Donald’s face fell. Brucille snorted and continued, “With so many people watching, Mr. Chao, if something should happen, you should bear the consequence yourself. I shouldn’t take the responsibility, nor should Monique.”
Andie, who was standing on one side, was also in a cold sweat. If things really went south, he would be the first to face the consequences.
But he didn’t recognize the man who was speaking. So, he asked, “Who are you? Are you a doctor?”
Donald beat Brucille to reply, “Mr. Wei, don’t listen to his nonsense. He’s Monique’s husband, and not only that he has no medicine practice experience, but he also graduated from a technical college. He’s also a coward who lives off a woman-”
“Please believe me. I can cure him,” Brucille reaffirmed, showing no sign of backing down.
Still stirred by the possibility of facing consequence, Andie said, “Fine. If you fail to do so, your family will be in serious trouble.”
Monique became even more on edge when she heard what Andie had said. She knew too well that she couldn’t put her family’s fate in Brucille’s hand.
“Brucille, stop the nonsense! Do you want to drag my whole family down with you?”
“You’re Mr. Wei, right? That’s unnecessary. If anything should happen, I’ll take the entire responsibility. At worst, you can take my life as a sacrifice for Mr. Pedro.”
Brucille spoke matter-of-factly.
In the end, Andie agreed to let him treat Pedro. Pedro was lying almost lifelessly in the operating room. The elites of the hospital’s surgeons, physicians, and traditional medicine department were all gathered in the room, but none dared to operate on Pedro. None of them knew what was wrong with him too.
Brucille only needed a glimpse at Pedro, and he already knew that Pedro was unconscious because he had been invaded by evil Qi. His state of unconsciousness had nothing to do with painkillers.
He stepped forward and instructed, “Please move aside. You’re too close to the patient, making it difficult for him to breathe. Can’t you hear him?”
The doctors exchanged looks with each other. Although they looked down on Brucille, they needed any help they could get to save Pedro. The Ann Enterprise was one of the top 500 private enterprises. If the founder had died in the hospital, the consequence would be serious.
Besides, someone from the office of the municipal committee had called earlier, and they requested them to do their best to save Pedro.
After checking the condition of Pedro, Brucille lightly said, “Don’t worry, I can cure him. Mr. Pedro will wake up in ten minutes.”
“No, I’m strongly against this. The experts will arrive soon in another half an hour. If you fail to treat Mr. Pedro, the hospital will face serious consequences.”
Donald had his own plan. Of course, he wouldn’t agree for Brucille to treat Pedro in the hospital. If Pedro died during the treatment, it would be absolutely difficult for him, the director of the hospital, to absolve himself of the blame. Furthermore, Brucille was Tyrion’s son-in-law.
Brucille looked straight at Andie and said, “Mr. Pedro will die in twenty minutes if we do nothing. His heart rate is weak, and his Qi and blood flow are blocked. He’ll likely die of organ failure.”
Hodge Ma, the director of the traditional medicine department, walked over and felt Pedro’s pulse. His face turned pale in an instant.
Frightened, he informed Donald, “Mr. Chao, B-Bruce is right. We can’t wait that long.”
Hearing that, Andie said with a dark face, “In that case, I’ll bet it all on you. If you fail, you can dig a hole and bury yourself in it.”
Getting the green light from Andie, Brucille beamed and patted Andie on the shoulder, “There’s no need to be so dramatic. Just treat me to a meal when everything’s over.” Then, he instructed the doctors at the scene, “Please help to unbutton Mr. Pedro’s shirt.”
While they did that, Brucille took out a few silver needles. He inserted dozens of needles into Pedro’s chest, forehead and fingers. Hodge was very shocked when he saw Brucille’s acupuncture technique.
It was the Seven Stars Acupuncture Skill as described by the master of traditional medicine when he was still studying medicine in the university.
Brucille was swift to put the needles, like a dragonfly skimming over a water surface. It wouldn’t pain the person who was pierced by the needles at all. His movement was smooth, and he did it in one go.
Brucille completed his treatment in less than five minutes.
After pulling out the last needle, beads of sweat formed on his forehead. After all, he had just recovered. He was still a little weak.
Brucille wiped the sweat from his forehead and said calmly, “I’m done. Mr. Pedro will wake up very soon.”
On the other hand, Monique was stunned. She didn’t know when Brucille had learned acupuncture. He was so smooth when he was doing it too! She wondered where he learned it from.
Just as Donald had said, Brucille graduated from a technical college, and his college major had nothing to do with medical skills. What he studied was information technology, not medical technology.
Most people held their breath, especially the directors of respective departments. Their faces were dark.
If Pedro woke up after just a few needles inserted by Brucille, it would greatly impact their reputation. It was no different than slapping them on their face in public.
Time passed, but Pedro was still the same.
Donald sneered, “Do you see what I meant just now? Brucille is just a liar. Who do you think Mr. Pedro is? He isn’t your lab mouse. Mr. Wei, I think we should call the police to arrest them now.”
The director of the internal medicine department also added to the fire, “That’s right. Do you think you can cure him with just a few needles? That’s funny. Young people certainly are bold to say anything.”
“You’re right. Young people nowadays don’t have real talent and experience. But their skill in bragging is really the best in the world.”
While everyone was talking, Pedro, who was lying on the operating table, coughed a few times. And then, he slowly opened his eyes. Andie rushed forward and helped him up.
“Mr. Pedro, how do you feel?”
“Oh, I feel much better now. I’ve been in a daze for a few months. It was as though I’m going to die soon. I don’t know what happened, but I feel much better now.”
Brucille stood in front of Pedro and said, “You were probably invaded by some evil Qi, which made your headache worse. Something must have happened last night to trigger you and caused you to faint so suddenly.”
“I see, doctor… And you are?”
“I’m not a doctor. I only know a little about medical skills. But since you’re awake, it means that this has nothing to do with Monique. I don’t think you should put the blame on her.”
Pedro was going to thank Brucille. But Brucille had turned around to leave with Monique decisively.
His attitude made Donald and the others even more embarrassed.
Meanwhile, Monique was still unhappy with Brucille. When she learned that Tyrion was awake, she hurriedly went to the wardroom. Tyrion still didn’t know about the incident that had happened to her.
He felt much better, and he didn’t want to stay in the hospital anymore. So, he asked Pollard to request the hospital for discharge.
Of course, the Ching family left the sundries for Brucille to pack up on his own. When Tyrion was about to leave the hospital, Henric came to see him off. Then, Brucille saw Tyrion thanked Henric repeatedly while holding onto his hands so tightly.
Brucille didn’t expect Henric to be so thick faced to take all the credits. Henric had really acted as if he had single-handedly pulled Tyrion back from the brink of death.
After Brucille had finished packing up, he brushed past Henric in the hallway of the hospital as he headed out.
Henric didn’t even glance at him, but Brucille said in a very low voice, “Dr. Lee, there are some things you do, and some things you didn’t. Don’t pretend like you know something when you don’t. It’ll end up bringing harm to everyone, including yourself.”
