Amelia’s POV
I walked briskly along the dimly lit hallway, my mind preoccupied with the tasks ahead. Suddenly, a strong hand grabbed my arm and pulled me forcefully into a nearby room. Before I could let out a scream, a firm hand covered my mouth, stifling any sound that might escape.
Instinctively, I fought back, sinking my teeth into the person’s palm, eliciting a painful groan from a deep, masculine voice. As I turned around to confront my attacker, my words caught in my throat when I realized it was Liam standing before me, a mischievous grin adorning his face.
“Liam… what are you doing?” I managed to speak, attempting to maintain a composed and polite demeanor despite my surprise.
“I wanted to see you,” he confessed, pulling me into a tight embrace.
I shuddered slightly, trying to extract myself from his warm hold. Conflicting emotions surged through me. Did he truly miss me? But how could that be? I barely knew him!
Suppressing the urge to unleash my frustration on him, I reminded myself that this was not what I needed at the moment. Fresh from a recent breakup, I hadn’t fully healed from the wounds it had left behind. And now, here I was, being embraced by another man who considered me his girlfriend. It was all a confusing mess.
“Um… I actually have work to do,” I finally managed to assert, coaxing Liam to release his grip on me.
“Oh, right. You need to go back to work,” he responded, scratching the back of his head with a hint of disappointment in his voice.
Feeling a pang of guilt for dashing his hopes, I mustered a smile and took a deep breath before making my way toward the exit. As I walked away, conflicting thoughts flooded my mind. It wasn’t that I disliked Liam; in fact, he had been incredibly kind and welcoming. It was just that I couldn’t force myself to feel the same way he did, especially when I still harbored feelings for my ex, Andrew.
“Why are you lying to yourself, Amelia? You know how your heart skips a beat whenever he touches you,” a voice inside me whispered, adding to my inner turmoil.
Shaking my head, I scolded myself for entertaining such thoughts. I had to focus on moving forward, putting the past behind me. I resorted to lightly slapping my own face, hoping to snap out of the distracting reverie that Liam’s presence had triggered.
But, damn it, he was undeniably attractive!
“Enough!” I exclaimed inadvertently, drawing the attention of those around me. Feeling self-conscious, I nervously chuckled before swiftly retreating from their curious gazes.
Liam’s POV
In my office, I sat deep in thought, replaying the encounter with Amelia over and over again in my mind. I couldn’t shake the feeling of her discomfort, her flinching at my touch. It frustrated me to no end. I yearned for her to regain her memories, to remember the love we once shared and find solace in my arms.
“Gosh, this is so frustrating!” I exclaimed, unable to contain my agitation any longer. I slammed my hand down on the table, causing a loud bang to reverberate through the room. As I pondered our complicated situation, the door suddenly swung open, revealing Amelia standing there with concern etched on her face.
“Oh my goodness, Liam! I heard a noise. Are you okay?” she asked, rushing towards me, genuine care evident in her voice.
“I’m… fine. I just… hit the table,” I stammered, taken aback by her unexpected presence and the genuine worry in her eyes.
“I’m glad you’re okay. Why did you hit the table, you dumb head?” she scolded lightly, flicking my forehead. But in that moment, I couldn’t focus on her playful gesture. Instead, I was captivated by her beauty, by the way she looked at me.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” she questioned, her voice filled with curiosity, pulling me out of my dazed state. I blinked twice, trying to regain my composure.
“I’m not,” I lied, attempting to conceal my intense emotions. I was about to stand up when her next action left me speechless.
With a determined expression, Amelia pushed me back onto my chair, straddling me with her legs spread across my lap.
“What… are… you… doing?” I stammered, feeling a sudden rush of heat course through me, my forehead growing damp with sweat.
“I just miss my baby so much,” she whispered seductively into my ear, causing my breath to hitch. Her fingers trailed lightly on my chest, deftly working to unbutton my shirt.
Confusion swept over me. How could this be happening? Amelia was not supposed to remember anything. So why was she saying she missed me?
“I want you so bad,” Amelia confessed, her voice filled with longing as she suckled on my neck, her hand tugging at my hair.
“Amelia… what are you doing?” I tried my best not to moan too loudly, feeling her hips rocking against my now prominent bulge.
“Don’t you miss me?” she pouted, her luscious pink lips tempting me beyond measure. I couldn’t resist reaching up to tuck a stray strand of her hair behind her ear.
“I miss you so much, Amelia,” I admitted, holding her cheeks gently, staring into her bright eyes.
“I love you so much,” I confessed, unable to contain my feelings any longer.
Her words were like music to my ears, validating the love I felt for her. I wanted nothing more than to have her by my side forever, never to let her go.
“I love you too, Liam,” she said softly before leaning in closer, her lips tantalizingly close to mine. I closed my eyes, anticipating the sweet connection.
But just as our lips were about to meet, the door swung open wide, snapping me back to reality. I looked up to see Elliot, my friend and coworker, standing there, his gaze fixed on me and my puckered lips.
I glanced around the room, only to find Amelia nowhere in sight.
“Gosh, so it wasn’t real,” I groaned in frustration, ruffling my hair with a mix of disappointment and disbelief.
“Were you daydreaming about Amelia?” Elliot asked, his tone laced with amusement and a hint of mockery.
“None of your business,” I replied tersely, still reeling from the remnants of the vivid illusion I had just experienced.
“So, you were dreaming of her,” he chuckled, casually dropping some files on my desk.
I frowned, turning my attention to the pile of work that now demanded my focus. “What’s all this?” I asked, perplexed by the sudden influx of paperwork.
“Work. Now go through it and sign them,” Elliot sneered, his tone implying that I had neglected my responsibilities for far too long.
“Since when did you start working?” I teased, well aware of Elliot’s tendency to avoid tasks whenever possible.
“We’ve been in this company for months now. I figured it’s time for me to pull my weight too,” he grinned, though I detected a mischievous undertone in his words. It was clear that he had some ulterior motive behind his newfound dedication.
“The truth, Elliot,” I sighed, giving him a knowing look.
“Fine. Next week is payday, and I don’t want you to say I didn’t work and therefore shouldn’t be paid,” he confessed, a hint of embarrassment coloring his cheeks. His admission elicited a genuine laugh from me.
“Fool, I was going to pay you regardless,” I chuckled, grateful for Elliot’s friendship and the lighthearted banter that often filled our interactions.
“Whatever. I can’t take any chances,” Elliot replied before turning to leave. But before he exited the room, he paused and offered a piece of advice that struck a chord within me.
“Oh, and if you want Amelia to fall for you again, try taking her on a date. Spend some time together instead of daydreaming about her,” Elliot suggested with a knowing smile.
His words resonated deeply within me. How had I not considered this before? Taking Amelia on a date seemed like the perfect opportunity to rekindle the connection we once shared.
“You’re right, Elliot. I should take her on a date,” I mused aloud, my determination reigniting.
“About time you figured that out. Good luck, my friend,” he said, giving me a playful wink before finally leaving the office.
As I sifted through the stack of papers, my mind raced with ideas for the perfect date. I wanted to create an experience that would make Amelia’s heart flutter and remind her of the love we had shared. This time, I wouldn’t let her slip away.
“Get ready, Amelia. I’m going to make you fall in love with me all over again,” I vowed, a surge of excitement coursing through me as I began planning the most unforgettable date imaginable.
