Chapter Ninety-Eight – Interest.
It was the second wedding Arya was attending but the first she see feeling really excited about. It was Anna’s wedding.
The reception had taken place immediately and ran out to look for Connor. He was with her phone and she needed to take lot’s of pictures of Anna.
She has to show them to Winx who couldn’t attend the wedding due to her injury.
Arya wished Jim could have taken it back so Winx would attend as a bridesmaid but the groom was in so much haste to marry his bride.
One of the reasons being that he had to return to his base as soon as possible.
Arya finally caught sight of Connor with some girls. Should she walk over to him or just let him be? She wasn’t sure.
He once told her how he grew more popular at school after his issue with the reporters went viral. All she hoped was he didn’t repeat it again, it might take a different turn.
Thankfully, Connor turned around to look at something and noticed her watching him.
“My phone?” she gestured her hand to her ears.
He pointed at someone then turned away. She followed his direction and her heart skipped a beat when she sighted Seth.
The reaction was due to shock more than residue feelings. Or perhaps, it was due to the fact he was standing and talking with Damien so she couldn’t just walk over to take her phone.
“The pictures will have to wait. Hehe!” she chuckled nervously, moving backwards.
Someone nudged her from behind and she turned.
“Introduce me to your hot friend. Anna said he was your classmate, or was it colleague?” Selena adjusted her dress.
Her hot friend? Arya looked around. Did Selena mean Seth? Well, he was definitely hot but was she interested in him? Did she want to go talk to him?
Arya didn’t think Selena could be that bold. She didn’t see a problem with it anymore. She couldn’t have him as she was already someone else’s. But she couldn’t introduce either.
“Eh.. why not… why not meet them th- there? Damien is with him, he’d surely introduce you.” She stuttered.
Selena stared at her with a tired expression. “You will be the one taking me. If I go alone, it’d look weird. If you go to see your friend and I tag along, that’d be better.”
As she spoke, she pushed Arya along towards Damien and Seth. Damien noticed Arya coming towards him with his sister. “Let’s go and see the bride.” He suggested.
Seth smiled. “I have seen her. She looks really beautiful in her wedding gown.” But he was pulled along with Damien.
“Let’s see her again.” Damien insisted, taking Seth far away from the reach of Arya. He understood Arya was going to stay with him but not long ago, she had feelings for Seth.
He didn’t want it blooming again.
Arya noticed Damien and Seth walking away so decided to go elsewhere but she was being propelled forward by Selena.
“I could go myself but a top model like me would look awkward if I introduce myself. Damien wouldn’t support me either. He’s very dense in these matters.” Selena sighed.
Arya smiled at her tease. Damien was indeed dense in romantic stuff but she wasn’t good at being a wingman either.
“See, Selena, I had a crush on this guy once. I can’t just walk up to him.” She confessed, hoping it’d make Selena spare her.
“Well, you don’t have that crush anymore, right? So help a sister out.” She pinched Arya’s cheeks.
When they reached the back seats, they found that Damien and Seth had disappeared into oblivion. Selena shrugged then walked back to her seat in the front.
Arya’s jaw dropped. Was that how fast she lost interest? She wasn’t going to try harder? What if he was still close?
“Well, she’s Goddess Selena.” Rich men sought out for her.
A staff at the wedding venue came to Arya and handed her phone to her. “Sir Damien wanted me to give this to you.”
Arya made a small bow to the lady. Damien must have noticed her following him so realized she wanted her phone. She was glad she didn’t have to meet up with Seth to take it.
She swerved back and headed to the front to take pictures of the wedding reception. She met Kane there, making a video.
“I’d take yours later. I couldn’t make one for myself.” She whispered when she got close to him.
He smiled. “Sure. I was making it for your friend also. She’s still at the hospital, right?”
Arya gasped. He was making it for Winx? He wondered why he didn’t use her name instead of calling her ‘your friend’.
“That’s very nice of you, I’m sure Winx would appreciate it.” She emphasized on her name.
Kane smirked. “That name sounds like ‘witch’. No offense. Is that really her first name?”
Arya burst out, laughing. Was that why he didn’t use it? She didn’t blame him. Damien once called it ‘Wing’. “It is her first name, really. And she has no other.”
Kane smirked. “That must be hard on her.”
Arya laughed loudly. She had seen similar comments on a site when Debby stabbing Winx had been popular. People asked what kind of name Winx was and if she was a real person.
Meanwhile, Damien finally broke off with Seth and searched around for Arya. His shoulders slumped seeing her laughing heartily with Kane.
He was still relieved that she could laugh heartily even if she was currently an orphan. She had forgotten all about it.
“You are really whipped for this walking chaos.” Ken said, resting his arm on his shoulders. “Infact, you’re done for.”
He noticed his best friend stared at her like she was his world.
Damien smiled. “You make it sound like a crime.”
“It’s a crime for a handsome man like you to have remained faithful to a first love for ten years. It was even a puppy love.” Ken mourned. “You were single for five legal years.”
“And I was happy during those years. You dated for five legal years, yet here you are.” Damien clapped back.
Ken stayed quiet, and placed his hands on his waist. “Sir Damien? You wanna go?” he asked politely.
Damien chuckled, shaking his head and moving away. “No, I’m sorry. I don’t have the strength to banter with you.”
Even if his first love started out as a contracted wife, he still ended up making her stay and that was all that mattered.
