Gallagher and his men had rode in a fleet of their motorbikes and headed straight to the local town of Bear Creek where majority of the occupants were farmers and ranchers. In the past, it had blossomed with lots of ranches making it a one stop shop for most varieties of cattle across the world. It had attracted tourist from far and near who came to witness the beautiful works of nature in the town.
However the inflow of visitors had also gave room for unsolicited beings to dwell near the town and soon, the mysterious death of cattle in their large number began to draw attention to the strange phenomenon of the area. At first villagers thought it was the actions of hungry wolves, bears or the mountain puma but after putting traps in place without catching a single breed of the aforementioned animals. The cattle owners decided to form a coalition of vigilantes to safeguard the lives of their cattle. Soon reports of giant wolves walking on two legs were shared and in time it became an established fact that werewolves which were thought to have been extinct were now living amongst the people and had been the ones feeding on the cows and sheep. When the local sheriff had failed to make the disappearance of the cattle to go away. Gallagher and his men signed a deal to secure the Animals and somehow found a way to keep to their promise as long as they were paid a collective amount of money every month which ran in many thousands of Dollars. This heavy taxation had greatly reduced the amount of profit left for reinvestment. The economy of bear Creek remained stagnant as profit was little since they had to squirt a large percentage of it to safeguard their cattle and also save guard themselves. As far as they were concerned, their government had failed them and the only government they knew was that of Gallagher and his men.
” Greetings to you all, my dear people of Bear Creek. As you know the month is ending tomorrow and tax collection would have to begin today. I’m afraid the cattle of defaulters would not be under our watch. Last month, some people paid half of the required sum and promised to pay up before the month runs out. Oh my goodness! These Urchins think we are here to play fun games. The month is done and dusted and not a dime from them has been brought forward to us.” Said Gallagher as he climbed the pavilion of the towns stadium where all inhabitants or their representative was expected to bring his monthly tax. He stood sullen for a while and bent his head towards the floor in an emotional manner while placing his fingers on his lips. He slowly raised his gaze to meet the sad gazes of the people and began to speak again.
” Is this how you people repay my kindness. Me and my men risk our lives, having sleepless nights just so your property is in good shape. But all you people do is swindle us as if we were some panties washers or some damn janitors.” He said and sniffed in vexation. ” It’s now so quick to forget the occurrences of the past when your cows and sheep were taken In dozens. I think me and boys should travel to Hawaii for a vacation. Only then shall you all know the importance of our presence and the dreaded dangers lying in your presence.” Said Gallagher and suited the microphone on his collar. His revelation was met by a series of murmuring from the crowd. Gallagher in his black leather jacket and black leather pants was paused for a while before he began to speak again. He had all the time at his disposal because he was the king of Texas.
” Just know that I’m not going back on my words . Those who refused to pay last month, would pay us this months and try to add up the interest cause that’s how it’s done around the world. Failure to do so would see us auctioning there sheep’s and cattle to my men, till my money is raised back with full interest.” Said Gallagher and snapped his fingers to signal his boys to start collecting payment. Which they did in cash.
Just then a young man who was probably fed up with the menace of Gallagher shouted at top of his voice. ” Solidarity forever! We are tired of getting milked by you and your men. Go to Hawaii and leave us alone. The God in heaven shall protect us.” Said the young youth wearing tattered clothing.
” Oh my Goodness! See what we have here, a freedom fighter huh?” said Gallagher as he paid keen attention to the murmuring of the crowd. The last thing he needed was a revolution from the people and the only way he could shut them down was to make scapegoat out of the young peasant.
” Durban!” he shouted and the trigger-happy fellow pounced forward.
