He’s been knocking on her door for ten minutes, she finally opened it, looking like she’s been crying all day. He was taken aback when he entered and Esmee just lingered in her tight embrace. He stroked her hair and let her rest her head on his chest. She felt his warm body, she misses that pounding that she hears through her ear and his breath on her hair.
“Are you alright?” he asked gently. She nodded and let him go.
“I’m just sad about Dorian, and scared … of what’s gonna happen.”
Jordan touched her cheeks and pulled her close to him, “Hey, don’t worry about it, I’ll take care of you,” he kissed her lips but she pulled away sooner than he wanted her to.
“Jacob’s birthday is coming up,” he started a conversation. Esmee looked dazed like she had other things on her mind.
“My dad asked me to take you, he wants to meet you,” this would’ve been a good thing because Esmee had never met Jordan’s dad and she wondered when Jordan would take the relationship to the next level, but she was quiet.
Esmee heated up some food in the microwave and gave it to Jordan. They had a really quiet dinner and Jordan was just telling her about his day and the coming event, just like they always do together. Esmee stared at the dining table and played with her food. His heartbeat started to increase, suddenly there’s a heavy pressure in his gut and made his blood run cold.
Jordan stopped eating, he couldn’t swallow anything after that. He put his can down on the dining table, he was breathing heavily. He looked at Esmee with a thousand scenarios running in his head, she felt it, the tension in the room, she caused it.
“What did you do?” his voice trembled. She looked down, pursing her lips almost biting them. “What did you do, Esmee?” She shook her head and burst into tears, she covered her head with her hands and curled up on the chair.
“I saw him when he came back to The Dungeon, he was a mess!” Jordan tried to keep his tone as calm as he could. Esmee wouldn’t answer, she hid behind her knees. He threw the can to the wall and kicked the chair in front of him. He stood up and came over Esmee, he shook her body, “Tell me what the fuck you did, Esmee??”
Esmee screamed and cried, “I fucked him Jordan!! Alright? I fucked him!!”
“No!!” Jordan took a chair and threw it across the room. “No! I don’t believe you!!”
“Yes, I did! Because he was there for me, he was always there and you’re not!” she stood and confronted him.
“Fuck you!! He’s my best friend, Esmee!! Fuck you!!” Jordan held his fist and punched the table.
“He’s my best friend too! And he listens to me … I tried to wait for you, Jordan, always on the sidelines, you never make time for me, you never …”
“Don’t give me that bullshit! I know that’s not it, Esmee! I saw the way you looked at him!! I never make time for you so you go and fuck my best friend??”
“I wasn’t thinking straight, okay? I was so upset with how you treated me, and … and he was there … he was so sweet and kind to me.”
Reality had started to sink in with Esmee, she realized the repercussion of what she had done to Jordan’s friendship and her friendship with Adrian. She didn’t realize that what she was saying was just pouring more fuel into Jordan’s jealous rage.
“Stop it! Stop it!” his breath was heavy, he cupped Esmee’s face and tears were starting to form in his eyes. “Do you know what you’ve done to us? Do you realize what you’ve done??”
Esmee burst into tears, “I’m sorry … I’m sorry … baby, I love you, Jordan …”
“No, you don’t … you wouldn’t have done this if you do,” he said that to himself and calmed himself down.
It made Esmee cry the ugly cry and held him, “Please don’t leave me, Jordan … I love you,” she pleaded.
Jordan took her hands and forced her to let him go, “I can’t even look at you right now … please, just … I can’t,” he said and went out the door.
Of all the years he’d been loving Esmee and caressing her naked body, he just couldn’t see how he’s going to be able to erase the image of her bare skin rubbing against his best friend. His blood was boiling with every minute passing as images played out in his head. He headed to The Dungeon and he didn’t trust himself with what was raging inside him.
