Not A Morning Person

It was hard to open his eyelids with the sun shining right to his face. It took him a few seconds to remember where he was. Then it came back to him. He turned to look at Mandy still fast asleep by his side. They were tangled in sheets and blankets.
He pulled up the duvet and saw he wasn’t wearing anything underneath. “Shit,” he thought to himself. He sat up and found another naked girl laying on the bed with them. “Fuck,” he muttered in a whisper.
They were drinking heavily last night and they were using all other stuff too. He was shitfaced, the girls were too, he now vaguely remembered how Mandy persuaded them into a threesome and it felt like a really good idea at the time. He brushed his face with both hands. He’d promised himself not to do this again, well, he failed.
He got up slowly trying not to disturbed the girls. He picked up his clothes from the floor and put them on. His phone was still in the pocket of his jeans, it was still turned off. He found his car keys on the coffee table in front of the TV along with his leather pouch that was now empty.
He put all his stuff in his pocket and lit up a cigarette, then he showed himself out. Got into his car and headed back to Chestnut. His head was still buzzing from whatever he stuffed himself with last night. He remembered the porn movie they put on TV right before they tried the act themselves.
“Fuck … fuck … fuck …” he mumbled. The only thing he can think about then was how Hazel would react to him being AWOL. He promised to tell her when he gets back home, but he’s not home yet. “Shit,” he hated doing that to Hazel. He stepped on the gas, he had to go back to her as soon as possible.
It was close to 24 hours since he dropped her off to her house. He found himself standing on her porch and rang her door bell. He tucked his hands in his pocket fidgeting his feet as he waited for someone to open the door.
He heard her mom calling Hazel to open the door. His heart was beating faster. Then the door slowly opened in front of him. Hazel at the other side, her hair tied up in a pony tail, she was wearing shorts and a tiny shirt and her mouth agape when she saw him.
She stepped outside and closed the door behind her. “Oh my God! Where were you? I’ve been trying to call you all night?” she scolded him in a whisper.
“I’m sorry … my phone died,” he lied.
“Do you know how worried you made everyone? Your dad called me 3 times already … I had to tell my mom you had a fight with your dad … God … Marlon! Where did you go?” her expression was genuinely worried.
He was stunned looking at her so upset because she was worried about him, he lost for words, “I was … in Goldstone.”
She furrowed her brows and staring at his face intently, “Is that?” she walked closer to him and reached his lips with her thumb, “Is that lipstick??”
She wiped the smudge around Marlon’s lips and was convinced it was in fact lipstick smudges, “Oh my God!! You got laid last night? And you had everyone worried sick while you were having sex??” her eyes widened demanding an explanation.
‘Shit’ he had not look in a mirror since last night, and he had no idea there was still traces of lipstick on his face. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. “I was … not …” he tried to lie but he knew he was caught red handed. “Okay … I was with Mandy … it was too late to come home so I stayed at her place,” it wasn’t exactly true.
Hazel’s mouth was still ajar, she couldn’t believe she was worried for absolutely nothing. “Why didn’t you text your dad, or tell anyone you went to Goldstone? What were you doing there?”
“I went to my brother’s grave,” he said.
Hazel’s face relaxed, it sounded like the most honest thing he’d said since he arrived. “I can’t believe you … I had to cancel with Lee and it turned out you were getting laid? Jeez … I was suppose to have sex last night!” she slapped the side of his arm.
“You cancelled on Lee because of me?” he smiled amused.
“That’s not funny, okay? Your dad called me, the next thing I know Lee dropped me back here because we were all worried about you … you know last night was suppose to be out first time and … urgh!” she grunted.
Marlon laughed lightly. “Well you can do it today?” he teased her.
“We can’t! He has practice today!”
He couldn’t stop smiling because he thought she was adorable when she was like that. “I’m sorry … I didn’t know … if you told me you were going to have sex last night … I might … call you and ask you how you were going to do it.”
She pressed her lips together and stared at him for a moment. She realized how stupid it was and burst out in a laughter.
He laughed with her, he couldn’t take his eyes off her though. He needed to know she was fine, she wasn’t angry with him, she wasn’t annoyed. And then her eyes looked straight into his with a sweet smile, it warmed his heart.
“I’m glad you’re okay though … ” she said.
He tucked his hands back in his pocket and shrugged, “Do you want to get something to eat? I’m so hungry … I haven’t eaten anything since yesterday.”
“Yes I do … with one condition … you need to go home, take a shower and then come back to pick me up … you reek of sex and I’m not going out with anyone who hadn’t shower after sex …” she pinched her nose and shooed him away.
“Can’t I just shower here?”
“No … my parents are here … anyway you need to see your mom and dad let them know you’re okay, and change your clothes … go on … and charge your phone while you’re at it.”
He let out a long sigh, “Fine … okay … I’ll pick you up in an hour?”
“Sure … I need a shower myself,” she said already turning to go back in the house.
“See … it would be quicker if we just shower together … it would save us a lot of time.”
She rolled her eyes on him.
“Just saying,” he pouted his lips. “Be back soon baby,” he said.
