, museums and other arts related events in order to fit into the art world by gaining knowledge and experiences but little did she know Eddy was stalking her. He wondered why she suddenly became invested in things like that but when he couldn’t find any answer to his question after tailing her for a few days, he finally planned to give up.
He had ignited his car’s engine that afternoon when she came out of the house and got into Tom’s car by the other side of the street.
“What is he doing here? Why is she getting into his car?” he murmured and instantly followed them when they took off.
They never took it into account that they might be followed and just went their own way to the hidden house. He followed them down to the house and saw as they giggled lovingly on their way in. He waited there till the time they finally came out at night and tailed them back to the house when he went to drop her.
He noticed that they went there together every weekend but he had no idea what they were doing there or why they visited. That was the only information he got on them but he was not sure if it would help Tom.
He thought about it first and the word “Break” he used when asking for the information bothered him. “What do you mean by break her? Why would you want to break her?” he raised his brow, questioning Tom who was not expecting him to pick on that word.
“Ah, I mean something that would break her relationship with Tom. If the relationship is broken then her heart will surely break, isn’t it? That was what I meant” he quickly clarified but Eddy was not too convinced.
He had worked with the likes of them to understand that they don’t have any boundaries, they can take things as far as it would benefit them and he doesn’t want a situation that would cause harm to Amber because he still plan to have her back.
“I am sorry I don’t have any information you might be looking for and if that’s the purpose of our meeting then that means we are done here” he remarked and stood up to take his leave.
“I wonder how long you can last under that identity, Chris Logan” Joseph said with a smile as he raised his tea cup with a grin.
Eddy’s legs went weak and got stuck in the ground at the mention of that name. It was a name no one knew him as, he had left that identity behind for the past fifteen years and it was surprising how Joseph found out. The look on his face was already enough to show that he wanted to ask him a question but Joseph only shrugged before standing up.
“You were part of the notorious drug trafficking circle in Cyprus but fled to Chicago under the identity of Eddy Jasper, the name of that belongs to the son of the captain of the ship that smuggled you in. His son died on the ship and he registered you as his son when you to Chicago. Ever since then you have tried to live a normal life and even started a business of exporting and importing, that’s a way to build a clean identity and profile but I am sorry to break it to you, nothing is hidden under the sun, especially when I am the one looking for it” Joseph revealed as he released a chuckle at the end of his statement.
The truth was so obvious on his face, he froze there throughout the time he was talking without being able to deny any of the words that Joseph was saying because it was the truth. He clenched his fist slowly at the revelation of his buried truth but Joseph was only enjoying the torment he was putting him through.
He shook the threat off his shoulders, he didn’t want to get intimidated or pulled down by the incident of the past. “It has been a long time and also no one will be willing to take up the case anymore since all of them from then are now dead” he stated firmly making Joseph laugh so hard he wondered what he said that was funny for him to laugh that way.
“To you, it might be something of the past and no one might never be interested since you said everyone had died but if I decide to make an issue out of then I wonder how far I can go. Everyone in the drug cartel are now dead but you are the only one alive under a fake identity, I wonder what the police will say when they hear something like this. It will be fishy right? You also think so right?” said Joseph with a mocking tone and this time, the words got to Eddy.
He knew what it meant to be arrested on the charge of murder, it will be difficult from him to weasel out of the charge especially now that someone as powerful as Joseph was involved. Cooperating with him was surely the best option for him if he wants to live a free man so he had no choice but to walk back to his seat for the continuation of their talks.
“You should have cooperated without having me threaten you, I only wanted both of us to benefit from the deal but you were making me the bad person” Joseph pouted in victory as he took his seat also.
He removed the cufflinks on his shirt and folded his chest up to his elbow, “Let me hear what you have for me” he said as he placed his bare elbows on the fine wooden table between them.
Eddy hesitated for a bit for seeing his life on the line, he went ahead to spill. “I don’t know if this will be helpful enough for you but there is a particular house both Tom and Amber visits every weekend, which is Saturday and Sunday. I don’t know what exactly is going on in the house but I know they go in the morning and leave at night” he revealed, with a pained expression all over his face.
Joseph frowned at the information because it didn’t seems like it would be helpful to him but he was curious about where the house was and what it stood for. Never has he heard that Tom had another house but hearing this from Eddy he decided to investigate and find out what he might be hiding.
“I will check the quality of your information and get back to you through my secretary but be rest assured that as long as you cooperate with me, you secret is ever safe” Joseph assured Eddy as he signaled for the waitress to bring in more food so they could eat.

Amber resumed work and everyone was dying to come see her on the CEO’s floor but they couldn’t thanks to the strict hierarchy in work. They waited for the break time impatiently and as soon as she came down from her office, the employees swarmed at her to her surprise.
“What is going on? Did I something wrong?” she question as she shrunk at their sudden charging towards her.
“What could be wrong? We are just here to congratulate you for the success of your work. We didn’t even know that you had such an amazing talent. We are so pleased and excited to have a superstar working with us” one of them blabbered and giggled at every words that came out of her mouth.
She was flustered at the sudden attention but soon calmed down to get used to the attention she was getting it would be like that for as long as she plays the mask of Tom Holland, her boss.
Amidst the commotion of being at work, another email arrived for her from Phoebe. She has been selected the buzz worthy artist of the month so she will have to go back to Paris again the next month.
She sighed as she read the message because the thought of things getting out of control than she had ever imagined crossed her mind. She knew if the attention gets bigger, she will have to face the consequence very soon, it wouldn’t be long before her cover gets blown and that will a disaster.
She was still deep in thought when Tom marched into the company, he had gone to check the Holland textile company to make sure everything was going on well. Immediately they saw him, they all scurried to their position but he wasn’t even interested in their attitude. He had walked past her and was about taking the elevator when he turned to face her.
“Miss Amber, please see me in my office. Right now!” he commanded and she rushed over to ride the elevator with him even though she was not sure why he wanted to see her all of a sudden.
